Zhang Weichu had good reason to say this.

The creature was a demon to begin with. Knowing that people from the Underworld Bureau had come to investigate it, it would have been strange if it had not hidden!

It was just like a criminal in the mortal world learning that constables had come to hunt him down. Who would not go into hiding?

Hearing this, his colleague immediately realized the problem too.

Indeed, they had never managed to find this demon. Presumably, it had gone into hiding.

Otherwise, why had they never caught sight of it?

Now that Mr. Fang had arrived, they had best leave this place as soon as possible so that he could capture the demon without delay.

At this thought, he immediately nodded repeatedly. "Quite right. In that case, let us leave this place as soon as possible!"

With that, he dissolved into a wisp of chilling wind and vanished.

Seeing this, Zhang Weichu hurried after him.

A cup of tea's time after the two had completely departed, the deer confirmed that the two Underworld officials had indeed disappeared.

It glanced back toward where Fang Zelin was behind it, a trace of wariness flashing through its eyes, before swiftly slipping into the nearby bushes and vanishing.

"Where on earth did that thing run off to? Why can't we find it?"

In the mountain woods, a group of people had been searching all morning, yet even now, there was still no sign of the ferocious beast.

This situation immediately left many of them feeling a little anxious.

"Maybe it's hiding. With so many of us coming up here to look for it, it's perfectly normal for it to hide."

Someone nearby immediately spoke up. "This game is so realistic. Under normal circumstances, whatever the animal, if this many people came looking for it, it would have to hide."

His words drew repeated agreement from quite a few people.

Indeed, given how realistic this game was, even a ferocious beast would have to hide with so many people coming to look for it.

"Has anyone searched this area? The grass on the ground doesn't look like it's been trodden on."

"Probably not. Let's go in and have a look together."

At the mouth of a valley, a small team spoke as they headed inside.

But just as they moved forward, a deer blocked their path, braying at them incessantly.

"Huh? What's a deer doing here?"

The people who had been about to go inside and investigate were taken aback at the sight of the deer before them.

Though puzzled, they had not intended to pay it any attention. But just as they were about to go around it, someone's gaze suddenly fixed on it. Then, as though he had discovered something, delight instantly spread across his face.

"Guys, this is the ferocious beast we're looking for!"

"Are you kidding? The beast we're looking for has killed thirty people, at the very least. It should be a tiger or a bear or something. And you're telling us this deer is the beast with a bounty on it?"

Hearing this, the others immediately frowned.

None of them were fools. Naturally, they would not think this was the beast they were hunting for the bounty.

"It might seem a little unbelievable, but look at its antlers. There's still blood on them! It's definitely the beast we're looking for!"

No sooner had the others voiced their doubts than the person who had spoken first produced his evidence.

Hearing this, the others looked again. Seeing that there really were bloodstains on the antlers, they were immediately delighted.

It really was!

They had practically turned this whole mountain upside down.

After searching for so long, they had only found this one deer. Thinking it over carefully, it really could have been the culprit!

Besides, the game designers probably would not give them a fierce tiger to kill, would they?

At their current stage, in such a realistic environment, a fierce tiger was not something they could handle.

At this thought, everyone was immediately overjoyed.

"Charge, brothers! Once we kill this deer, we can collect the silver and go to the martial arts school!"

"Brothers, get it together!"

In an instant, shouts rang out all around. Spirits soaring, everyone immediately brandished their hoes and woodcutting axes and charged at the deer.

At the sight, a flash of anger appeared in the deer's eyes. It opened its mouth and blew straight at them.

In an instant, a demonic wind rose, scattering everyone before it and knocking them to the ground, unable to get up.

They howled in pain, their bodies aching terribly.

People nearby hurried over at the noise. Upon hearing that the deer before them was the target of the bounty, they immediately charged at it with loud cries.

But how could these people possibly be a match for the deer? In a single encounter, they were all on the ground too.

Seeing this, the first group on the ground were immediately beside themselves with glee.

Their faces were filled with pain, making their attempts to smile look rather awkward.

At the sight, the second group lying alongside them looked even more pained. "Unbelievable. These sneaky bastards!"

"If we're brothers, we take our beatings together!"

"Beast, you dare!"

Just as the two groups lay on the ground, their faces filled with pain.

A shout rang out. Senior Brother Pang had been the first to notice the situation here, and immediately drew his sword with a ringing clang.

The blade flashed coldly as it left its sheath. In an instant, the sword was already thrusting toward the deer's eyes.

Seeing this, everyone on the ground struggled to prop themselves up, staring wide-eyed at the scene, their eyes shining.

So this was a martial arts expert! He really was imposing!

Yet a mocking look flashed across the deer's face.

The next moment, Senior Brother Pang screamed and flew backward.

Uh.

Everyone on the ground watched in disbelief, their eyes filled with shock.

Was this thing that hard to deal with?

"Junior Brother Pang!"

Seeing Junior Brother Pang fall, the two senior brothers rushing over from afar arrived one after the other and were about to attack the deer ahead.

Just then, however, Junior Brother Pang abruptly spat out a mouthful of blood and called out to stop them.

"Don't! This thing has probably become a demon. We are absolutely no match for it!"

Senior Brother Pang's face was filled with shock and anger. Judging by what it had just done, it had clearly become a demon!

Otherwise, with over ten years of martial training, how could he have failed to subdue a deer?

It had become a demon?

Hearing this, both men's expressions changed in shock, followed by alarm and anger.

If this deer really had become a demon, it was certainly not something they could handle.

Everyone was terrified, at a loss for what to do.

Meanwhile, the deer ahead was staring at the people before it. In the past, it would probably have killed them all outright.

But then it recalled what that fellow from the Underworld Bureau had just said, along with what he had said while speaking with Fang Zelin.

Now, it could not help but hesitate somewhat.

If that fellow really was an immortal's disciple, and had come specifically for it.

If it went on a killing spree right before his eyes now, would that not truly be sealing its own doom here?
