A cultivator of the Dao
The woman Fang Zelin had struck lost a patch of black mist from her body.
The half of her body that had lost its black mist exposed the skeleton underneath.
The formerly dignified, beautiful woman now had a face that was exquisite on one side and stark white bone on the other.
Against the pitch-black night, the sight nearly scared everyone present out of their wits.
"Monster, I could tell at a glance that you weren't human!"
Seeing that a single stone had actually knocked her back into her true form, Fang Zelin was a little stunned himself.
Had he known one stone could be so powerful, he would not have wasted so much breath earlier.
The skeleton demon before him was also aghast.
She did not understand how he had broken her perfectly sound demonic arts.
That last strike, in particular, had cost her quite a bit of Demon Power.
There was clearly something wrong with this man!
"Who are you?"
The skeleton demon looked at Fang Zelin, recalling how he had kept staring at her ever since he first saw her.
Clearly, her illusion had never worked at all.
Even the demonic arts they used to bewitch others had had no effect whatsoever on this man. He had even seen through them.
At that thought, all the skeleton demons felt they had an extremely thorny problem on their hands.
Their illusions did not work, nor did their bewitching demonic arts. Now that he had seen through them, things would be difficult.
Their cultivation was not actually that advanced. They only knew these few tricks.
If he fell for them, they could then slaughter him as they pleased.
But if he did not fall for them, they would not be able to take him down.
"I am merely a cultivator of the Dao."
Fang Zelin gave a light snort as he answered.
A cultivator of the Dao?
Hearing that, the skeleton demon could not help feeling wary.
They had encountered quite a few cultivators of the Dao before, and had even sucked some of them dry of their Yang Qi.
Yet the cultivator before them looked out of the ordinary no matter how they viewed him.
"Go!"
The skeleton demon was somewhat frightened. He had seen through everything on their side from beginning to end, yet they knew nothing about what methods that fellow possessed.
With that thought, how could they dare linger?
They immediately turned into streaks of black smoke and swiftly vanished.
Seeing the skeleton demons flee in panic, Fang Zelin was stunned too. They had just run away like that?
He had thought exposing them might lead to a great battle. Never had he expected them to simply flee.
Demons this timid had rather caught Fang Zelin off guard.
Still, after seeing them retreat, Fang Zelin thought it over and had no intention of giving chase.
After all, he was also uncertain whether he could take them down.
Since he felt he did not have the strength, he would not try to play the hero.
Everything had happened so quickly that only after all the skeleton demons vanished did everyone come to their senses.
Now, they all felt a wave of lingering fear.
Had Fang Zelin not noticed something wrong with them just now, and had they been allowed to slip into the group...
Their fate then would certainly have been far from good.
After all, those things were skeleton demons!
Even if they did not know much about such things, they had at least seen a few films and television shows.
"No wonder there were always posts on the forums saying people died while resting in the wilderness before even getting through the night. Looks like this was how they all died."
Someone nearby could not help murmuring at the sight.
They had not thought much of it before. Only after seeing what had happened today did they realize how those people who posted on the forums had died.
In the world of Seeking the Dao, there were ghosts out in the wilderness!
At that thought, countless people felt their hair stand on end.
"Yeah, we all thought they might have logged off after falling asleep and run into big bugs or venomous snakes or something. Only now do we find out there are actually ghosts in this world."
The female players nearby were trembling now.
After whispering among themselves for a while, they turned their attention to Fang Zelin.
"You're a player too, right?"
Wu Yong walked over to Fang Zelin and said gratefully, "If we hadn't met you today, our whole group would probably have been in danger."
As he said this, his eyes were full of gratitude as he looked at Fang Zelin.
Although they had learned a little martial arts, they knew they were absolutely no match for those skeleton demons.
"Yes, just like you."
Fang Zelin had no intention of hiding it. That mention of KFC just now had already given him away.
"Then do you have a hidden class? A cultivator of the Dao? I don't think I've heard anyone mention a class like that!"
"Do cultivators of the Dao specialize in dealing with these ghosts and monsters?"
Now the others perked up too and immediately fired off questions.
Fang Zelin had scared them off with just one move.
Besides, Fang Zelin had been particularly impressive just now, actually recognizing the skeleton demons' true forms at a glance.
On that point alone, he could be called extraordinarily capable.
"It's not some hidden class. I just happened to learn a few skills. I don't know much about this line of work either."
Seeing them question him so enthusiastically, Fang Zelin answered somewhat helplessly.
Even now, Fang Zelin did not know much about cultivating the Dao. For instance, how did one practice spells, and how were the cultivation realms divided?
Were there Spirit Stones in this world?
What mountain was it that he had visited twice before?
In short, there were many things Fang Zelin simply did not know.
He had stumbled into it in a haze, and had only learned how to cultivate.
The others beside him did not suspect anything when they heard this.
After all, Seeking the Dao was simply too realistic. It did not even have a status panel.
Even if you really obtained some hidden class, you would not know whether you had one.
"Whatever the case, thanks for tonight!"
Wu Yong cupped his hands to Fang Zelin in thanks. He had originally thought he would be looking after Fang Zelin today.
Fang Zelin had seemed like a native, so he had thought to look after him and see whether he could trigger a quest.
He had never expected the man before him to be a player, much less to end up being saved by him instead.
"It was just a small effort."
Seeing how earnest Wu Yong was, Fang Zelin waved a hand, indicating that there was no need to be so polite.
After what had just happened, however, Fang Zelin no longer dared cultivate so carelessly.
In the future, he must not cultivate so casually out in the wilderness.
Otherwise, if a female ghost suddenly appeared while Fang Zelin was cultivating, he would be done for.
Hearing Fang Zelin say that, Wu Yong smiled and went back to his seat, ready to discuss keeping watch with his companions.
From now on, they absolutely could not let anyone else approach.
After all, no one knew whether whoever came would be human or demon.
A human would be fine, but if it was a demon...
At that thought, everyone shuddered.
