Chapter 25
Since Xunfang could have something protecting her to escape the ghost attacks, what on earth did He Lie rely on to keep the powerful Red-Fog Female Ghost from striking for so long?
As Su Cheng pondered this, her feet already stopped in front of He Lie.
He lowered his brows, pressing his pale, thin lips together, his gaze dim and melancholy, without a shred of his previous furious appearance... he was practically like two different people.
Two people?
Su Cheng's heart skipped a beat; could they really be two people?
When she taught him a lesson last time, the opponent was easily subdued by her at first. But after flying into a rage, he was like a different person, gaining strength and even understanding some combat skills...
Su Cheng had once heard a report that for people with schizophrenia, every personality within their body was an independent individual.
The patient themselves had not learned a certain skill, yet mastered it after switching personalities...
Could He Lie be in this situation as well?
Thinking this, she also asked just like that: "You shouldn't be called He Lie, right? Do you have multiple personalities?"
The young man's eyes flickered slightly. "I am He Zhou."
As expected, it was two personalities.
Su Cheng: "Which of you killed the person?"
"..."
Compared to He Lie, He Zhou was more gloomy and quiet.
When faced with a distasteful topic, he would not be as irritable as He Lie, but would instead remain silent.
Su Cheng simply sat down in front of him. "I'm guessing it must be He Lie."
He Zhou's body trembled slightly, and he closed his eyes, as if suppressing something.
"Stop talking, or else he's going to come out."
Naturally, Su Cheng would not close her mouth to suit his wishes; if she wanted to know more information about the mission, she definitely had to pry it out of the parties involved.
Combining various social news stories she had read, she continued to make reasonable guesses:
"You both liked her, so a dispute arose. She chose you, and out of jealousy, He Lie killed her."
"Or, He Lie liked you, you fell in love with her, and out of jealousy, He Lie killed her."
"Or..."
"Shut up!"
He Zhou's expression twisted, and his eyes contained thick anger. Unfortunately, having lost the ability to act due to his injured legs, he could only use his gaze to attack.
"Oh, the personality has switched."
Su Cheng sneered. "The moment she is brought up, you get this emotional. Looks like you were the one who killed her."
Veins bulged on He Lie's forehead, and he roared in a hoarse voice: "It was me! So what if it was me!!"
When she had the ability, Su Cheng did not like others speaking to her so impolitely, so she slapped him across the face.
"Can you speak properly? If not, let He Zhou come out."
Blood seaked from the corners of He Lie's lips.
His eyes were gloomy, enduring silently, looking like he would not confess another thing.
Su Cheng looked him up and down thoroughly.
He wore a t-shirt and jeans, his upper garment had no pockets for holding things, and neither did his jean pockets have any bulging shapes indicating stored items...
Su Cheng reached out toward his neck, and sure enough, she hooked out a red string, tied with half of a Twin Fish Jade Pendant.
He Lie panicked. Since his legs were injured and he couldn't run away, he could only writhe and struggle to pull at Su Cheng's hand, yet was met with a backhand slap from Su Cheng that made him see stars.
Su Cheng forcefully yanked the jade pendant off.
When the jade pendant landed in her palm, it was neither warm nor cool.
The color of this jade pendant was Agate Red, perfectly matching the color of a carp.
Exquisitely carved, the fish with its upturned tail looked lifelike, and a precise dot of red at the jade fish's eye gave it a lively charm.
It looked like an old object from ancient times.
Su Cheng tried storing it into the storage slot holding the Soul-Suppressing Nails, and successfully saw its information.
[Twin Fish Jade Pendant (Incomplete): Coefficient Paranormal Weapon Class, Effect: Awe, Disperse Ghost Entities. Weight 0.01kg]
Just as Su Cheng had expected, it really did have the effect of warding off ghosts.
He Lie gritted his teeth. "This is my thing!"
Su Cheng remained unconcerned. "You treasure this half of the jade pendant so much? Do you know that it's precisely because of this half of the jade pendant that the ghosts don't harm you?"
"Is this your jade or hers, and where is the other half..."
He Lie glared at Su Cheng, but the annoyance in his eyes slowly dissipated, gradually transforming into entreaty.
He had switched back to He Zhou.
"That was the token of love between her and me. I hope you can give it back to me."
Su Cheng shook her head, feeling a little sick at He Zhou's tender, lovestruck act. "If you really loved her, how could you bear to let He Lie kill her and cruelly dismember her? Don't tell me He Lie did all the dismembering by himself and you didn't take part at all."
"What was her name? If you tell me the whole story, I can consider giving it back to you."
With the jade pendant held over him, He Zhou had no choice but to lower his voice and say, "Qu Yutong. Can you give it back to me now?"
Su Cheng coldly refused. "No. You still haven't explained the whole story."
He Zhou clutched his hair in anguish, his eyes rimmed with red. On the verge of breaking down, he said, "I'm already in so much pain. Why do you have to force me to remember..."
"Don't want to remember? Then wait for her to come find you herself."
Su Cheng looked at the tunnel coming into view and slowly said, under He Zhou's horrified gaze:
"You have to pay for the sins you've committed."
Su Cheng stood up and quickly took a seat beside the passengers.
"We're going into a tunnel again... Don't pick me..."
"I'm so scared..."
"I want to go home. Boo-hoo..."
"Will you all stop talking!"
Amid the passengers' fear, the train entered the tunnel.
Rumble, rumble, rumble-
"Zzzzt."
The lights went out. Red vines spread from the restroom and covered the entire carriage in an instant.
The Red-Fog Female Ghost, Qu Yutong, suddenly appeared.
She had arrived much faster this time, and with far greater fanfare than before.
She didn't seem intent on finishing things quickly.
Su Cheng glanced at the others, who were trembling all over.
They might not be able to see in the dark, but they could sense danger approaching, and they were shaking even harder.
They said that the guilty should answer for their own sins. Since He Zhou and He Lie no longer had anything to protect them, Su Cheng hoped Qu Yutong would be able to dispel her resentment after
taking her
revenge
and then disappear.
Her side quest would be complete.
With the other party no longer causing trouble, she could reach her stop without a hitch...
Su Cheng silently prayed that everything would go as she hoped, and that she could leave this instance smoothly.

Chapter 25
From where Su Cheng sat, she had a clear view of Qu Yutong slowly walking toward He Zhou. The red fog around her faded, revealing her deathly pale face.
She wore a red spaghetti-strap dress. Black cracks ran along her neck, arms, calves, and ankles, as if her shattered body had been hastily pieced back together and glued.
"Xiaozhou..."
Qu Yutong walked very slowly, as though her limbs weren't working properly. She moved forward in a twisted posture.
Blood still flowed from the cuts in her body. She was terrifying...
She was even more terrifying and real than any female ghost in the horror movies Su Cheng had seen.
He Zhou's pupils contracted. "Yutong... I-I'm sorry."
"Xiaozhou... It hurts... It hurts so much..."
"It hurts... It hurts so much..."
Qu Yutong finally reached He Zhou, step by step. She wrapped her arms around him and rubbed her cheek against his.
They looked like a sweet couple embracing intimately...
If not for He Zhou's panicked face and the blood dripping from the female ghost onto him.
"Yutong, I was wrong... I shouldn't have agreed to He Lie's plan..."
"I did nothing wrong! He Zhou and I both wanted you. The only fair thing was to split you in half!"
"Yutong, let me go. We did love each other, after all. I'll spend the rest of my life making amends..."
"Yutong, He Zhou and I were bringing you back to your hometown this time. We would have shared you peacefully and held your wedding. I love you..."
He Zhou and He Lie switched back and forth, one pleading, the other pathologically frantic.
Qu Yutong laughed eerily. "Hehehehe..."
The sharp laughter sent chills down the spine.
She stroked He Zhou's body, her sharp red fingernails slicing through his eyeball. As He Zhou screamed, her red lips curved high. "Then let's be together forever."
She dug out He Zhou's eyeball and swallowed it, chewing. "It's so bitter. He Zhou, weren't your eyeballs supposed to be delicious?"
"Chew, chew, chew... Your skin is so thick. It's a little hard to chew, but don't worry. I'll eat every last bit of you..."
"Rip-click-"
He Zhou's arm came out as easily as a radish being pulled from a hole, making a "click" as the bone came free...
"Ahhh!"
Qu Yutong opened her mouth, revealing sharp fangs, and ate the arm bite by bite. She licked the blood from her lips and murmured, "Xiaozhou's blood is so rank, but I like it..."
Su Cheng watched it all unfold and couldn't help shivering. She looked away.
He Zhou's screams and pleas for mercy grew weaker, until even his breathing stopped.
The sound of bones being chewed slowly faded.
Su Cheng glanced over. After just a few minutes, all she saw was Qu Yutong licking her lips with satisfaction, savoring the taste.
The floor was awash with blood and scattered bones. Even his head had been eaten...
Ugh...
The stench inside the carriage mingled with the smell of blood. Su Cheng clutched her stomach, feeling like she was about to throw up.
Suddenly, Su Cheng realized that more than thirty seconds had passed. Why was the train still traveling through the tunnel?
Had this rule been broken...?
Since Qu Yutong had already gotten her revenge, why hadn't she disappeared or left...?
Su Cheng's brow furrowed. A sudden sense of foreboding welled up inside her. Her whole body tensed, and an inexplicable, oppressive nervousness made her tremble.
As if sensing something, she abruptly looked up.
Qu Yutong's face was right there on the ceiling of the carriage.
When had she gotten up there!?
She clung to the ceiling like a crawling creature, her limbs bent like a spider's legs. Her long hair hung down, covering her face, but it couldn't hide her eyes, brimming with malice!
"You're next..."
!
Qu Yutong was talking about the time in the restroom when Su Cheng had wounded her with a dagger!
