Ch. 121The forty-sixth helping of gossip: what juicy gossip, forty-six bites...
After Aunt Ye and Fang Yien left the Ye household, Third Uncle Ye questioned Ye Yongxin about why the boys had thrown rats into Ye Mo’s room. Ye Yongxin said Fang Yien wanted to drive Ye Mo out to defend Ye Baozhu, leaving the family to confront Baozhu about her role.
- Ye Zhipeng defended Ye Mo and told Aunt Ye it was time to return home; when nobody asked her to stay, she left with Fang Yien.
- Third Uncle Ye criticized Aunt Ye for spoiling Fang Yien and warned Ye Yongxin against the boys’ behavior.
- Ye Yongxin said Fang Yien had wanted to drive Ye Mo out because he believed she had taken Ye Baozhu’s place in the family.
- Ye Baozhu denied asking Fang Yien to intervene, while Ye Sen suggested Fang Yien had acted on his own.
- Ye Lin asked how Fang Yien could know Baozhu felt wronged when they were far apart, and Baozhu admitted she had told him over the phone that she feared her family no longer liked her.
