Beep, beep, beep!!
Her wristwatch sounded again.
Sang Yunpu: [I'm downstairs. Without identity verification, I can't come up.]
Ahhh!!!
Sang Luoluo looked at the things in the room that she kept in her space. Sang Yunpu was back, so she could no longer sleep in her space at night or enter it freely.
She hurriedly replied: [Oh, wait a moment, big brother. I'll come down and get you.]
After sending the message, Sang Luoluo hurriedly put away the lamp, portable power supply, and all the other tables and stools she had taken out of her space. She left the tent. There were other tents in her space, and this one had no special markings such as a production date, so she could use it here. She also left the toothbrushes, towels, and other daily necessities that had nothing unusual about them.
The room was completely empty, but Sang Luoluo paid it no mind and went straight out to get Sang Yunpu.
Taking the elevator downstairs, Sang Luoluo spotted Sang Yunpu sitting in his wheelchair by the road and hurried over to push him.
"Big brother, why didn't you discuss it with me before leaving the hospital?"
Sang Yunpu smiled. "If I'd discussed it with you, you definitely wouldn't have agreed. I know my own condition. Don't worry, my legs are much better already. They've been using the best medicine, and even the doctor said I could recuperate at home. There's no need to spend all those extra points. You worked hard to earn them."
Since that was the case, Sang Luoluo could hardly say anything. It was good to have Sang Yunpu back, but she thought she needed to find a way to move into a bigger home as soon as possible, one with several rooms. Having a room of her own would make entering and leaving her space easier.
She pushed Sang Yunpu upstairs, registered his information, and changed the occupancy to family sharing.
From then on, Sang Yunpu could come and go freely.
When they opened the door, they saw the tent sitting all alone in a corner.
Sang Luoluo scratched her head a little sheepishly. "Everything in our old tent was stolen. I had nothing when I came here, so I just bought a tent and some daily necessities."
Sang Yunpu felt rather upset at the sight too. Fortunately, he had come back. It was hard to imagine having nothing at home, and he still could not quite rest easy with his little sister living alone.
Sang Luoluo suggested, "Big brother, should we go to a nearby general store and buy some daily necessities? And pots, bowls, and things?"
Sang Yunpu nodded.
This home could not do without him.
They did not even have a pot.
"Come on, I'll push you there. I know where there's a general store," Sang Luoluo said with a smile.
Sang Yunpu was very pleased with this one-room apartment. It was much bigger than their old place in the shantytown, and it had a large floor-to-ceiling window, a kitchen, and a bathroom. It was very nice.
"There's no rush. Let me check the dimensions." After saying that, Sang Yunpu scanned the room with his wristwatch, obtaining its length, width, and height, along with measurements for every part of it.
Seeing Sang Luoluo staring blankly at him, Sang Yunpu explained, "When we go shopping, we need to consider the dimensions, whether things will fit in the room, and where best to put them."
Only then did Sang Luoluo nod in understanding.
Once that was done, Sang Luoluo swiftly pushed Sang Yunpu out the door and went straight to the bustling shopping street near the base. It was not far from where they lived, only a ten-minute walk or so.
Whatever they bought, Sang Luoluo could put straight into her space, making it easy to transport.
Thinking of all the things they lacked at home, Sang Luoluo said as they walked, "Big brother, there's not much space at home, so let's buy another tent for you. We also need a refrigerator, an air conditioner, a washing machine, pots and bowls, a range hood, a portable power supply, and a backup lamp. The power went out at home a couple of days ago. It was so hot."
Fortunately, the general store had all those things. Once inside, Sang Yunpu began choosing items, while Sang Luoluo immediately set her sights on the brand-new air conditioner and washing machine on display.
Sang Yunpu shook his head.
Pointing at the pile of parts beside them, he said, "We can just buy those. I can assemble them, and they'll cost half as much. These new ones are bulky too. We have limited space at home, so they won't fit. Those parts only cost 100 points altogether."
Sang Luoluo wanted to object, but seeing how pained Sang Yunpu looked over the expense, she swallowed her words.
All right. In the original owner's memories, Sang Yunpu had been very good at managing a household.
Sang Yunpu asked for several solar charging panels. These were not new either. Although they were secondhand, they would work fine with a few repairs, and they only cost 80 points altogether.
As for the lamp Sang Luoluo had mentioned, Sang Yunpu spent just 2 points on a light bulb and some wire.
He spent another 20 points on two short power strips.
Their room was not big to begin with. Sang Yunpu bought a secondhand air conditioner with new replacement parts inside that would last a long time, all for just 100 points.
Sang Luoluo watched in astonishment. A new air conditioner cost 400 points, so they had saved 300 just like that. Sang Yunpu really had done well. They had bought everything, and although it was secondhand, the quality was not bad.
As for the refrigerator, Sang Yunpu bought a new one. He wanted a small one, but Sang Luoluo stopped him. "Big brother, when I go out on missions, I'll need to leave you plenty of food. A small refrigerator won't hold it all. I think we should get a bigger one. This one's good."
Sang Luoluo pointed at one about as tall as she was.
Seeing Sang Yunpu hesitate, Sang Luoluo spoke up directly. "Shopkeeper, we'll take this one."
"No problem. 400 points."
Seeing that Sang Yunpu looked pained by the expense, Sang Luoluo quickly persuaded him in a low voice, "Big brother, we have points."
Oh well. She earned the points, so I'll go along with her.
Next, Sang Yunpu bought pots, bowls, and other kitchenware. Some were made from a wood composite, light yet sturdy enough not to break when dropped. The pot was a traditional electric cooker that could pan-fry, stir-fry, cook, and deep-fry. The total came to 280 points.
He also chose a modified secondhand range hood for just 60 points.
There was also a set of tables, chairs, and stools. Most of their cost came from labor and transporting them into the base from the wilderness. Unwilling to spend the points, Sang Yunpu told Sang Luoluo, "Let's not buy these yet. When you're out in the wilderness, bring back a few suitable pieces of wood if you see any. I'll make them myself."
Sang Luoluo said, "...Okay."
Next, Sang Yunpu selected a repair kit from the general store, along with a set of tools including commonly used welding equipment, an electric saw, a handsaw, and an electric drill, for a total of 540 points.
Everything together came to 1,482 points.
Sang Yunpu bargained with the shopkeeper, asking him to round it down to 1,450 points. They would not need delivery either, since they could take everything themselves.
The shopkeeper countered twice, but unwilling to lose such a large order, he reluctantly rounded it down and charged only 1,450 points.
Sang Yunpu glanced back at Sang Luoluo, who paid the points before he could.
Then she waved her hand and put the items into her space one by one.
"Big brother, should we go buy a tent next?"
Sang Yunpu shook his head. "No need. You can sleep in the tent. I can sleep on the floor."
"Big brother, we have points. You don't need to be so frugal. I can earn more."
Sang Yunpu said, "We really don't need one. I have a plan. Once you bring a tent back from the wilderness, I can build a wooden bunk bed. You can sleep on top, and I'll sleep below. We can hang curtains around it and save a good deal of space for other things."
Sang Luoluo thought that made quite a lot of sense.
"Then we should buy some clothes, blankets, and things, right?"
Sang Yunpu nodded. It was hot now, but it was time to prepare clothes for cold weather. Everything they had owned before had been stolen, so they had to buy it all anew.
They still had to spend points where necessary.
Chapter 39: Training: Let me see how fast you can run
Once that was done, Sang Luoluo took Sang Yunpu to other general stores. She also wanted to see what the clothes here were like. The ones in her space were very different in style, and the fabrics differed somewhat too. Since she was not short of points now, buying from the general stores here was the sensible choice.
They found a loungewear shop. The clothes were all very good quality, made entirely from natural materials gathered outside the base. Clothes with such nice styles and excellent quality were not cheap.
An ordinary top cost 30 points.
Sang Luoluo found the price acceptable, but Sang Yunpu thought it was expensive. Back in the shantytown, many of their clothes had been made by residents using plant fibers they gathered themselves. They were cheap too, ranging from 3 to 30 points. Even a thick winter quilt cost only 20 points.
Only upon visiting the general stores inside the base did he discover that clothes could be so expensive. The fabric was a little better, but only a little, and somewhat softer. Considering the price, however, Sang Yunpu still thought it was rather expensive.
Sang Luoluo suggested buying ten outfits each so they could change between them.
Then she ran off on her own to choose clothes.
She was neither tall nor fat now, so anything fit her. She soon chose ten outfits.
Although Sang Yunpu hated spending the points, his little sister had earned them. It was rare to see her this happy, so she could decide. They might as well buy them.
He chose ten outfits for himself too, along with winter quilts, blankets, and other things for them both.
Sang Yunpu asked the shopkeeper to round down the price, bringing the total to 2,700 points.
Sang Luoluo received a message from Dr. Wang saying that a group from the Guard would be setting out in three days. She should get ready and could go with them then.
The base's Guard had a dedicated training room, and she had permission to train there.
Sang Luoluo showed the message to Sang Yunpu. Judging the time, Sang Yunpu thought they ought to head back and make something to eat. If they found anything else missing at home later, he could come out and buy it.
Sang Luoluo pushed him back, and they arrived home.
Then Sang Luoluo put everything they had bought in place, one item at a time, following Sang Yunpu's instructions.
