The God of Thunder Descends and Joins the Fight
The reflective film flipped in Ye Mo's palm, its silver edge reflecting the broken light tubes hanging from the workshop ceiling, casting a faint glow. The muscles in his right hand were tense, his knuckles white from the force, and blood dripped from his severed left arm, accumulating into a small dark red patch on the concrete floor. Emma Frost's finger twitched slightly, as if rehearsing before pulling the trigger; her eyes opened a crack, her pupils focusing on the back of Malekith's head.
Ye Mo knew it was now.
He swung his right arm, sending the reflective membrane flying out of his hand in an arc, heading straight for the energy node at the edge of the black mist vortex—the weak point in the fluctuations he had previously observed. At the same time, he exerted force with his left leg, dragging his battered body forward, even if each step felt like stepping on red-hot nails, he had to see this "surprise attack" through to the end.
Just as the reflective film was about to touch the black fog, the sky exploded.
It wasn't a metaphor; it really exploded.
The rusty skylight overhead was blown off with a loud crash, glass shards mixed with metal frames raining down. Immediately afterward, a thick bolt of golden lightning pierced through the clouds, plunging straight into the ground and landing right in the center of the workshop. In the instant the lightning exploded, the reflective film was caught in the storm's vortex and evaporated into a wisp of smoke before it even touched its target.
A figure descended with the lightning.
A golden-red cloak fluttered in the electric arcs, his armor gleamed with a bronze sheen, and he wielded a hammer engraved with runes. He knelt on one knee and unleashed a circular shockwave that shook the entire workshop. The man looked up, his long hair whipping wildly in the wind, his eyes like knives, piercing Malekith.
"Enemy!" the newcomer roared, his voice so loud it could shake the walls off, "I've come to end you!"
Ye Mo stopped abruptly, nearly stumbling. He blinked, three words flashing through his mind: Who is this?
But before he could react, Thor had already moved. Mjolnir was raised high above his head, the handle touching the ground, instantly drawing down a second bolt of lightning that struck the outer layer of the black mist vortex. With a boom, the black mist churned violently, its previously steady rhythm of absorption abruptly halting, and Jane Foster's body twitched.
Malekith whirled around, his purple eyes locking onto Thor, a low growl rumbling from his throat, "Asgard lackeys... dare to interfere in the sacred rites of the Dark Elves?"
"Enough nonsense!" Thor swung his hammer, leaping three meters into the air and spinning as he smashed it down on Malekith. "You sneaky, shady rat, you don't deserve to utter the word 'sacred'!"
Before the hammer arrived, lightning struck first. A bolt of lightning shot from the Hammerhead, aiming straight for Malekith's face. The latter raised his hand and waved, black mist condensing into a shield to block the attack. Lightning and darkness collided, bursting into blinding light. The shockwave sent Ye Mo staggering backward, his right foot stepping into a pool of blood, almost causing him to slip.
He gritted his teeth and steadied himself, glancing at Emma Frost out of the corner of his eye—she was still lying on the ground, but her fingers were already digging into the cement cracks, clearly trying to concentrate. Ye Mo immediately realized that she was about to make her move.
"Hold on," he murmured to himself, not daring to speak for fear of disrupting her rhythm.
Thor didn't stop after landing; instead, he fought even more fiercely. While swinging his hammer to repel the black mist spears, he shouted, "You two! Don't just stand there! This thing is afraid of lightning! A few more shocks and it'll fall apart!"
Ye Mo almost rolled his eyes: You should have said so earlier!
But he had no time to complain, because Malekith had been forced to distract himself from Thor's fierce attack, and the black mist offensive had a brief gap. Ye Mo seized the opportunity, pressing all the remaining X-Gene energy into the Steel Bone in his leg. With a crack, the metal structure of his right leg forcibly reorganized, supporting him to stand firm.
He turned to Emma Frost, gesturing with his eyes. "Now."
Emma Frost closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them again, her pupils had turned light gray. Her fingertips trembled slightly, and an invisible mental wave quietly spread out, precisely Malekith Malekith's nerve conduction rhythm—not a forceful attack, but a gentle nudge, like stuffing a grain of sand into a high-speed gear.
Malekith's movements indeed paused for a moment.
Just that half-second.
Thor keenly spotted the opening, roared, and swung Mjolnir horizontally, the handle slamming into Malekith's shoulder blade. With a crack, Malekith staggered, his hands finally leaving the vortex of Aether completely.
The vortex of black mist began to sway erratically.
"Well done!" Thor grinned, flicking the arc of electricity off his hammer. "Who are you heroes? That last move was a stroke of genius!"
Ye Mo, panting, wiped the blood from his face. "Don't praise me, we still have to fight later."
Before he could finish speaking, Malekith laughed in fury. He slowly straightened up, spread his arms, and black mist surged wildly around him, condensing into several long, whip-like tentacles, each one whistling as it tore through the air.
"Since you all want to die," he said in a chilling voice, "Then let's all go to hell together."
As soon as he finished speaking, three black mist whips struck simultaneously. One went straight for Thor's throat, one wrapped around Ye Mo's severed left arm, and the third swept across the area where Emma Frost was.
Thor reacted the fastest, raising his hammer and unleashing a burst of lightning that shattered the black mist whip that was hurtling towards him. However, he was also forced back two steps by the recoil, his feet carving two deep furrows in the ground.
Before Ye Mo could dodge, the black mist whip had already wrapped around the severed wound on his left arm. A sharp pain exploded instantly, as if his entire arm had been stuffed into a meat grinder. He groaned and instinctively tried to break free, but found that the force was dragging him toward the center of the black mist vortex.
"Hey! Let go!" he growled, slamming his right leg into the ground, Mars as his Steel Bone scraped against the concrete.
Just then, Emma Frost moved.
She didn't know where the strength came from, but she suddenly looked up, her eyes wide open, and a mental shock pierced Malekith's mind like needles. Although it only lasted for less than a second, it was enough to make him freeze in place.
Seizing this fleeting opportunity, Ye Mo unleashed the last of his strength in his right leg, propelling himself forward. Instead of retreating, he crashed into Malekith's side!
Bang!
The two collided heavily, sending Ye Mo flying several meters before his back slammed into a pile of discarded equipment, coughing up a mouthful of bloody saliva. But a smile appeared on his lips—because he clearly felt that the collision had disrupted Malekith's spellcasting rhythm.
The vortex of black mist trembled violently, its light flickering erratically.
Seeing this, Thor rushed forward without hesitation, raising Mjolnir high, his body crackling with electricity, transforming him into a walking thunderstorm. With a roar, he slammed the hammer down with immense force toward Malekith's chest.
Malekith hastily raised his hand to block, black mist condensing into a protective shield, but it was shattered by the lightning. The hammer tip grazed his chest, leaving a charred mark.
He finally took three steps back.
This was the first time tonight that he was forced to back down.
Inside the workshop, the situation completely reversed.
Thor stood in the center, hammer pointed at the enemy, surrounded by lightning, his fighting spirit soaring. Ye Mo knelt on the ground, his right arm supporting his body, his left arm still dripping blood, but his eyes were clear. Emma Frost lay on the ground, her forehead covered in cold sweat, her breathing rapid, but her fingers still trembled slightly, clearly still maintaining the mental connection.
The four faced each other, the air seemingly frozen.
Malekith stared at the three, his purple eyes burning with rage, black mist swirling around him, but he refrained from attacking rashly. He knew the fusion process had been interrupted and could not be restarted in the short term.
"You... think this will stop me?" His voice was low and menacing.
Thor sneered, "Not tonight, at least not."
Ye Mo, panting, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and whispered to Emma Frost, "He still wants to try."
Emma Frost didn't even lift her eyelids, she just nodded slightly.
Thor glanced back at them. "Can you still fight?"
Ye Mo twitched the corner of his mouth. "As long as you don't mind us holding you back."
"That's good." Thor gripped his hammer, crackling with electricity. "Now, let me teach him what true God of Thunder's power is."
Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly raised his left hand and roared at the sky, "Come on, old buddy!"
The next second, in the dark, cloud-covered night sky, a bolt of lightning even thicker than before crashed down, striking Mjolnir squarely. Thor was propelled off the ground by the force, his entire body transforming into a golden bolt of lightning as he hurtled towards Malekith.
The battle erupted once again.
Ye Mo gritted his teeth and propped himself up, his right Steel Bone creaking under the strain. He glanced at Emma Frost, who nodded slightly at him.
They knew it wasn't over yet.
But at least now I'm not carrying this burden alone.
