It's book launch time again. Actually, a week ago, I didn't plan to write a launch message because I felt we were already so familiar with each other.

But Beihe (my editor) told me that I should write it because this book is the beginning of a new step in my writing journey.

really.

From "Sisters" to "The Second Generation of Demons," I've been constantly changing my subject matter, always stepping out of my comfort zone.

After finishing my first novel, I immediately started a new entertainment novel, and I figured it would do much better than "The Legend of the Demon King." But that would also limit me to a particular genre, preventing me from breaking free.

For an author, expanding their writing path is extremely important. Even if you become a master in a certain genre, you are destined to face a decline in your career.

Because human inspiration is limited, if you write about a certain topic for too long, it's hard to come up with anything new. Only by expanding your subject matter and broadening your horizons can you have a flash of inspiration in other subjects and reach new heights.

This isn't me talking nonsense, because the market has already provided the rules.

Of course, there's another reason. Qin Baobao is probably the female protagonist I haven't been able to surpass in the last decade, so to avoid her dominance, I wrote a story about a second-generation demon with urban superpowers.

This is a completely new field for me. The results were so-so, but at least I sold the copyright. To be honest, when I was planning the outline for the second generation of demons, I was exploring the copyright direction, so this book is not a wish-fulfillment novel.

Even now, some people are still sending me razor blades because of the ending of "The Devil's Child"—no, I actually received razor blades! Guys, have some decency, hahaha.

But you know what, the story framework of "The Second Generation of Demons" and the experiences and stories of several key characters are indeed very suitable for adaptation.

Leaving aside Xianyu, both Wangchen and Grandma are characters who could be made into an animated feature film (dream on).

After finishing "The Second Generation of Demons," I felt deeply inadequate and promised everyone that my next book would be a "cool" novel (to quell the anger of the masses). So, I spent three months serializing hundreds of thousands of words of side stories on my public WeChat account in the style of a "cool" novel.

Hehe, isn't it nice to get something for free?

I can proudly say that there aren't many authors like me. Are there any authors like me who have updated their public accounts for free for three months and reached hundreds of thousands of words?

After stopping the updates of the side stories, I started to conceive of "The Nightwatchers". Because the background is ancient and it is a fantasy novel, I read materials and history books every day to enrich my historical knowledge.

History is a field I've never explored before, and for a young author who's almost thirty—oops, eighteen—it's a very demanding task, and I've considered giving up several times.

For example, I wrote 60,000 to 70,000 words of script just for the opening of the story about the Nightwatchers, and I almost broke down.

It really wasn't easy.

Here, I want to especially thank one guy: Rong Xiaorong.

A history enthusiast.

He was my special consultant. Whenever I encountered a knowledge gap, I would ask him, "Hey, what was the power structure of the imperial court?" "Hey, what rank was a Minister?" "Hey, what was the ancient military system like?"

There's only one area where he's inferior to me in knowledge: brothel culture.

Having a friend with whom you can confide and exchange knowledge on your writing journey is a very happy and important thing.

Also, I'd like to thank my editor, Beihe. He's a very responsible person. Whenever I have a question, he answers it in great detail and helps me solve any problems I encounter while writing.

It was also Beihe that gave me my first splash screen.

This filled me with a sense of relief that I hadn't chosen the wrong person to rely on.

There was a six-month hiatus between "The Second Generation Demon" and "The Nightwatchers." During that time, many friends told me, "If you don't start writing again soon, your readers will forget about you."

But I waited half a year before I started writing the book because it's not an urban fantasy or supernatural story; it's a fantasy novel set in ancient times.

It's written in a "feel-good" style.

Since I promised everyone I'd write a satisfying, action-packed story when the second generation of demons ended, I definitely need to make thorough preparations.

This is my sincerity, and it reflects the craftsmanship I have always upheld.

Fortunately, the Nightwatchers's performance was quite good, not letting down the efforts I had put in over the past six months, and I'm sure he didn't disappoint everyone either.

The Nightwatchers isn't just a typical wish-fulfillment story, nor is it a tragedy. What I mean is that its core is actually quite powerful, and it will gradually unfold as the story progresses. Its storytelling, foreshadowing, and logic are all stronger than those of the second generation of demons.

This book was released at midnight; please support me with your first subscription.

I'll update a few chapters around midnight. I'm currently writing, and I'll write as much as I can.

I hope everyone will give me a good start, recognizing my hard work and sincerity over the past six months.

After it's published, I'll guarantee at least 8,000 words per day. I wouldn't dare promise more. I'm a bit of a neurotic author; when I don't feel like writing, I'll take a break, and when I do feel like writing, updating more than 10,000 words a day is common.

Here comes a young man who radiates positive energy!

PY wrote a book, Erjiang's "The Great Pharmacist System," that bastard, even PY is trying to smear me.
