Geodude's Training Plan

Brock walked through the Gym, and the staff and apprentices greeted him when they saw him.

"You're pretty popular," Tetsuya teased.

"Hahaha, of course. I'm very approachable." Brock tilted his head toward Tetsuya.

As the two ventured deeper inside, there were gradually fewer people around them, replaced by one room and field after another.

"There are six Breeding Rooms here, each corresponding to Pokemon of different levels. Dedicated Breeder teams are responsible for caring for the Pokemon inside. If you have any Pokemon that need boarding, you can leave them here for free.

"Some apprentices also board their Pokemon here. As long as they pay part of the fee, we'll take responsibility for training them."

"This is the Training Ground. It's divided into seven sections for different kinds of training. You can come here when you want to train in the future. It's hard to explain properly with words alone."

Brock kept introducing the rooms on both sides as he pointed at them.

"As for this side, it's the Activity Area. Pokemon usually rest, play around, and relax there. The Treatment Room is next door. The Joy Family works with us and provides some services, which are also free for you.

"Further over is the Incubation Room, where Pokemon Eggs are incubated and stored. We'll head there later.

"At the very back are the private Breeding Rooms belonging to my father, my grandfather, and me. They're mainly for our own Pokemon."

Listening to Brock's introduction as he looked around, Tetsuya felt it was no wonder that members of Gyms and families were far stronger than ordinary Trainers when they had such a systematic training structure.

Tetsuya followed him inside. It was a plain and unadorned Rock Field. Well, aside from being ridiculously huge, it had no other special features.

Brock walked behind a rock and crouched down.

"Geodude, wake up."

"Lassai~"

A gray, round stone with a human-like face floated out into the air. It was Geodude.

That was not all. Brock picked up a shovel nearby and knocked it against the ground. "Onix, come out too."

Rumble...

Accompanied by a tremendous roar, an Onix made of numerous massive gray boulders and shaped like a snake burrowed out of the ground.

"Roar~~"

The Onix greeted Brock as well.

Tetsuya looked at Brock. "This is the Geodude?"

"That's right. It's my second Pokemon, and it just passed the Young Stage.

"I already gave you the data from its instrument tests, so I'll leave the specific Training Plan to you.

"Onix is just here for you to meet. It's my Starter Pokemon and is already Elite."

Brock smiled.

Tetsuya nodded and walked up to Geodude.

Geodude curiously watched the boy. Its Trainer had told it long ago that someone would be coming to handle its training.

It had long been impatient to grow stronger, so that the larger Onix would stop mocking it for being weak.

Tetsuya watched Geodude for a while before standing up.

"Just to be safe, Brock, please take Geodude through another round of tests. I'll watch from the side."

"No problem. This way." Brock had expected it.

He sent Onix back to rest, then led Tetsuya and Geodude toward a door on the right side of the field.

He turned on the lights.

"This is the Testing Room. The instruments here cover basically every type of test a Pokemon needs, and they're highly accurate."

As he spoke, he had Geodude cooperate with him in a complete set of tests.

As Tetsuya watched Brock busy himself, he kept learning as well.

After all, Testing Rooms like this were usually impossible to find outside.

If you wanted to test your Pokemon's exact condition at any time other than certification assessments, you had to pay someone specifically, and they would only give you a report.

He did not even know what each instrument did. He had only encountered them briefly while studying at League school.

This should be the Energy Display Meter, this was the Rock-type Pokemon Density Meter, this one was the Attack Testing Machine, and that Should Be the Endurance Test.

The two sat down on a nearby sofa, and Brock poured them each a glass of water.

"Thank you." Tetsuya accepted the water and thanked Brock before carefully reading the report.

But no Breeder could produce a plan that quickly. Not even a Breeding Master could do it.

Brock was not anxious in the slightest when he saw this. He leisurely began brewing tea, occasionally operating something through his wristwatch.

Two quiet hours passed like that, and it was nearly time for dinner.

Only then did Brock speak up to remind Tetsuya.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't notice the time." Tetsuya looked rather embarrassed.

"But it really is time for dinner. Why not eat here at our Gym?

"You can finish the Training Plan when you get back and send it to me. After dinner, we'll sort out your benefits."

"Then I won't stand on ceremony." Tetsuya did not refuse.

The two chatted and laughed as they headed toward the dining hall.
