Its body is covered with black scales that shimmer and look very hard and rough.
Its snout was slightly open, revealing sharp fangs. Most eerie of all, its eyes were white, without pupils!
"Hiss"
A small snake suddenly opened its mouth and shot towards Su Cheng.
"Pfft--"
A sharp bamboo arrow pierced its head, pinning it to a thin snake hanging from a tree.
The snake's sudden attack was like a battle cry!
Various snakes kept emerging from the ground and the grass.
Hundreds of snakes surrounded the three of them, writhing and twisting. Some snakes would suddenly leap up, others would stealthily approach to climb onto their legs, and still others would suddenly fall from the trees...
Bang bang bang!
The three men each took a gun and fired at the swarm of snakes.
Suddenly, the giant python swam rapidly, its long tail slamming into a large tree. The trunk snapped and crashed down on the three of them with a loud crash.
Su Cheng quickly jumped away from the falling range of the tree, shot down the attacking snake, and then fired seven or eight shots at the giant python, but all of them were dodged.
The giant python looked clumsy, but it moved extremely fast!
Mu Ling suddenly spoke up, "I sensed the Ghost Mark! It's 50 meters to your upper right!"
It was indeed Shen Ying was behind it all.
The python's arrival was suspicious and highly targeted; its lack of pupils and blank expression might be a sign that it was being controlled.
A note from the author:
My period suddenly came and disrupted my schedule. I was planning to post two updates today, but I'm still a little short of the second one, so I'll just post it together with tomorrow's. Let's finish this chapter and move on to the next one.
Chapter 89
The old saying goes, "To catch a thief, first catch his king." Su Cheng already knows Shen Ying's location, and she's not alone now. There's no reason not to deal with the person behind it all first!
Su Cheng turned to Lu Heng and shouted, "Hold the snake back!"
He then leaped down from the tree and headed towards Shen Ying's location.
Lu Heng didn't know what Su Cheng was going to do, but he believed she wouldn't do anything unnecessary at this time.
He raised his gun and Song Tangqiu into the python's eyes, using firepower to draw the python's full attention.
The python was not invulnerable; bullets fired repeatedly at the same spot would still pierce its flesh. Stimulated by the pain, it thrashed about restlessly, then, under the cover of trees, launched an even more ferocious attack, suddenly lunging out to swallow one of the people whole...
With Lu Heng and Song Tangqiu holding back the giant python, Su Cheng quickly approached Shen Ying's position.
But at the same time, Shen Ying sensed her approaching and kept moving around, and Su Cheng fired several shots but missed.
The two were locked in a stalemate, neither able to harm the other, and neither gaining the upper hand.
Shen Ying's marksmanship was exceptionally accurate; Su Cheng barely dodged several times before opening her Thousand-Machine Umbrella to block.
Bullets rained down on the umbrella, but not a single one could penetrate it.
Shen Ying's eyes flickered slightly, and she chuckled coldly in a low voice, "It's such a waste to give you something so good. I'd rather use it."
Su Cheng didn't waste words with her. She quickly approached, pressed the clasp, and shot a poisoned needle at Shen Ying.
Shen Ying hadn't expected there to be a firing port on the top of the umbrella. She dodged to the side, but the silver needle still pierced her arm.
She immediately swallowed the pills quickly, and when she looked at the Thousand-Machine Umbrella, her eyes gleamed with determination, and the gun in her hand fired even more fiercely.
A small red butterfly quietly fluttered out from the grass.
Su Cheng hadn't used the Thousand-Machine Umbrella to shoot before, waiting for a surprise attack, and the surprise attack was as effective as she had predicted.
It's just a bit of a shame that Shen Ying still has some extraordinary life-saving medicine.
Su Cheng focused all her attention on the Thousand-Machine Umbrella. Since its shooting function had already been exposed, she simply used the umbrella instead of a pistol.
Shen Ying couldn't dodge the Thousand-Machine Umbrella's automatic lock-on and could only try to deflect it with her weapon.
The bullets collided, and the bullets deflected the silver needles.
Su Cheng was gaining the upper hand, but she subconsciously felt something was wrong; Shen Ying seemed to be intentionally allowing her to get closer.
Even though they knew that firearms couldn't penetrate the Thousand-Machine Umbrella, they didn't change their tactics.
Su Cheng became even more vigilant, preparing to expose Mu Ling's presence and deliver the final fatal blow, when she caught a glimpse of triumph in Shen Ying's eyes, and a small blood-red butterfly suddenly appeared.
Mu Ling shouted in my ear, "Get away from it!!"
Su Cheng immediately stepped back, but the red butterfly fluttered its wings and reappeared beside her in the blink of an eye.
It's like a young butterfly just emerging from its cocoon, its wings fluttering as it scatters starlight; its bewitching red color is exceptionally dazzling and magnificent.
Su Cheng seemed to be drawn to the splash of red, freezing in place.
The red butterfly flew towards her brow, but was blocked by a layer of golden light just before it landed.
Its tiny feet landed on the golden screen, which then stained the entire area black...
Mu Ling stopped waiting, emerged from the bracelet, her black hair shredding the bullets that were flying through the air, and dragged Su Cheng away from the Red Butterfly once again.
The red butterfly exudes a strong aura of death, seemingly capable of devouring everything, causing Mu Ling to instinctively dare not approach it.
Once Su Cheng was away from Red Butterfly, the shackles were lifted, and she took out the boning knife that had been itching to be used from her Smart Bag.
A malevolent creature must be dealt with in the same way.
Once detached from the Smart Bag, the boning knife, like a runaway horse, charged towards the Red Butterfly, carrying the person with it.
Shen Ying hadn't expected Su Cheng to have so many trump cards. She was unconcerned when the black-haired female ghost appeared, but her expression changed drastically when she saw the boning knife.
The boning knife exuded a strong malevolent aura; if the knife were to touch the red butterfly, it might actually be devoured by the knife.
She quickly led the red butterfly back. This was a blood butterfly that she had carefully nurtured, investing too much of her life essence in it. She absolutely could not let it benefit someone else!
The boning knife slashed at Red Butterfly, but the blow missed its mark.
The red butterflies flitted in and out of existence, following their owner's guidance back to their "nest."
The boning knife, unwilling to let go of the food it had just caught, broke free from Su Cheng's control and chased after the red butterfly!
Shen Ying's pupils contracted slightly. She fired several shots but failed to deflect the boning knife's trajectory. Coincidentally, Su Cheng attacked her again.
In her haste, Shen Ying broke a shard of glass, and the cubic space isolated her from the outside world. The red butterfly, with half of its wing cut off, successfully landed back on her neck.
The boning knife slashed at the cube-shaped barrier again and again, working even harder than Su Cheng.
The square barrier was an extremely valuable item, but Shen Ying had no other choice.
She couldn't just stand by and watch the Red Butterfly be devoured by the boning knife, or have her trump card used to enhance someone else's weapon!
She would rather kill her creatures than feed them to others.
Their eyes met, Shen Ying's mask had already fallen off during the battle, revealing a face as distinctive as her eyes, sharp and piercing.
Shen Ying spoke first, "I have no intention of opposing you. There are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests. If you are willing, you can join the Toward the Moon Society. The Toward the Moon Society still lacking a second-in-command."
"Do you think I'd believe you?" Su Cheng hadn't forgotten the covetous look in Shen Ying's eyes when she saw the Thousand-Machine Umbrella and the Bonecrusher.
If she didn't have enough strength, she would have been dead long ago.
Shen Ying is not the type to back down. Given her style, she is only saying these things now because she sees that there is no benefit in being her enemy, or perhaps she is looking for another opportunity.
Seeing that Su Cheng remained unmoved, Shen Ying pursed her thin lips in displeasure. The protective barrier had a limited duration, so she glanced at the persistent boning knife and only relaxed slightly after hearing the system's mechanical voice in her mind.
"I really like your knife and umbrella." Shen Ying smiled enigmatically.
The next second, the protective barrier and she vanished from the spot.
The boning knife missed its target again, trembling as it struck the ground, seemingly in annoyance.
Shen Ying had a backup plan; she had calculated the time to leave the instance.
Su Cheng sighed slightly. The square barrier that Shen Ying had just used was not a prop from the supermarket; it was either a prize from a competition or something he had obtained in a dungeon.
The fact that it can withstand the powerful slashes of a boning knife shows how high its defensive system is; it's probably comparable to the Twin Fish Jade Pendant.
It's a good thing too.
Thinking back to that red butterfly, could Shen Ying have been using it to control the giant python?
Su Cheng pondered for a moment, then bent down to pick up the boning knife, but her hand missed.
The boning knife dodged her hand.
Su Cheng's eyes narrowed slightly. Ever since the boning knife absorbed the red roots of the locust tree spirit and advanced in level, it had changed from its honest and obedient state and developed a rebellious heart.
Su Cheng reached for the boning knife again, gripping its handle tightly, refusing to let go despite its trembling.
It only calmed down when the Red Resentment of the jade pendant, and was then forcibly placed into the Smart Bag.
Mu Ling slipped back into the bracelet and reminded him, "This knife is becoming increasingly disobedient."
Su Cheng remained noncommittal. Fortunately, the Twin Fish Jade Pendant was there to suppress the attack, preventing the boning knife from attacking its master each time.
The boning knife is undoubtedly very useful, but if she wants to fully control this ambitious knife, she needs to find a way to level up her profession quickly, or make the jade pendant and Mu Ling even stronger.
Su Cheng went back to find Lu Heng and the other person who had lured the giant python away.
Following the signs of a struggle, they had lured the giant python to the edge of the forest.
When Su Cheng arrived, she saw the two of them covered in blood, leaning on their knees and panting.
The python was lifeless, its skin covered in gunshot wounds of varying sizes, and a large hole in its abdomen from which flowed dirty, black, and foul-smelling blood, unlike the blood of someone who had just died.
There were many small snake corpses on the ground.
Lu Heng stopped Su Cheng from approaching, "It's too dirty, you'd better not come any closer."
Su Cheng didn't press the matter, "Okay."
" Shen Ying..." When Lu Heng heard the gunshots, he had already guessed why Su Cheng had left so suddenly, but he didn't know how Su Cheng knew Shen Ying's exact location.
"Leaving the instance."
"She probably planned all of this; she always leaves herself a way out." Lu Heng wasn't surprised.
"Without her sister's constraints, Shen Ying is far more unrestrained in the dungeon than in reality. In her eyes, everyone is an NPC she can kill and steal treasure from," Song Tangqiu added. "If you encounter her and can't beat her, you have to run away as fast as you can, provided, of course, that you don't have anything she's after, otherwise she'll definitely chase you relentlessly."
