Benefactor
"Benefactor!"
Just as Fang Zelin was filled with curiosity, the female demon in front of him suddenly cried out in surprise and delight.
Then she gave Fang Zelin a graceful bow.
This sight left Fang Zelin somewhat bewildered.
"Wait a moment, why do you address me like that?"
Fang Zelin reached out to interrupt the other person, and seeing the other person looking at him with such surprise, Fang Zelin felt even more puzzled.
"Does our benefactor still remember how, a hundred years ago, you scattered rainwater, imbued with Spiritual Qi, across the fields?"
She doesn't remember much; the only things she remembers relatively clearly are vague memories.
This all happened because she drank this "Clear as Empty today, which had a striking resemblance to the Spiritual Qi she had sensed in the fields years ago.
She only remembered after she returned and tried hard to recall.
And that's one of the reasons she stayed.
If it weren't for that trace of Spiritual Qi back then, she would never have achieved her current level of cultivation.
Seeing that the Clear as Empty Fang Zelin took out contained such Spiritual Qi, she no longer cared about anything else.
After all, the reason she stayed here was to find the benefactor from back then.
"I did manage to bring rain, but that was many years ago. I then spent a long time cultivating in the mountains and haven't ventured into the human world for quite some time."
Hearing this, Fang Zelin realized what was going on. "So, you're the demon who accidentally gained Spiritual Qi and embarked on the path of cultivation when I was making rain back then?"
Listening to the other person's words, even though the other person hadn't explained everything clearly, Fang Zelin still managed to connect the dots.
"Yes, my benefactor. I was originally a snail in the field. I received a Spiritual Qi of your spiritual energy, which is why I have my current cultivation level."
"I live here only in the hope that if my benefactor comes to bring rain again someday, I can find him and repay the kindness of that drop of water from back then."
At this point, she bowed gracefully to Fang Zelin again.
Fang Zelin was taken aback upon seeing this. After looking the other person up and down, he couldn't help but feel a little emotional.
"You're quite fortunate. A single rain has given you such power, and you've even taken human form. You're nothing like those tiger and deer demons from the mountains."
At this point, Fang Zelin couldn't help but shake his head.
The other party has cultivated for about two hundred years and has achieved such a level of cultivation.
The tiger demon and the deer Demon Cultivator for much longer than she had.
The result is that it has not yet taken shape.
Indeed, cultivation is not solely determined by the amount of time spent cultivating.
Tiger demon, deer demon?
The snail fairy in front of her was stunned for a moment, after all, she had never seen the two fairies before.
Judging from what his benefactor said, he must have a close relationship with those two demons.
Therefore, she naturally dared not say anything about the two demons.
"As for repaying a debt of gratitude, you don't need to worry about it. The fact that you've been able to focus solely on cultivation after achieving success, without doing anything immoral or harmful, is my greatest fortune."
"Otherwise, if you commit any heinous acts, Fang will bear some responsibility for those crimes."
Fang Zelin didn't actually expect the other party to repay him in any way.
To be able to receive this good fortune is a blessing for the other party.
He just happened to be there.
Fang Zelin meant it this way, but the snail fairy in front of him was somewhat unwilling to accept it.
She had stayed here for so long, waiting for her benefactor, Fang Zelin.
Now, my benefactor's words are just a way to get rid of me; how can that be acceptable?
"My benefactor, my daughter's current level of cultivation is all thanks to you. How could I not repay your kindness? How could I possibly continue my cultivation then?"
"I hope my benefactor can give my daughter a chance to repay this debt of gratitude!"
At this point, she gave Fang Zelin a graceful bow again.
Fang Zelin felt a headache coming on when he saw this; he had no need for the other party to repay a debt of gratitude.
But hearing the other party say that, it seemed as if not giving the other party a chance to repay the kindness would make it impossible for the other party to make any progress in their future cultivation.
In that case, it would be his fault.
After thinking for a moment, Fang Zelin sighed, "Very well, I still need to travel in the mortal realm for a while. During this time, you will stay by my side and do things like serving tea and water."
"Once this matter is settled, you've repaid this kindness. What do you think?"
Fang Zelin thought for a moment and then shared his thoughts.
Having already traveled through the mortal realm, one more demon like this won't make a difference; I might as well bring her along.
It's better than the other person still staying in this village.
Upon hearing this, the Snail Maiden's eyes lit up with joy, and she nodded emphatically, "Thank you so much, benefactor!"
"Alright, stop calling me benefactor. Let's use a different title."
"How about addressing me as 'Young Master'?"
The Snail Girl thought for a moment and realized that if she were to stay by Fang Zelin's side all the time, she would be practically a maid.
Addressing him as "Young Master" should be appropriate.
Fang Zelin didn't press the matter and readily agreed.
"By the way, what's your name? Why do people call you Young Lady of the Li Household?"
After talking for so long, I still don't know the other person's name.
Upon hearing this, the Snail Fairy immediately recounted the story briefly.
Actually, the matter is quite simple. The field she originally owned belonged to an Old Man Li in the village.
The other party has no children and is in his old age.
When she took human form, she had nowhere to go, so she pretended to be a woman who had fled from another country and stayed in their home.
After caring for the other person until their death, they moved into the other person's house.
She herself knew that she was somewhat outstanding in appearance, so she didn't usually interact much with the villagers.
The villagers knew very little about her, and having called her Young Lady of the Li Household" for so long, they couldn't shake the habit.
As for herself, she simply chose the name Tianxi.
Fang Zelin nodded knowingly, then waved his hand, preparing to go back and rest for the night.
He can't walk easily now; if he tries to move, the other person will follow.
The villagers will soon spread the word that he abducted her, and they might even report him to the authorities.
At that point, things will get a bit complicated.
"Tomorrow, find yourself an excuse to leave this place, and then follow me on the way."
After saying that, Fang Zelin turned and left.
"Alright, from now on this fairy will leave with me, so you don't need to worry."
As Fang Zelin turned to leave, he said something to the elderly people in the ancestral hall beside him.
Seeing that Fang Zelin had persuaded them so easily, the elderly people breathed a sigh of relief.
It's so good that the fairy was able to leave, even if she didn't mean any harm.
But as this wise man said, humans and demons are on different paths.
How could a demon possibly stay in their village forever?
If it disrupts the village's feng shui, that would be even worse!
People like them also place great importance on the feng shui of their village.
