These are two living gold bricks.
A glint of fanaticism flashed in Su Wei's eyes.
Now that we know who our opponent is, our tactics must change.
When dealing with halibut, you must never give it any chance to breathe.
This fish has extremely strong endurance. Once it gets into a crevice in a rock or lies in the mud, the vacuum suction effect created by its huge body is so strong that even a crane would have to break the line.
" Aruk, get out there and get to work. Stop panting."
Su Wei shouted, his voice urging him on.
"That's money. That's enough to fix this lousy ship's engine."
Upon hearing the word "money, "Aruk climbed out of the cockpit.
Although his face was still pale and his hands were still trembling, a greedy light had been rekindled in his eyes.
"What's going on? This thing won't budge. It's like it's hanging from a mountain range on the seabed."
Aruk tried turning the rocker arm, but it didn't budge.
"Pump it. Use your waist, not your hands."
Su Wei set an example.
He took a deep breath, assumed a horse stance, and used the strength of his thighs and back to forcefully pull the fishing rod upward.
The high-strength carbon fiber rod let out a mournful cry, forcibly pulling the heavy fish head up an inch.
"Squeak"
Taking advantage of the instant the fishing rod rebounded and the fish's head was pulled and turned, Su Wei's hand speed became a blur, quickly shaking the handle twice and reeling in half a meter of line.
Raise the lever, squeeze out the core strength.
Quickly lower the rod and frantically try to reel in the line.
This is the tedious, cruel, and physically demanding pump-fishing tactic used in heavy sea fishing.
Whoever collapses from exhaustion first loses.
"Follow my rhythm."
Su Wei roared, sweat already streaming down his temples.
Aruk gritted his teeth, mimicking Su Wei's actions.
Despite his poor equipment, low efficiency, and awkward posture, his desire for money unleashed brute force.
"One, two, go!"
Su Wei shouted work chants, his voice hoarse.
Two fishing rods bobbed up and down in the wind and waves.
The sea breeze cut into his face, taking away the warmth from his body, but inside Su Wei felt like a furnace.
Sweat streamed down my back, soaking my thermal underwear, and then became cold and sticky inside my coat—a very uncomfortable feeling.
This protracted battle was so long it was utterly despairing.
Time ticked by, second by second.
My deltoid muscles started to ache, and lactic acid was accumulating in the muscle fibers. Every time I lifted the bar, it felt like I was lifting a hundred-pound stone.
Su Wei's knuckles turned white, and the space between his thumb and forefinger was numb from the vibrations, but he maintained a mechanical rhythm throughout.
Because he's watching.
In my retina, those two golden dots were being forcibly pulled away from the seabed, bit by bit, against their will.
200 meters.
150 meters.
100 meters.
As the water pressure decreased, the two giant beasts realized their lives were coming to an end and began a second, frenzied counterattack.
Stella in Su Wei's hand screamed again, and the twenty-meter line that had just been pulled back was instantly pulled out.
"It ran away again. Fuck. Su Wei. It ran away again."
Aruk screamed in despair, his words filled with pleading.
"My arm is going to break. It's really going to break. Can you cut the stitches?"
"If you dare cut the wire, I'll throw you down."
Su Wei's eyes remained calm as he held the fishing rod firmly in place.
"Let it run. It won't go far; this is just a last gasp. If you don't want your thousands of dollars to go down the drain, hold on. Think about your bills. Think about the girl with the ass bigger than a truck that you want."
Su Wei felt the vibrations transmitted through the rod; every pause, every swing, was clearly reflected in his mind.
That big guy got tired.
The impact force is weakening, and the amplitude of head shaking is decreasing, which are signs of exhaustion.
"Receive."
Su Wei exerted his strength again, this time his movements were faster and more ruthless.
The reel makes a cheerful clicking sound as the spool fills quickly—the sound of money falling into a pocket.
On the sea, beneath the dark waves, a huge white reflection faintly appeared.
That was the light when the fish's belly turned inside out.
They've arrived.
Su Wei's eyes were sharp as he stared intently at the surging waves.
" Aruk, stop shaking. Get the hook. Get ready to hook."
"Su Wei gave the order."
"Mine goes first. Remember, you only have one chance. If you miss and it gets startled and dives, this line won't hold for a third attempt."
Aruk, panting heavily, grabbed the two-meter-long heavy-duty stainless steel T-hook from the deck.
He hastily wiped the sweat from his face with his sleeve and stumbled to the side of the ship.
"I can't see it. The waves are too big."
Aruk shouted.
"Right there. Make sure you see it."
Su Wei suddenly yanked the rod, using his last bit of strength to pull the enormous creature to the side of the boat.
"Whoosh!"
The seawater broke through.
A huge brown figure burst out of the water.
Even though they were mentally prepared, the two still gasped for breath when the monster actually surfaced.
This is a giant Pacific Ocean halibut.
(refer to)
One of its eyes stared indifferently at the sky, and its brown back was covered with spots, like a moving reef.
The white belly on that side rolled in the waves, each slap against the surface creating a tremendous splash.
It is over two meters long, and its broad body lies across the water, almost occupying half of the ship's view.
This isn't a fish, it's practically a piece of seabed.
"My God..."
Aruk's hand gripping the hook was trembling violently, and his mouth was agape enough to fit a fist.
"This thing... is three times bigger than my ex-girlfriend's ass."
"Stop talking nonsense. Hook the cheeks. Don't hook the belly; if you tear the meat, it'll be worthless."
Su Wei roared, trying his best to control the fishing rod to prevent the fish from rubbing against the side of the boat and breaking the leader.
"Do it now."
The halibut seemed to have regained its strength, and its huge tail slammed against the water, creating a splash of icy water.
Aruk was splashed with water, but it was this icy water that brought him back to his senses.
The man let out a low growl, raised the hook high with both hands, and plunged it fiercely into the thick gill bone behind the fish's head.
puff!
The sharp steel hook pierced the fish skin, gripped the bone tightly, and made a dull thud as it entered the flesh.
"You've won."
Aruk shouted and strained with both hands to lift the fish up.
