Month-end wrap-up
End-of-month summary.
A month has passed in the blink of an eye, and "The Big Stick Gets the Best Beating" has been on the market for a month. Let me report on the results: the book reached 20,000 average subscriptions the day before yesterday.
It's pretty good. This is my second book to reach 20,000 average sales. Personally, I'm quite satisfied. Of course, it's mainly thanks to everyone's support.
I originally planned to write a separate chapter today to ask for monthly votes and stabilize my position on the monthly vote ranking, but after careful analysis, I feel it's impossible to catch up. The increase in monthly votes at the end of the month is absolutely amazing, hahaha.
For a new book, staying at number ten on the monthly ticket chart for so long is quite an achievement, and I should be content. I'll keep up the good work next month.
Let's talk about the update volume. I updated 290,000 words this month, which is almost 10,000 words a day, breaking my personal writing record again.
The updates have been a bit slow these past few days, mainly because we've entered a new storyline. I've been spending my days writing detailed outlines, laying foreshadowing, and thinking about the plot. Writing cases is like that; it's very mentally taxing, a drawback of the genre.
I've been working really hard at typing. For the past month, aside from eating, sleeping, and working, I've spent all my free time at the keyboard.
Even if my left and right hands wanted to show off, I wouldn't allow it (doge).
Now let's talk about the plot. The first volume, "The Capital Evaluation," is mainly set in the officialdom of the capital. It lays the groundwork for the second, third, and fourth volumes, and attentive readers should remember some of these foreshadowings. The most obvious one is the foreshadowing of Shen Shu.
There were other subtle foreshadowing elements, a whole bunch of random things, that I would have forgotten if I hadn't taken notes.
Writing about the second generation of demons taught me patience. Many dialogues in the beginning that seem meaningless at first glance actually planted a lot of foreshadowing, which will be filled in slowly later.
I'll still give back the extra chapters for the Alliance Leader, but I'll wait until I've sorted out the plot of Yunzhou before writing any more. I can't write fast until I have a clearer picture. At eighteen, my energy is limited, and I've caught a cold these past few days, feeling drowsy after taking medicine.
I'm not one to save up drafts. How should I put it? I need to be in the right frame of mind when I'm writing. When I'm in the right frame of mind, I can write like a machine, but when I'm not, I get stuck and can't write anything for a long time.
When I was writing about the second generation of demons, I had already stockpiled tens of thousands of words. Then I gradually got stuck, ran out of drafts, and eventually started updating every day, writing and publishing as I went.
After writing this new book, I thought I would improve and have a steady stream of manuscripts. But in the end, I'm still the same young man I always was, without a single change!
That's awesome!
By the way, there will be more updates after midnight. I've already written half a chapter, but I don't know when I'll finish.
Thank you everyone for your support.
