He Had to Teach This Person a Harsh Lesson
Elsewhere, Bai Yushan slept straight through until noon.
When he woke, the sun outside was already high overhead. Warm light spilled through the window into his room, dispelling the morning chill. He stretched in bed, his muscles and bones giving a series of faint cracks. The slight soreness left by an entire night of intense fighting in the underground arena had completely vanished.
Electric Current Push was extraordinarily effective at enhancing his body's recovery. As long as an injury was not critically life-threatening, a single night's rest was enough to heal it completely. Grueling battles that exhausted other people's bodies and minds were nothing more than a simple stretch for him.
A distinct pang of hunger came from his stomach, his empty belly urging him to replenish his energy.
His Electric Current Push was currently only at sixty thousand volts, still short of the five-hundred-thousand-volt threshold for a qualitative transformation. He could not yet dispense with food entirely and still needed large quantities of high-calorie ingredients to sustain his body's expenditure and support the continuous operation of the Bioelectricity within him.
Bai Yushan got up casually, washed, and changed into Eastsea Academy's standard uniform. Even in the loose uniform, his figure looked tall and slender, without the slightest hint of bulk, his cool, youthful air carrying a faint streak of unruliness. Once ready, he pushed open the door and headed straight for the academy cafeteria.
Eastsea Academy's overall strength was not top-tier within the East Sea region, and its Soul Beast breeding base had been consistently outclassed in resources by peer academies for years. Its finances alone were exceptionally robust, and the quality of its cafeteria food ranked firmly among the best of the region's Soul Master Academies.
Federation policy stipulated that basic tuition and meals at intermediate Soul Master Academies were entirely free.
The free basic meals could only meet students' everyday needs for food, offering a negligible boost to Soul Power. Grade A meals, which were truly rich in pure Soul Power and suitable for nourishing Soul Masters during cultivation, required students to pay extra.
This expense was no small burden for ordinary new students, but it posed no difficulty whatsoever for Bai Yushan.
He was an exceptional genius specially recruited by the academy and had received the highest-tier benefits package for new students upon enrollment, including unlimited free Grade A meals in the cafeteria. This was the exclusive treatment the academy offered to retain a monstrous genius.
After reaching the cafeteria, Bai Yushan went straight to the Grade A meal counter and deftly collected several servings of high-level Soul Beast meat, spirit rice, and rich Soul Power soup before finding an empty seat by the window on his own.
Without any restraint or ceremony, he dug in with great mouthfuls. The pure energy contained in the high-level Soul Beast ingredients dissolved the moment it entered his mouth, flowing down his throat into his body, where his flesh rapidly absorbed it. It nourished his muscles and bones, replenished his blood and vitality, and stored ample energy for generating Bioelectricity within him.
His appetite far exceeded that of ordinary people. One or two Grade A meals could sustain a normal student's cultivation expenditure for an entire day, yet he finished enough food for four or five people in succession, piling plates in layers on the table. Only then did he stop in satisfaction and let out a light burp.
His depleted energy reserves were completely replenished, and his entire body felt relaxed and comfortable.
Just as he was about to get up and leave, two young voices conversing a short distance to his side reached his ears clearly.
A somewhat lively voice rang out with a teasing edge. "I thought you were the only rice bucket in all of Eastsea Academy. Who knew there really was someone else who could eat as much as you?"
Immediately afterward, a gentle voice hurried to intervene. "Xie Xie, can't you watch how you talk? You'll easily offend someone!"
The boy called Xie Xie replied carelessly, "I didn't say anything bad. I was just telling the truth."
Bai Yushan paused, a faint glimmer of interest flashing through his eyes. He slowly stood, his posture straight, and walked at an unhurried pace toward the two speakers.
The two figures beside the dining table were none other than Tang Wulin and Xie Xie. They had just finished lunch and were preparing to leave. Noticing the approaching figure, both turned to look.
Xie Xie looked up at Bai Yushan's tall, one-meter-seventy frame. With his cool, otherworldly bearing and upright figure far surpassing those of ordinary new students, Xie Xie instinctively assumed he was a senior at the academy. A measure of apprehension instantly arose in his heart, but Tang Wulin was standing beside him. He had always cared about saving face and was unwilling to show fear in front of his companion, so he could only force his expression to remain firm and steel himself to speak.
"What is it, senior? Do you need something?"
The corners of Bai Yushan's mouth lifted slightly in a seemingly gentle smile, though his eyes held a languid hint of amusement. "Just now, you called me a rice bucket, didn't you?"
To anyone else, that smile looked perfectly ordinary. Beside him, however, Tang Wulin's pupils abruptly contracted, his body instantly stiffened, and a fear that reached deep into his marrow surged from the bottom of his heart.
He and Bai Yushan came from the same hometown and had both attended Red Mountain Elementary Soul Master Academy in Aolai City. When he had first enrolled back then, he had witnessed Bai Yushan's way of doing things firsthand: domineering, unrestrained, and entirely as he pleased, without ever caring how others saw him. Anyone who provoked him would surely face retaliation on the spot. When he was younger, Tang Wulin had even inadvertently crossed Bai Yushan and suffered considerably for it.
However, Bai Yushan had been summoned alone by the academy's principal on his very first day. Throughout the following three years at the elementary academy, Tang Wulin had never seen him again. He had thought their paths would never cross again in this lifetime. Never in his wildest dreams had he expected to encounter this fiend once more after making his way to Eastsea Academy.
That familiar smile and familiar sense of oppression instantly dragged Tang Wulin's memories back to Red Mountain Academy three years earlier. Bone-chilling fear enveloped his entire body in an instant, leaving him rigid and afraid to move.
Xie Xie, by contrast, had not noticed the strange atmosphere around them at all, much less understood Tang Wulin's abnormal state. He merely assumed his offhand teasing had displeased the senior, so he quickly reined in his attitude and cupped his hands in an apology, putting on a show of sincerity.
"Sorry, sorry. It was just a thoughtless remark. You're a generous man, senior. Please forgive me."
Bai Yushan gave a low, derisive chuckle. Without another word, he struck with zero startup frames, moving so fast that only an afterimage remained.
A crisp slap suddenly rang through the cafeteria!
The slap knocked Xie Xie straight to the floor, his back slamming heavily against the hard ground. He grimaced in pain, his mind completely blank. Half his face instantly flushed red, a distinct handprint standing out as a burning sting spread wildly across his cheek.
He was utterly stunned and lay on the floor in a daze, unable to react for a long while.
Bai Yushan smoothly crouched down to look Xie Xie in the eye as he lay on the ground. The faint smile remained on his face, and his voice was calm and sincere as he echoed Xie Xie's apology.
"Sorry, sorry. I accidentally hit you. You're a generous man, so please forgive me too."
The instant those words fell, Xie Xie's daze vanished completely, and towering rage swept away all his reason.
In all his life, he had never suffered such humiliation. Being slapped to the floor in public, the pain in his cheek, and the varied looks directed at him from all around left him unable to save face. Furious emotion surged straight to his head.
His extreme anger made him completely forget that the person before him appeared to be a senior, as well as that faint trace of apprehension in his heart. Bracing one hand against the ground, he abruptly exerted force to rise. His dark green eyes filled with ferocity, and Soul Power began to roil restlessly around him.
Fluctuations of rank-eighteen Soul Power erupted in an instant. Faint gold and silver Soul Power halos began to appear over his body, and the phantom of his Martial Soul, the Light and Dark Twin Dragon Daggers, was about to take shape in his hands.
He was going to attack!
He had to teach the person before him a harsh lesson and wash away today's humiliation!
