Background / History

Blaziken evolved from Combusken while Tetsuya was contemplating its evolution. Its new body initially released uncontrolled flames from its arms and legs, but it quickly withdrew them under Tetsuya's guidance. Pidgeot and Boldore celebrated the evolution with it, while Blaziken lowered itself so Tetsuya could still pat its head despite its increased height. 79

Its growth was exceptionally rapid: by the time of its training at the Pokémon Research School, it had evolved and attained its current strength within roughly five months of birth. Chen assessed it as having at least Quasi-Champion potential, citing its developed calf muscles, energy intensity, reaction ability, and combat training. 89 105

Cynthia's Lucario recognized Blaziken's extraordinary aptitude for both Fighting techniques and Aura, voluntarily teaching it Aura use during its stay. This training made Blaziken capable of Aura sensing, Aura-based communication, and Aura Sphere. 107 263

Blaziken achieved its Elite Four breakthrough while fighting Team Rocket in a snowy environment, after being unable to find a suitably matched opponent for a planned breakthrough battle. 431 It later received a portion of Volcano Rock from Charicific Valley's Charizard Boss and absorbed a crimson square rock inscribed with the word “Giant,” which Professor Birch identified as an ancient item connected to unusual Fire Energy. 407 704

Appearance

Blaziken is a tall, athletic avian Pokémon with white feathers, blue eyes, a V-shaped comb, sharp bandaged claws, and heavily developed legs. It stands approximately 2.25 meters tall and weighs 65 kilograms; Zero judged this physique to be close to ideal for its combat style. 79

Despite its confidence, it follows Tetsuya's instructions closely and displays considerable patience in combat when a tactical opening is needed. Its Aura connection allows it to understand Tetsuya's intentions nearly instantaneously. 431 451

It is also attentive toward Tetsuya, such as kneeling after evolving so he could be petted, and remained beside him when his uncontrolled Psychic awakening endangered the area. 79 547
