Combusken was currently training its core strength in the Gravity Room at Pewter Gym's Training Ground.

"Raise yourself a little higher. Hold the final position for two seconds before lowering yourself."

"Cha."

Combusken forced out a sound and adjusted its movements.

"After five more... rest a little. Then... three more sets."

Tetsuya was also exercising on a field with mild Gravity applied, watching Combusken's progress at the same time.

His upper body was already drenched in sweat.

"Once Roggenrola evolves, we can focus on training its control over Gravity-type moves.

That way, we can use Gravity for training anytime, anywhere. Weighted Vests still have their limits."

Tetsuya's body kept moving, but his mind never stopped thinking.

Seeing Roggenrola nearby replenishing its nutrients while training its moves, he reminded it, "Roggenrola, you can stop your move training in fifteen minutes. Don't overconsume your stored energy."

"Dangoro!"

Roggenrola indicated that it understood.

Perhaps because of its natural attributes, Roggenrola had an exceptionally steady temperament, completely unlike a Pokémon that had only just passed its Young Stage.

After finishing his final set, Tetsuya stood up. Combusken was already resting nearby.

Seeing that its Trainer had finished exercising, Combusken picked up the towel beside it and handed it to him.

"Cha, Chamo!"

"Thanks, Combusken." Tetsuya took the towel and wiped the sweat from his upper body. "What are you so proud of just because I was slower than you? Looks like you didn't train hard enough if you still have the energy to think about that."

He spoke irritably.

When Combusken had handed him the towel earlier, it had even mocked him for working out so slowly today.

Shook Head, Tetsuya thought his Combusken's usual personality was simply bizarre. It was nothing like the typical hot-tempered Fire-type Pokémon.

If he had to describe it with an adjective, it would probably be punchable. Fortunately, it took battles and training very seriously and was not too mischievous.

"Once you've rested, take Nutrient Potion No. 3. Then add another set of core training. After that, keep your usual weight and Gravity multiplier and complete five sets of Legs muscle training."

Tetsuya instructed Combusken.

"I'm going to check on Pidgeot in the Wind Pressure Room. Keep an eye on Roggenrola, and once it finishes training its moves, have it go to the Materials Room to absorb 500 grams of Rock No. 3."

"Chamo."

Combusken nodded.

"Chamo?"

"That's right. Once it's done, just have it control the circulation of its internal energy like before. It's much less trouble than you are. Why would it need you to tell it?"

"Cha!"

"Alright, alright, you're right. You've rested enough, haven't you? Hurry up and finish the potion, then go train. Once you're done, head to the Energy Room to practice energy control."

Tetsuya took a drink of water and stood up. Ignoring Combusken's complaints behind him that his reply had been halfhearted, he headed for the Wind Pressure Room to check Pidgeot's progress.

After Combusken finished its potion, it thought that aside from being a little handsome, cooking delicious food, being good at training, and giving decent commands, its Trainer had no merits at all.

This guy definitely didn't have a girlfriend. He really didn't know how to talk.

It stood up and Sighed silently. It Still Need To train on its own. Pokémon had it far too hard these days.

"Achoo."

Walking on the Road, Tetsuya sneezed. "Did I catch a chill after training? I really should put on a jacket."

When he arrived at the Wind Pressure Room, Pidgeot was training inside.

After greeting the Trainers resting nearby, Tetsuya entered the corresponding Observation Room next door.

Simply put, the Wind Pressure Room simulated natural Hurricane conditions. Flying-type Pokémon could train their Physical Body and develop their understanding of energy inside.

Since Pewter Gym was a Rock-type Gym, Brock had said that its Wind Pressure Room was relatively small.

At Gyms that specialized in Flying-types, the Wind Pressure Room was a key facility, and some of them were absurdly large.

The Wind Pressure Room was also divided into individual small chambers. Most of each chamber served as a Training Ground, while the remaining section was separated off as an Observation Room for the Trainer.

The two were separated by a reinforced transparent glass panel.

From the Observation Room, a Trainer could observe and direct their Pokémon's training through a broadcast system.

Watching Pidgeot fly against the wind, Tetsuya nodded. It seemed Pidgeot had not been slacking off either.

He brought up Zero's Panel and frowned.

The higher the level, the slower energy increased, and the slower leveling became.

It had been nearly a month since Pidgeot had reached Level 43, yet it was still only at Level 44.

At this pace, by the Indigo Plateau Conference, Pidgeot would be at most around Level 50.

Still, although its level had not changed, Pidgeot had improved greatly through this period of training.

Its Physical Fitness had improved considerably, and its Skill Proficiency had risen as well.

However, it seemed that moves of different attributes were indeed difficult for Pidgeot to improve in proficiency and power.

Tetsuya narrowed his eyes as he considered the Heat Wave move displayed on the panel.

After Combusken learned Heat Wave, he had it teach the move to Pidgeot.

However, the two Pokémon had progressed at entirely different speeds with this move.

At first, both Pokémon's Heat Waves could only be described as simple blasts of High Temperature wind. Apart from making opponents feel stifled and speeding up their stamina consumption, they had little practical use.

But as Combusken's mastery improved, its Heat Wave could now inflict a burn on some Pokémon.

Pidgeot's Heat Wave, on the other hand, had only increased slightly in power.

Heat Wave was a powerful Fire-type Ultimate Move, but every move required training. Otherwise, aside from a small number of status moves, the damage dealt when a move was first learned would not be nearly as impressive as imagined.

Fortunately, Tetsuya had not expected Pidgeot to use Heat Wave to deal massive damage. Its main purpose was to broaden its offensive coverage, which was at least some improvement.

Pidgeot's greatest improvement still lay in its command of flight and its understanding of wind.

Although it still had not mastered either of the Ultimate Moves Brave Bird or Sky Attack, its mastery of Hurricane was an unexpected delight.

Moreover, Pidgeot had now basically fulfilled Tetsuya's requirements: maintaining Agility and Quick Attack for extended periods without losing flexibility.

Long ago, Tetsuya had wanted Pidgeot to win through speed and make full use of its strengths.

Unfortunately, maintaining Agility and Quick Attack for long periods placed extremely high demands on stamina and move control.

Before this, Pidgeot had never been able to accomplish that goal well.

But through its recent training in the Wind Pressure Room, Pidgeot had gradually found the right state for maintaining Agility and gained a deeper understanding of the move.

Combined with the constant use of Quick Attack, Pidgeot could now be said to have reached its current limit in terms of speed.

At the very least, carrying Tetsuya while escaping would not be a problem, provided Tetsuya protected himself properly. Otherwise, the pressure at such high speeds could leave him extremely uncomfortable.

After watching for a long while, Tetsuya walked over to the microphone and spoke through the broadcast system. "Training is over for today, Pidgeot. You can rest now. I'm shutting down the wind pressure generator, so be careful."
