It came true
Cloud-Stilling Temple chat group.
"Counting the days, it's been almost a week, hasn't it?"
This was a chat group Lin Feng had created back when he went to have his fortune told, after adding too many people as contacts.
At the moment, the group alone had eight hundred and fifty-nine members.
After someone spoke up, others soon began asking questions.
"Yeah, it's been almost a week now. Where's the group owner? How are things going? Come tell us!"
"I feel like it might be fake. I've honestly never seen anyone tell fortunes that accurately."
"Exactly. If he could really tell fortunes that accurately, would he ever have to worry about money? Would he still be a lay practitioner at a Taoist temple?"
The people in the group began to grow doubtful. When they had first seen the news, it had certainly felt quite miraculous.
But as time passed, they gradually began to feel that something was a little off.
Generally speaking, deep down, they all thought this sort of thing was fake.
Lin Feng was still at work. When his phone kept vibrating, he picked it up and saw the group members tagging him, asking him to come say something.
At the sight, Lin Feng frowned, then sighed inwardly.
To be honest, he had held great hopes for Su Mu before. After all, Su Mu had said he could achieve a modest measure of success in his career.
But even now, there had not been the slightest sign of anything happening.
However he looked at it, it seemed fake.
Even the friends who had gone with him before had stopped asking about it.
Lin Feng: "I don't know. Nothing's happened on my end so far, anyway."
Lin Feng told the group the truth. Things were what they were.
When the group members saw Lin Feng appear and read what he had said, the group immediately erupted.
"No way. It really was fake?"
"This is such a disappointment! I was thinking that if it was real, I'd make another trip to Frost Crimson Peak."
"Ugh, how disappointing."
The group members were rather disappointed, all feeling that it was most likely fake.
"Look, don't be so impatient. At least wait until a week has passed before saying that. It's only nearly been a week."
Another group member spoke up. He felt that since the man had said a week, they should at least wait until then.
The time was not even up yet. Why were they in such a hurry?
Watching the group descend into a clamor, Lin Feng was just about to keep typing when he heard someone call him.
"Lin Feng, the boss wants you in his office."
"Oh, coming."
Lin Feng put down his phone without thinking much of it, assuming the boss wanted to see him about work again.
To be honest, if possible, he only wanted to be an invisible nobody at the company. He did not want the boss calling for him.
Usually, little good came of the boss asking to see him.
"Boss, you wanted to see me?"
Lin Feng knocked and went inside, then asked after closing the door.
"Ah, Lin Feng..."
The middle-aged man in front of him looked up and smiled as soon as he saw Lin Feng. "Here's the thing. Our business has now expanded into the neighboring city. You've been with the company a long time, and you're very familiar with our business."
"So I've decided to send you to the neighboring city to develop the market there. Don't worry. Once the business there gets going, I'll put that whole area in your hands."
Developing business in a new market?
At those words, Lin Feng immediately felt a little excited, but then his excitement cooled.
He was very familiar with his company's business. If they could establish themselves in that market, it would definitely be very profitable.
The problem was that competition was fierce in every industry right now. How could developing a market be so easy?
Then he recalled the fortune Su Mu had told him earlier, and a jolt ran through him.
"Boss, when it comes to developing business, I think Xiaoxiao is more capable. She helped develop the market in Fang City before. Compared with her, I feel my abilities fall a little short."
Lin Feng's mind raced, and then he gave his answer.
The middle-aged man paused slightly at that, then said in realization, "That's right. Xiaoxiao did work alongside Xiao Wang before. He guided her every step of the way. She really is better suited than you."
At this point, the middle-aged man thought for a moment. "Then let's do this. I'll put you in charge of the business in Pingliu District. I was originally going to send Xiaoxiao there, but I'll give it to you instead."
Pingliu District?
Hearing that, Lin Feng's breathing immediately quickened a little.
Pingliu District was neither the most developed district in Cloudwater City nor the city center, but it was a trade hub, definitely the company's most profitable district.
And the boss clearly meant to send him there as manager, giving him full responsibility for the work there.
"But isn't Manager Gao in charge of Pingliu District?"
Afraid he had misunderstood, Lin Feng asked another question.
"Him? He thinks he's familiar with the business now, knows plenty of people, and has connections of his own, so he's planning to go into business for himself."
As he said that, a clear trace of anger appeared on Lin Feng's boss's face.
Then he said earnestly to Lin Feng, "I'm leaving Pingliu District to you. Work hard. The company won't shortchange you."
Hearing this, Lin Feng hurriedly nodded. "Don't worry, boss. I'll definitely work hard and do a good job."
After saying that and seeing that the boss had nothing else for him, Lin Feng left the office, then saw Xiaoxiao being called inside.
As Lin Feng walked now, he felt as though he were floating.
He returned to his seat in a daze. When he saw his phone still vibrating nonstop and the group members still chatting, he hurriedly picked it up.
"Everyone, quiet down. Quiet down! I have something very important to announce!"
Lin Feng sent three messages in a row, asking everyone to stop messaging for a moment, then hurriedly typed.
"Just now, the boss called me in and said he wanted to send me out to another location. But I turned it down, and then I got an even better opportunity. I'm becoming a district manager! This is definitely a promotion!"
"The Taoist priest at Cloud-Stilling Temple was incredibly accurate!"
Lin Feng's breathing was a little rapid. At the thought that he would now be the manager over in Pingliu District, he grew even more excited.
Working there, when the year was up, even his year-end bonus would be considerably larger than everyone else's!
The group members, who had still been in an uproar, froze when they saw Lin Feng's messages.
At that moment, each of them stared at their phone, actually at a loss for what to say.
Seeing that no one was speaking, Lin Feng feared they did not believe him and continued typing: "Everything I said is true. People of Huaxia don't lie to people of Huaxia!"
