The Base Falls

All the researchers were dumbfounded. How could footage like this be on the recorder?

Still, they continued watching, hoping to see if there were any other discoveries.

Just then, a pair of hands with sharp, pointed nails suddenly appeared at the mouth of the Withered Well.

It seemed that something was climbing out of the well.

They were all transfixed by the footage and couldn't help holding their breath.

At the same time, they didn't notice that the air around them had grown a few degrees colder.

Just as they thought the next frame would surely show something climbing out-

The screen suddenly flickered. When it stabilized a moment later,

a woman dressed in white, with disheveled hair covering her face, suddenly appeared in the middle of the forest on the screen!

All the researchers were badly startled.

From the hands that had disappeared beside the well, they could be sure this was the person inside it.

Holding their breath, they all stared at the woman in white on the screen.

The woman in white moved forward, one step at a time.

Every few steps, she would suddenly disappear, then reappear farther ahead.

The image kept zooming in on the woman in white as she moved.

Soon, the woman in white was all that remained on the screen.

A strange, shrill cackle rang out, echoing through the room.

All the researchers swallowed hard without thinking.

A chill ran down their spines. In a daze, they felt as though the woman in white on the screen were standing right in front of them, laughing.

They seemed to realize that the atmosphere had grown far too tense and oppressive.

And that feeling just now must have been caused by it.

Someone seemed to want to break the heavy silence.

He deliberately walked up in front of the big screen and jokingly stood there, comparing himself to the woman in white on the screen.

He wanted to show that she was nothing more than a figure in the footage.

But when the researcher turned his back to the screen and looked at the others with a grin,

none of the other researchers watching smiled along at his grin and antics.

Instead, they all widened their eyes and gaped, their faces filled with alarm.

It was as if they had seen something so shocking that they couldn't speak.

The researcher who had been fooling around still had no idea what was wrong with them.

Had he scared them?

But just then, he suddenly felt a chill down his back.

It was like plunging into a river in the dead of winter, a bone-deep cold.

And something suddenly rested on his shoulder.

But there was clearly nothing behind him except the screen!

The researcher seemed to realize something.

He hurriedly turned around.

That was a mistake. The moment he looked, the researcher was so terrified that he felt his soul leave his body.

A woman dressed in white, with disheveled hair covering her face, was floating with her upper body suspended in midair.

She rested a pale hand on his shoulder.

Her lower body was still inside the screen behind him!

This woman in white was the one they had just seen on the screen!

She had crawled out of the footage from the recorder!

This was far beyond anything they could comprehend.

It was simply too bizarre.

How could a person crawl out of a recording!

Could she not be human?

Then what was she!

At that moment, their fear surged into their hearts like floodwaters bursting through a dam!

Sadako's Electronic Curse began to take effect.

She would begin hunting down everyone who had seen the recording.

The researcher Sadako's clone had touched as she emerged from the screen

was now completely terrified out of his wits.

Sadako's psychic power took control of him.

He let out an excited shriek, then plunged his fingers into his own eyes.

He collapsed and died.

Sadako also finished crawling out of the screen.

She stood motionless for a second, then immediately vanished.

The whole thing had taken less than half a minute.

The surviving researchers hadn't yet recovered from their terror

when they saw Sadako disappear.

Just as they thought she had vanished for good,

one of the researchers suddenly felt a chill down his back.

He immediately turned around and saw the last thing he would ever see.

Then Sadako killed him.

The other researchers also spotted Sadako at once.

She hadn't vanished. She had appeared out of nowhere somewhere else!

All the researchers began scrambling to escape.

One of them even triggered the alarm, calling for the combat personnel.

But not a single combatant came.

Instead, after they fled the research lab, they found blood and bodies scattered throughout the corridors.

Among the dead were combat personnel, as well as the body of the girl the reconnaissance team had brought back from outside.

But most importantly, they saw more than one body of that girl!

There was a head over there, and another one over there!

After Tomie had been locked away by herself,

the members of the reconnaissance team who had been forcibly driven out finally couldn't resist their longing for her and their desire to possess her.

They forced their way into the room and killed the officer.

Then they began fighting over Tomie.

In the end, Tomie was also killed.

But from that moment on, the nightmare began.

More Tomies appeared, and all the combat personnel who arrived were bewitched.

That was what the researchers had just seen when they came out.

One researcher fled to another corridor and saw a combatant who was still alive, but had gone mad.

The man held a weapon and charged forward frantically, as though chasing someone. He shouted:

"She's mine! You all deserve to die! Let's die together!"

Following the combatant, the researcher saw him catch up to a girl.

The girl was unmistakably the one they had brought back from outside!

The combatant brutally tackled her to the ground and punched her in the head again and again.

The girl seemed unable to feel pain. Instead, she gave him a radiant smile.

Soon, the girl was beaten to death and brutally dismembered.

Then the combatant shot himself.

The researcher's mind was completely blank, except for fear.

What on earth was happening at this base!

What were these things, these creatures!

The woman in white who had appeared from the screen, and all those identical girls!

But he no longer had time to think.

He hurried to the emergency elevator and rushed inside.

It was utterly quiet inside. Only a smart electronic screen was lit, seemingly sealing it off from everything else.

The researcher breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he had escaped.

But just then, the electronic screen in the elevator suddenly filled with static and emitted a burst of noise.

The researcher saw it and his heart stopped.

The next second, an image of Deadwood Forest appeared on the screen.

Far away in the forest stood a Withered Well.

The next second, a pair of hands appeared at the mouth of the well.
