An exhausting day, and a few thoughts
This volume is two-thirds complete. After the Zheng Xinghuai incident, many foreshadowing elements in this volume will gradually come to light.
Including this volume and earlier, I will explain many illogical points and fill in any gaps.
What follows is a process of digging and filling in plot holes, then using them to build a grand climax. Well, that's my idea, but I haven't figured out the details yet. Whether I can write it well depends on my writing skills.
The story of Lao Zheng represents a shift in the protagonist's mindset. Initially, Xu Baipiao wanted to become a rich man and live a monotonous life with multiple wives and concubines.
Later, he wanted to curry favor with Wei Yuan, hoping to gain access to resources and advance his rank.
Later, after a brainstorming session, he decided to align himself with the imperial court and fight against the mastermind behind the scenes.
Now, he no longer wants to be an official; he wants to be an idealistic, lawless warrior.
This is a gradual, cyclical shift in mindset.
I will put my heart into writing the second volume. After this part of the story is finished, I will take a day off to slowly work out the outline and details, and to dig out some of the subtle foreshadowing from the first and second volumes and continue them.
As for today, I didn't sleep last night and dragged my tired body home in the dark. My mind is a mess, I desperately need rest and sleep, and I just can't write anything. Even if I forced myself to write, it would probably just be a pile of garbage, so I might as well not update.
By the way, could you please give me a monthly pass? Mwah!
