Group Healing, stabilizing teammates' injuries
The dark golden mist hovered in mid-air, like a slowly beating heart, its halo undulating slightly, reflecting an oily sheen onto the rock wall. Ye Mo didn't move; his left arm remained in Steel Bone Defense stance, his knuckles wedged into the cracks in the rock, his whole body taut like a fully drawn bowstring.
Thor landed firmly, hammer hanging at his side. An arc of electricity crackled twice along the edge of the Hammerhead before extinguishing. He stared at the cloud of mist, his brow furrowed deeply. "It didn't attack us."
"Nonsense, if we wanted to fight, we would have done it already." Ye Mo took a breath and slowly withdrew his arm, the metal skeleton snapping back into his flesh. "The question is—why doesn't it fight? Is it just sitting here doing square dancing for no reason?"
Emma Frost approached from the side, a makeshift bandage wrapped around her left shoulder, a small patch of fabric soaked through by the fluid seeping from her burns. Her steps were unsteady, but her eyes were still clear. "It's observing," she said, her voice a half-tone lower than usual. "I can sense... a slight mental fluctuation, not hostility, more like... a probe."
"Mental fluctuations?" Ye Mo turned to look at her. "Are you sure you can handle this? Don't let it send you an emoji and you start crying."
"Stop being so glib." Emma Frost rolled her eyes at him. "I can only detect surface emotions right now; anything deeper and I'll have a stroke. But it definitely doesn't have any murderous intent."
Thor raised his hand, and a wisp of lightning gathered at his fingertips. The wisp of mist swayed slightly and drifted half a foot closer to the direction of the arc of electricity.
"So you're a third wheel enthusiast?" Ye Mo clicked his tongue, glancing down at his right leg— the Steel Bone joint was still stuck, making walking feel like dragging a piece of scrap steel. He tried to move his knee, the bone creaking, making him wince in pain.
Just then, the system flashed in my mind: [Abnormal life fluctuations, two high-risk casualties detected].
Ye Mo paused for half a second. The notification sound came abruptly, unlike the usual forced push notifications. It was more as if he had realized something himself, and the system casually added a sentence.
He looked up at Emma Frost; the edges of the wound on her shoulder had begun to turn purple, and her skin temperature was high. Then he looked at Thor; the muscles in his right arm were noticeably relaxed, and his fingers gripping the hammer twitched occasionally, clearly a combination of the aftereffects of the electric shock and the laceration.
"Alright," Ye Mo suddenly said, "Sit down, everyone."
"What?" Thor frowned.
"I said, sit down." Ye Mo plopped down on the ground and patted the empty space next to him. "Stop pretending to be a tough guy. If you can split a loaf of bread with a hammer right now, you've won. Emma Frost, don't stand there either. If your shoulder isn't treated soon, it'll have to be amputated tomorrow."
Emma Frost didn't say anything, but silently walked over and sat down cross-legged. Thor hesitated for two seconds, then squatted down as well, placing the hammer horizontally on his lap.
"What are you going to do?" he asked.
"I'll heal you." Ye Mo closed his eyes, placed his hands on his knees, palms up. In his mind, he reached for the seventh level of the Gene Spiral Tower. There was a blurry module in that area, shaped like a coiled vine ball, which had never been activated before.
He tried touching it.
No response.
He poked it harder.
My fingertips started to feel warm.
Okay, there's a chance.
A warm, gentle energy slowly rose from the base of his spine, like drinking a sip of hot ginger tea in winter, climbing up his nerves. Ye Mo took a deep breath and pushed this energy outward.
The light came out.
It wasn't the glaring kind of light, but a warm, yellowish soft light, like the sun shining obliquely into the room at six in the evening. It spread out from Ye Mo, forming a hemispherical dome that enveloped all three of them.
"Holy crap..." Thor exclaimed, "What? The sauna's started up?"
"Don't move." Ye Mo's voice was a little deep. "This is a Regeneration wave frequency; your bodies are rebuilding damaged tissue." He paused, deliberately mimicking a system prompt in a mechanical tone, "A mild rejection reaction has been detected. Relax your nerves."
Emma Frost heard that familiar tone of voice and a slight smile appeared on her lips. Without opening her eyes, she reached out and pressed her hand to her shoulder, indicating that she would accept the treatment.
On the other side, Thor suddenly groaned, and his right arm twitched violently, as if the muscles were being clenched and unclenched by an invisible hand, repeating this several times.
"Lightning energy is clashing with external energy." Ye Mo immediately noticed this and increased his output while whispering, "Bear with it, Asgardians are physically strong and can withstand it."
Thor gritted his teeth, sweat beading on his forehead, but he didn't break free. He knew this wasn't the time to be reckless.
Emma Frost's situation wasn't peaceful either. The moment the light touched her skin, an image flashed before her eyes: a boy in black kneeling in the rain, ignored by everyone around him, raindrops dripping from his hair into his collar, which he didn't wipe away. That figure was so familiar that it sent a shiver down her spine.
She almost wanted to leave the treatment area.
But she held back.
Because she recognized that figure from behind.
It's Ye Mo.
"You've also seen other people's memories?" Thor noticed her emotional fluctuation and turned to ask.
"No," Emma Frost shook her head, "It's just... I'm a little dazed."
"Don't make wild guesses." Ye Mo said with his eyes closed, "This ability has a built-in Mental Resonance effect; it plays PowerPoint presentations for whoever has something on their mind. I just saw the story about you being locked in a dark room by the club when you were a kid, but I didn't say anything."
Emma Frost was taken aback. "You saw it?"
"It was just a fleeting moment," Ye Mo said casually. "Anyway, we all know now that you're afraid of the dark and afraid of being left behind, right?"
Emma Frost was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled, "And you? What are you most afraid of?"
"Me?" Ye Mo grinned. "I'm afraid of working overtime, afraid of rent increases, and afraid of finding myself just a background character after transmigrating."
As the two talked, the energy field gradually stabilized. Thor's convulsions stopped, and his arm regained some strength; Emma Frost's shoulder wound began to scab over, and most of the purplish-black color faded.
Ten minutes passed.
The halo slowly receded, finally shrinking back into Ye Mo's body, as still as the receding tide.
He opened his eyes, his face was a little pale, his forehead was covered in a fine layer of sweat, and his breathing was slightly heavy.
"It's done," he said, wiping his face. "Check it yourself, and report any missing parts immediately."
Emma Frost moved her left shoulder, the movement becoming fluid from its initial stiffness. She stood up, spun around in place, and nodded after confirming she was alright. "More than 70% recovered, you can continue moving."
Thor gripped the hammer handle, attempting to harness the power of lightning. A thin arc of electricity leaped from the Hammerhead, arced through the air, and exploded with a crack.
"The Thunder Pulse is activated," he said. "Although it's not at full health yet, it's enough to beat people up."
Ye Mo then pushed himself up from the ground, his right leg Steel Bone cracking a few times before finally returning to normal function. He opened his backpack, took out the detector, and glanced at it.
The green light remains on.
The pointer is pointing northwest, and there is a slight vibration.
"The Aether are still moving," he said, "And quite fast."
"Then let's chase it." Thor stepped forward, "Before it hides in the crack in the ground."
"Wait." Emma Frost suddenly raised her hand. "During the treatment just now, I caught a glimpse of information—that golden mist didn't appear randomly. It reacted to the energy we released, especially... a certain frequency within your body."
"Mine?" Ye Mo was taken aback.
"Hmm." Emma Frost nodded. "It's recognizing your biosignals, or rather... the residual wavelengths from the ability you just used. It might be mistaking us for 'carriers'."
"So it didn't attack because it thought we were allies?" Thor asked.
"Pretty much." Ye Mo stroked his chin, "Like WiFi automatically connecting to your home router."
"What was that move you just made...?" Emma Frost looked at him. "I've never seen it before."
"Newly unlocked." Ye Mo shrugged. "Given by the system, I haven't even named it yet, I'll just call it 'Group Healing Massage'."
"Sounds like a foot massage parlor promotion," Thor scoffed.
"As long as it works well, that's good." Ye Mo stuffed the detector back into his backpack and brushed the dust off his trousers. "As long as we're alive, we can work. The fact that the golden mist didn't attack us means it detected some kind of friendly frequency—maybe it's residual energy from our bodies."
"Then let's chase after it while it's still lingering." Thor gripped his hammer tightly, his gaze sweeping across the northwestern wasteland.
Emma Frost stood up, her Diamond Form briefly appearing and then disappearing, confirming she could control her body. "I'll follow."
The three lined up again.
Ye Mo led the way, using a detector to guide the direction; Emma Frost followed closely on the right, remaining vigilant; Thor brought up the rear, his eyes constantly scanning the surrounding rock formations, alert to potential threats.
The wind swirled dust across the rift valley, and on the distant horizon, a faint, dark golden light still pulsed.
They took the first step.
The ground trembled slightly, as if something was awakening underground.
Ye Mo paused, glancing down at his feet.
A faint golden light was slowly seeping out from the edge of the crack.
