Personally Appointed by the Great Emperor, Dharma King Yama
Palace of Zhoujue Yin Heaven, in the Hall of Yama.
His skin was indigo, his face was iron-like and his beard was black, yet he also had red hair and fangs.
Having shed the name "Mara," Yama, who had completely transformed from Heavenly Demon into Ghost God, now closed his eyes and bowed his head.
Only his thunderous breathing occasionally emanated from his mouth and nose, intimidating the other Ghost God in the Palace of Zhoujue Yin Heaven. The reason why the Ghost God in the Palace of Zhoujue Yin Heaven did not escape was not because they all accepted Yama's concept.
On the contrary, the Palace of Zhoujue Yin Heaven was located in the deepest part of Ghost City of Fengdu, and was among the first places to be affected by the Yin World Nether Spring and go out of control. However, before the Ghost God could act, Yama suppressed them with thunderous means.
This can be seen from the blood-stained iron rod beside Yama and the rolling skulls at his feet.
Every drop of blood on the iron rod, every skull underfoot, originates from different Ghost God.
"Call!"
Just then, a cold wind suddenly swept up from behind Yama.
The next moment, the curtain separating the inner and outer halls was blown up, revealing the true appearance of the statue of the Great Emperor of Fengdu inside.
Just like Li Boyang himself.
The Great Emperor of Fengdu was not made into a clay statue; very few portraits or clay sculptures can reproduce his true appearance.
But the Great Emperor of Fengdu in the Hall of Yama is an exception.
While the Ghost God in the other Ghost Gods of the Six Heavens Palace were avoiding the Great Emperor of Fengdu like the plague.
Yama, however, always identified himself as a "disciple of the Great Emperor of Fengdu" and personally commissioned the creation of a statue of him, which was enshrined day and night in the inner hall of the Hall of Yama.
"Who!?"
Suddenly awakened from his sleep, the voice of Yama, instantly resounded throughout the entire Hall of Yama.
The Ghost God were startled and turned their heads tremblingly towards Yama's direction. Some of the more timid Ghost God even collapsed to their knees.
As for those Yin Deity messengers belonging to the Fengdu system?
Although they also looked at the inner hall with puzzled expressions, they did not show much fear.
Conversely, some higher-ranking Yin Deity seemed to sense something, their brows furrowed in bewildered astonishment. "It's me."
When that deep, hoarse voice came from behind Yama, he instinctively froze for a moment.
Yama then realized the identity of the visitor.
He quickly stood up, turned around, knelt down, and bowed his head. The whole process was smooth and seamless, as if he had rehearsed it countless times.
"Disciple Yama pays respects to the Great Emperor of Fengdu!"
Not daring to even raise his head, Yama was so docile at this moment that he was hardly the decisive and ruthless Ghost God he was known for.
"You really know how to climb the ladder!"
Looking down at the kneeling Yama, the Great Emperor of Fengdu smiled with a hint of helplessness.
"I don't think I've ever acknowledged you as my disciple, have I?"
To the surprise of the Great Emperor of Fengdu, Yama did not show any fear or apprehension. Instead, he took the initiative and replied, "But you didn't deny it, did you?"
What Yama said was true; he didn't call himself a "disciple of the Great Emperor of Fengdu" just to make a grand claim.
After all, if the Great Emperor of Fengdu truly disliked Yama, he would have been warned when he first publicly declared it so.
Yama, who was born Heavenly Demon, is best at understanding people's hearts, and his understanding of "acknowledgment" is different from that of ordinary people.
"What a sly one..."
With a soft chuckle, the Great Emperor of Fengdu then spoke.
"Stand up! I don't like it when someone kneels down to talk to me."
Upon hearing this, Yama immediately stood up obediently again, showing no sign of resistance whatsoever.
"I know you've always wanted to be a Yin God..."
"They've been plotting this ever since before you were even imprisoned here."
"Your pursuit of freedom and power is your very nature as Heavenly Demon, and it is also the desire of all living beings."
At this point, the Great Emperor of Fengdu paused slightly.
I am fully aware of everything that happened here.
"I'm so glad you stepped in at the crucial moment and saved the lives of those Yin Deity and ghost messengers."
"So if you want to leave, I can set you free right now."
Upon hearing this, Yama looked up in astonishment, no longer caring about his reverence for the Great Emperor of Fengdu.
"Are you trying to force me to leave the Palace of Zhoujue Yin Heaven?"
Yama's hoarse screams echoed throughout the entire Hall of Yama, once again drawing the attention of all the Ghost God, and ghost messengers.
Noticing this, the Great Emperor of Fengdu frowned slightly, a rare occurrence for him.
"I'm not kicking you out, I'm setting you free."
After correcting Yama's statement, the Great Emperor of Fengdu wanted to say something more, but Yama decisively shook his head in denial.
"To me, it makes no difference."
"I am your disciple, whether you acknowledge it or not, I have always believed so."
"If you insist on sending me away, I am willing to leave, but that is absolutely not my intention!"
Silently gazing at Yama, the Great Emperor of Fengdu's gaze seemed to pierce through his soul.
Yet he still held his head high, unafraid of the scrutiny of the Great Emperor of Fengdu, revealing his arrogance and resentment.
"You've found a sense of belonging while in jail? You're truly the first person I've ever met."
After a moment, the Great Emperor of Fengdu sighed deeply, but did not bring up the topic again.
"Since you don't want to leave, why should I force you to leave?"
"However, you are aware of the current situation in the Netherworld; it is precisely when we need manpower."
"After discussing it with the Lord, we decided to establish the Ten Halls of the Nether Capital between the Ghost Gods of the Six Heavens Palace and the Nine Prisons and Nine Springs, specifically to handle such emergencies."
"Would you like to be the first person in charge of this organization?"
His pupils dilated sharply, and Yama, completely bewildered, continued to stare at the Great Emperor of Fengdu, his thoughts still caught off guard by the abrupt shift in the topic. "You mean... you want me to become a true Yin Deity?"
Gently shaking his head, the Great Emperor of Fengdu spoke again to Orthodox Dao.
"It's not Yin Deity, it's the Dharma King."
"If you're willing, starting today, you'll be the ' Dharma King Yama '."
"You can wield the true Book of Life and Death, appoint judges, impermanent beings, and ghost soldiers at will, and you are only responsible to me and the Lord."
Yama was never a fool; he immediately understood the unspoken meaning behind the words of the Great Emperor of Fengdu.
The current Wuchang, Yin Deity, and Gui Messengers are all directly under the command of the Great Emperor of Fengdu, essentially acting as a direct subordinate agency.
Now, after discussing with the Netherworld Lord, the Great Emperor of Fengdu has decided to add ten subordinate institutions in addition to this directly subordinate institution—the so-called "Ten Halls of the Nether Capital" by the Great Emperor of Fengdu.
These ten palaces are equivalent to ten other Ghost City of Fengdu, and the Dharma King is their administrator, possessing the right to appoint officials and recruit soldiers at his own discretion. It's obvious what enormous power this is, equivalent to a disguised form of granting land and titles to kings.
"This disciple is willing!"
Overjoyed, he suddenly knelt down, and Yama's voice once again resounded throughout the entire Hall of Yama.
"Your disciple is willing to serve you like a dog or a horse!"
