The White Deer Gained Insight into the Dao
Deep within Wangqing Mountain.
A white deer lay slightly on its side, its whole body giving off a faint white light that made it look all the more wondrous and extraordinary.
At that moment, moonlight from the night sky spilled over the white deer, lending it an even more extraordinary air.
The white deer opened its eyes slightly and gazed at the bright moon in the night sky.
Spirits like it had no idea how to cultivate and had always muddled along in confusion.
They were nothing like those immortals, who all had methods they could cultivate.
Without understanding cultivation methods or knowing how to cultivate, very few could awaken spiritual intelligence and refine away their transverse throat bones.
One like it truly was a being among spirits that had received a heaven-sent fortuitous opportunity.
"That immortal master said, 'Dao emulates own inherent spontaneity'..."
"Dao emulates own inherent spontaneity."
The white deer pondered the teachings of the Dao it had previously heard from Fang Zelin.
An opportunity to hear even a little about the Dao from an immortal was exceedingly rare.
To hear this immortal speak of his understanding of the Dao was rarer still.
As the white deer recalled what Fang Zelin had said back then, his voice seemed to begin echoing through its mind.
And as it gradually immersed itself in the words Fang Zelin had spoken, the moonlight in the night sky suddenly began to shine brilliantly, as though great sheets of it were spilling directly over the white deer.
A sheet of moonlight covered the white deer like a white quilt.
In an instant, the white deer felt an unprecedented sense of comfort sweep through its entire body, and it could not help letting out soft calls.
Its mind, which had still been somewhat muddled, now seemed to grow ever clearer.
Only when the moon in the night sky gradually began to give way to the rising sun in the distance did the moonlight slowly disappear.
The white deer opened its eyes, which were now clearly filled with excitement.
"Truly worthy of being an immortal's successor. A single word of guidance to the water ghost let him obtain the position of a yin deity. A single word of guidance to me brought me immense benefits and let me step through the gates of cultivation..."
The white deer was extraordinarily excited, its heart brimming with joy.
When it thought of Fang Zelin, its reverence for him grew even greater.
"A single word of guidance from this immortal has already brought such great benefits. If I could receive a little more guidance from him...?"
At this thought, the white deer felt its heart stir intensely.
But once it stood up and looked around, it began to hesitate.
After receiving that word of guidance from Fang Zelin, it had carried a few stalks of spirit rice in its mouth and given them to him.
Whatever the case, that counted as expressing its gratitude, and Fang Zelin had accepted them. That should mean he did not particularly dislike it.
Otherwise, he would not have accepted them.
But if it wanted to seek that gentleman out again and receive his guidance, it could hardly go empty-handed.
Yet it currently had nothing to its name.
After turning the matter over in its mind, the white deer turned and ran deeper into Wangqing Mountain, planning to search the mountains again.
It would then use finding a few spiritual treasures as a reason to pay the gentleman a visit.
It could not rashly ask the gentleman for guidance outright, but if it brought him spiritual treasures every few days, then after enough gifts, it should be able to grow closer to him.
With enough time, it would naturally hear some teachings of the Dao.
It did not ask for much. Even hearing a sentence or two would be an immense fortuitous opportunity.
After a night of gaining a little insight into the Dao, its mind had opened greatly, and its thoughts now grew ever more astute.
"Hey! Hah!"
Inside Anzi County, on an enormous training ground.
This had once been a drilling ground for soldiers, but with military discipline falling apart, no soldiers trained here anymore.
Now, however, it had become a place where countless players gathered to practice martial arts.
Someone had posted a cultivation method on the forum earlier, and it had spread among the players in an instant.
Players who had already saved up a fair amount of silver and planned to visit martial arts schools bought medicinal decoctions with their silver instead, then began figuring out cultivation on their own.
Fang Zelin had written down every one of his insights in the post, and most people could grasp them after reading it.
Thus, looking across the training ground now, most of the people practicing did seem to have something of the knack.
While practicing swordsmanship, those who occasionally gained an insight immediately began laughing wildly.
"Hahaha, I finally felt Qi Force too! I felt Qi Force!"
"So this is what Qi Force is like! It feels so real!"
"The day I can roam the jianghu is finally within reach!"
The players were utterly wild with excitement.
After chopping wood and farming for so long, they had finally made it through. How could they not be happy?
In all honesty, they considered this the hardest game to get started in, bar none!
It was incredibly realistic, but it had taken realism too far!
Just look: the martial arts they were practicing did not have a single attribute panel. Instead, they could actually feel exactly how their cultivation was progressing.
But to them, this was also an enormous benefit.
After all, this sense of realism was what they wanted.
In the distance, the residents of Anzi County saw what was happening over here, then quickened their steps and hurried away.
These visitors from foreign lands truly struck them as very strange.
They had heard that the lands these foreign visitors came from had abundant food and clothing, along with wondrous things that could transmit voices over a thousand miles and the like.
Yet they insisted on coming to this world. They really were a bunch of oddballs.
Not only had they come here, but all they did every day was chop wood, farm, and haul stone and timber.
Thinking this, the residents shook their heads all the more.
The players did not notice the Anzi County residents nearby, but even if they had, they would not have paid them much attention.
After all, in their eyes, these people were all NPCs.
Right now, practicing their martial arts was what mattered most.
Everything else was unimportant.
Once they had made progress in martial arts, they would presumably be able to head to higher-level maps.
The players were delighted.
The martial arts schools were delighted as well.
With so many players buying from them, they had earned a tremendous amount of silver selling medicinal decoctions.
The Underworld Bureau of Anzi County.
Zhang Weichu was currently reporting on the situation at Wangqing Mountain. He had first learned what had happened afterward before making his report.
Hearing Zhang Weichu's account, Judge Wen's face revealed a trace of surprise and uncertainty.
If things were truly as Zhang Weichu said, was that Mr. Fang really an immortal's disciple?
"I understand. Close the cases one by one afterward."
Judge Wen thought it over. Since this matter involved an immortal's disciple, he did not dare pursue it any further.
Besides, that deer demon had escaped, and finding its tracks in the mountains would not be easy.
They would close the matter here.
