Pewter Gym's Investment

"You can choose a Pokemon Egg from here, or exchange it for 30 million in Breeding Funds. The choice is yours."

After dinner, Brock took Tetsuya to the Incubation Room to choose a Pokemon Egg.

Generally speaking, aside from accepting support from the Joy Family, an outstanding Commoner Trainer would at most reach investment agreements with two or three other forces.

This was because alliances and conflicts of interest existed between every force. If a trainer accepted investments from too many forces, then when conflicts arose, they would either be unable to side with either party or end up fighting themselves.

Naturally, this was not something those forces wanted to see. They could not just let someone take resources for free, so this rule had formed through mutual understanding.

Tetsuya's willingness to accept Pewter Gym's investment was also a decision he had made after investigation and analysis.

As one of the oldest and strongest of the Eight Gyms in the Kanto Region, Pewter Gym was an extremely good choice.

After all, Viridian Gym belonged to Giovanni, Cerulean Gym was in decline and would be more cautious with investments, while Vermilion Gym had a poor reputation and was relatively weaker.

Celadon Gym's leader only sponsored female trainers, Fuchsia Gym required knowledge of ninjutsu, Saffron Gym required one to be a Psychic or possess a Psychic Type Pokemon, and Cinnabar Gym's leader Blaine had an eccentric temperament.

All things considered, Pewter Gym was the only relatively normal one among the eight gyms.

Tetsuya examined the Pokemon Eggs in the room. Their quality truly far surpassed those outside.

"Nosepass, Roggenrola, Rockruff, Rhyhorn, Gligar, Drilbur, Swinub, Wooper..."

"The Pokemon Eggs stored here are all absolutely top-quality. Even I can't choose them for breeding right now.

"This is a Larvitar, a descendant of my father's Tyranitar, estimated to have Quasi-Champion potential.

"This is a Trapinch, that one is an Aron, and over there are descendants of my grandfather's Champion Swampert, along with a Jangmo-o.

"They probably don't have Champion Potential, but they have a High Probability of being Quasi-Champion, with only a very small chance of being Elite Four Level."

Brock introduced them to Tetsuya with a hint of Show Off.

Tetsuya was indeed jealous. The Final Forms of those five Pokemon were Tyranitar, Flygon, Aggron, Swampert, and Kommo-o. Is this what a rich person's Pokemon look like?

And after checking with Zero, he found that the Larvitar had Champion Potential, while the other four were all Quasi-Champion. Combined with the large number of Elite, Quasi-Elite Four, and Elite Four potential Pokemon outside, the value of this single Breeding Room was nearing four billion.

It was simply suffocating.

"With such an enormous base, each species produces no more than fifty Elite-potential Pokemon Eggs a year. Some only produce one or two, or even single-digit numbers.

"Quasi-Elite Four are even rarer, while eggs with Elite Four potential appear extremely infrequently.

"The Pokemon Egg reserves you just saw at our Pewter Gym may seem numerous, but they were accumulated over several decades.

"They are still mainly Elite potential. In the second room, Quasi-Elite Four and Elite Four potential eggs make up less than twenty percent, and only around a dozen have Elite Four Level potential.

"And reaching Elite Four aptitude does not mean a Pokemon will definitely become Elite Four Level. It only means that its progress before reaching Quasi-Elite Four will be relatively smooth.

"The higher the aptitude, the faster it will pass through its weak stage.

"But there are thresholds between Quasi-Elite Four and Elite Four, and for breakthroughs afterward as well. Elite Four aptitude only means that a Pokemon has the possibility of breaking through; unlike Quasi-Elite Four aptitude, it does not cut off its room for improvement.

"If a trainer does not train it properly, it is not uncommon for a Pokemon with Elite Four aptitude to stop at Quasi-Elite Four and fail to break through to Elite Four.

"That is how the potential of many Pokemon ends up being wasted."

That was also why Brock had not cared much at first that Tetsuya possessed two high-potential Pokemon.
