The Appearance of SCP-049
The arrival of the Pestilence is Eldritch Beings and eerie tale, a sign of the emergence of Abomination.
For the people of the Steam City, Abomination is a rather thorny Eldritch Beings tale.
His appearance caused a large-scale disaster similar to that of Tomie.
It causes the most deaths and is very difficult to detect in the early stages.
A mysterious Pestilence began to spread, starting with one person who fell ill without even realizing it.
It wasn't until dozens or even hundreds of people were infected that it finally came to the attention of the authorities.
Official organizations immediately launched an operation to implement a plan targeting the Eldritch Beings and grotesque tales of Abomination.
The Pestilence areas were sealed off, and all personnel were prohibited from entering or leaving to prevent the further spread of the Pestilence.
Residents in the locked-down areas must stay at home and are not allowed to go out.
The city guards patrolled the area, and anyone found going out was to be detained.
If someone in a household dies, a white cloth strip should be hung at the door of the house to await the arrival of the Plague Doctor to handle the body and conduct centralized incineration.
If properly controlled, the Pestilence will gradually disappear, and Abomination will not arise.
If it's not controlled, the entire area could fall once the Abomination appears, and how many people survive will depend entirely on luck.
The locked-down town was shrouded in an immense sense of oppression.
Black smoke drifted into the sky from the center of the town, emitting a burnt smell, while black ash drifted down.
A city guard patrolling in a steam-powered machine looked at a passing group of Plague Doctor and asked:
"What's the situation? How many people have died? Can... can it be brought under control?"
"There are already more than 500 people affected, and some bodies have been burned, but based on the current situation and past experience, we should be able to control the situation."
"Don't worry, just patrol diligently and don't let the Pestilence spread."
"There are still quite a few bodies waiting for us to process."
The city guard's face finally relaxed a bit, and he nodded. "Thank you for your hard work. I really hope the Pestilence will pass soon."
I waved goodbye and watched the team of Plague Doctor leave.
The city guards glanced at the black smoke in the sky, sighed helplessly, then closed the driver's side door and continued their patrol.
Not long after the patrol began, the city guards suddenly spotted a person dressed in a black leather jacket walking on the main street ahead.
"Damn it, in these critical times, how dare they run around like this! If they cause the Pestilence to spread, then... then... damn it! Whose house is this?!"
The patrolman was furious; if they failed to control the situation, he wouldn't be the only one to die.
Living in this small town, his parents, wife, and children could all die.
The enraged city guards, piloting steam-powered robots, moved rapidly in that direction.
They are preparing to detain the other party.
The machine moved, and the steam engine and gears made a loud noise.
But the people in front seemed not to hear them and continued walking straight ahead.
Hey! Stop right there! Don't you know we can't go out now?!
As they approached, the city guard pilot driving the machine roared angrily, ordering the other party to stop.
The people in front finally reacted when they heard the voices.
As he slowly turned around, the city guards were stunned.
The person was wearing a bird-beak mask resembling that of Plague Doctor, and had a medical kit hanging from their waist.
Isn't this Plague Doctor?
The clothing seems a little different?
However, the city guards didn't care about any of that; the angry expressions on their faces vanished instantly.
He immediately shut down the machine and jumped out of the driver's seat.
With a slightly embarrassed expression, he looked at the Plague Doctor in front of him and said apologetically:
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was you, doctor."
"I wonder why the doctor is here alone? Which street are you going to? Would you like me to give you a ride?"
The city guards asked with concern, after all, whether this Pestilence could be controlled depended on them.
However, the Plague Doctor in front of him tilted his head and then uttered a string of words he couldn't understand.
"&&¥#**."
"What, doctor, what are you saying?"
The city guards suddenly felt that this Plague Doctor in front of them was a little strange.
"Alright, I can speak your language too, sir. May I ask what brings you here?"
The city guards listened to the incomprehensible first part of the sentence, but still replied:
"Doctor, I see you're all alone. Do you need any help?"
The Plague Doctor in front of him gave a polite laugh:
"Thank you. I'm looking for the ' Pestilence ' to eradicate. Do you know what it is?"
"Pestilence eradication? Doctor, you mean incineration? It's over there."
The city guards pointed to the spot ahead where black smoke was billowing.
"Incineration? No, I only want to cure, to save patients from the ' Pestilence,' it is my lifelong duty as a doctor."
Thank you for giving me directions, goodbye.
After the Plague Doctor finished speaking, he walked towards the place where black smoke was rising.
The city guards were left somewhat bewildered; this Plague Doctor was just too strange.
However, seeing that the other person was walking in that direction, he didn't want to follow, so he continued his patrol duties.
The Plague Doctor team that went to retrieve the bodies earlier has already retrieved them from the residents' homes where white sheets were hung.
Dozens of corpses were being transported by machine towards the central burning site.
When they arrived at the burning site, they saw a Plague Doctor squatting beside a pile of corpses that had not yet been burned.
He was holding some kind of tool and manipulating the corpse.
"Hey, what are you doing? Which squad are you from? These corpses have Pestilence, don't touch them!"
The Plague Doctor the plague stood up upon hearing the voices.
"' Pestilence '? No, this isn't Pestilence at all, but as a doctor, it's my duty to cure them, or to research better ways to cure the ' Pestilence ' from their experiences."
As he finished speaking, the corpse he had just manipulated came into view.
He actually managed to stand up, albeit unsteadily!
The faces of all the Plague Doctor, hidden behind their bird-beak masks, revealed a hint of fear.
Those were clearly humans who had been killed by the Pestilence, how could they have been resurrected!
And the Plague Doctor in front of us, both in his attire and in what he had just said...
And this resurrected corpse...
This... this isn't their Plague Doctor!
"You... you're not our team's Plague Doctor! Who are you?!"
The Plague Doctor in front of them then turned around and looked at them.
"I am just like you, a fellow practitioner, a great doctor, and..."
Before he could finish speaking, the Plague Doctor suddenly stopped.
His eyes were fixed intently on several members of the Plague Doctor.
"' Pestilence,' you've all been infected! We can't let the ' Pestilence ' spread from you!"
As he spoke, the Plague Doctor rushed towards them.
This group of Plague Doctor were completely baffled; what Pestilence? They were clearly not infected.
But they had already realized that there was definitely something wrong with the Plague Doctor in front of them.
They were preparing to flee; the situation here was beyond their control.
But he was faster; he rushed over and grabbed several Plague Doctor with his hands.
The Plague Doctor collapsed to the ground and died immediately after being touched.
The other Plague Doctor were so frightened that they stumbled and fell to the ground, looking at him in terror.
However, he spoke with a hint of dejection:
"Such methods are far too little of a help in eradicating the ' Pestilence '."
"And you... have also been infected."
