During Tetsuya's not particularly long journey,

he had encountered pitifully few trainers who specialized in Ghost Type Pokemon.

Other than Gym Leader Morty of Ecruteak City in Johto,

there was only the trainer named Matsumoto Matsushita whom he had met during the Dragon Trial in Blackthorn City.

On one hand, Ghost Type Pokemon were considerably rarer than Pokemon of other types.

And due to their longer lifespans, nearly every one of them was fairly powerful.

It was quite difficult for ordinary trainers to catch them in the wild.

On the other hand,

the various long-standing rumors surrounding Ghost Type Pokemon clearly did not paint a positive image for humans.

Especially when those rumors were not false.

Most Ghost Type Pokemon needed to consume Life Energy, or even souls, in order to grow stronger.

For trainers, that was downright deadly.

Only a small number of exceptionally unusual people could selectively overlook this little "hobby" of theirs.

For example, Agatha's family.

Or the family living atop Mt. Pyre, not far from Mauville City.

Perhaps because of these reasons,

most Ghost Type moves seemed especially bizarre.

Such as Destiny Bond, which could cause both the enemy and oneself to enter a Fainting State.

Though it had many restrictions, it was usually a miraculous move that allowed the weak to defeat the strong.

And Shadow Sneak.

One's own shadow would seemingly come alive, controlled by a Ghost Type Pokemon as it launched an attack.

And because of the distance involved, it was extraordinarily fast, leaving virtually no time to react.

Nightmare, Curse, Grudge, and so on.

Judging these moves by their direct power alone, they might as well have had none.

But the effects they could cause were enough to give anyone a massive headache.

The raging Sandstorm swiftly filled
