Wen Zhixin was already irritated and couldn't be bothered to keep arguing with him.
"Enough. Hurry up and get into the dining room. The production team seems to have other tasks planned today. We can talk after breakfast."
She added a pointed reminder. "Chu Yu made today's breakfast. You know what to do in a minute, right?"
Wen Tianqi curled his lip in disdain, growing even more contemptuous of Wen Zhixin's behavior.
If it weren't for the money, he wouldn't bother dealing with someone so fake.
"I know. Just deliberately hint to the viewers that Chu Yu's cooking isn't as good as yours."
Seeing that he understood what to do, Wen Zhixin said no more. She put on her good-big-sister persona again and walked into the dining room, appearing on the livestream camera.
Wen Tianqi followed behind her, his head lowered as he considered how to make Chu Yu's cooking seem awful.
But the moment he stepped into the dining room, the rich, savory aroma of congee wafted into his nose. Having yet to eat, he grew even hungrier, and his stomach began to rumble.
Chapter 17
The rumbling of his stomach caught the attention of the four people at the nearby dining table.
Chu Yu happened to turn her head and immediately spotted the Wen siblings at the door.
"You're both up. Breakfast is ready. Come and eat."
After politely greeting them, Chu Yu paid them no further attention, turning back to help herself to more dishes and drink her congee.
Seeing the other siblings already enjoying their breakfast, Wen Tianqi couldn't help swallowing.
He quickened his steps and sat down at the table. At the sight of the various dishes and pumpkin congee laid out on it, his eyes instantly lit up.
"What a lavish breakfast! What kind of congee is this?"
Little An Yu answered between spoonfuls of congee. "Big Sis told me it's grouper and pumpkin congee."
Wen Tianqi was even more delighted to hear that.
He had never eaten rice congee made with grouper before.
All traces of his groggy, just-out-of-bed sluggishness vanished as Wen Tianqi eagerly picked up a bowl and began ladling himself some congee.
As for Wen Zhixin's earlier instructions, he had long since tossed them to the back of his mind.
Wen Zhixin sat down gracefully at the table and looked up at her younger brother across from her.
According to the plan they had just discussed, Wen Tianqi was supposed to take a casual taste of the congee, then start making veiled digs at Chu Yu to elevate Wen Zhixin.
Unexpectedly, however, Wen Tianqi took one mouthful after another, his eyes and expression growing increasingly excited. Not only did he show no sign of complaining, he seemed unable to control himself, as though he had tasted a peerless delicacy.
At the sight, Wen Zhixin had a bad feeling and quickly coughed hard, trying to remind Wen Tianqi.
But she coughed for so long that her throat was practically smoking.
Wen Tianqi still showed no reaction, remaining wholly focused on drinking his congee.
Just then, Chu Yu finished her congee and put down her bowl and chopsticks, looking up at Wen Zhixin, who had suddenly started coughing nonstop.
"Zhixin, have you caught a cold? Why do you keep coughing?"
At those words, everyone's gaze instantly converged on Wen Zhixin.
Wen Zhixin hurriedly gave an awkward, hollow laugh. "No, no. My throat just feels a little uncomfortable. It's an old problem."
Chu Yu's expression turned odd. "All right, then. Take care of your throat."
Only then did Wen Tianqi, who had been wolfing down his food, remember their earlier plan.
He looked hesitantly at the congee in his bowl.
No matter how he thought about it, he couldn't find a single fault with the congee to smear it with.
Besides, every guest had tasted it, and it was obviously delicious.
If he said it was bad now, wouldn't he plainly be picking a fight on purpose?
With that thought, Wen Tianqi ignored Wen Zhixin's pointed looks from across the table and went back to drinking his congee with his head down.
Meanwhile, Wen Zhixin, whose eyes were almost cramping from all her meaningful glances, could only grit her teeth and give up struggling.
Before long, An Yu finished breakfast. Patting his little belly, his young face glowing with happiness, he said, "Today's breakfast was so delicious! Will Big Sis Chu Yu cook again tomorrow?"
An Ya shook her head with a helpless smile. "It'll be my turn to cook tomorrow."
An Yu was visibly disappointed to hear that, but he still loved his sister very much. He looked at her with a smile. "That's okay. I like your cooking too."
As the siblings finished breakfast one after another, the staff around them also breathed a sigh of relief.
At last, they no longer had to endure this onslaught of delicious food.
The show's director seized the opportunity to come over and announce today's task.
"It looks like everyone enjoyed a wonderful breakfast today. I'm sure you're all full of energy now. Next, let's have the big sisters and little brothers experience some thrills together!"
At the word "thrills," the guests all frowned, sensing that this might not be anything good.
"That's right! Today, the production team has arranged a thrilling, heart-pounding day at an amusement park for all our sibling guests!"
With that, the director smiled and handed the guests their amusement park day-trip check-in booklets.
Chu Yu opened her booklet, and the corners of her mouth immediately twitched at its contents.
The attractions the production team required the guests to check in at and experience were almost all extremely challenging ones, such as the Sky Roller Coaster, the Leaping Drop Tower, and the Underworld City Haunted House.
They plainly wanted to see the guests make fools of themselves.
Fortunately, Chu Yu had already played on all these attractions until she was bored of them, so there was nothing much to fear.
Her younger brother, however, was another story.
With Chu Chen's courage, he would probably really wail like ghosts and howl like wolves.
Sure enough, Chu Chen, who had looked completely indifferent just moments earlier, immediately darkened upon reading the booklet.
Chu Yu leaned over to fan the flames. "Little brother, you're not scared, are you?"
Chu Chen gritted his teeth in anger and clenched the booklet. "I'm not! Who's scared?"
Chu Yu nodded with an air of solemn conviction. "Then I can rest easy. But little brother, you really mustn't push yourself too hard, or your big sister's heart will ache."
