Kicking a Car Door Flying
"Principal, what is it? Why the rush?" After arriving at school, Qin Chen went straight to the principal's office.
The principal was not alone in the office; the school director was there too.
"Come, come, come!" Seeing Qin Chen, the principal smiled and gestured for him to sit down.
"Have you heard of the Genius Training Camp?"
Only after Qin Chen sat down did the principal ask the question.
Qin Chen nodded. As he recalled, the Genius Training Camp was a special camp for gifted students in their final year of high school.
It was established before every college entrance exam, and the best student from each high school in the city was selected to attend.
Judging by the timing in previous years, it was about time for it now.
"The person our school has chosen this time is you." The principal looked at Qin Chen, his eyes full of anticipation.
Rongcheng had more than 150 high schools in all. Once each year's Genius Training Camp began, the schools would compare their results.
In the past, students from Rongcheng No. 1 High School had not necessarily placed last, but they had never made the top ten.
But with Qin Chen this year, the principal felt a top-ten finish was a nail hammered into the board. Qin Chen could even compete for the top three, or perhaps first place, and bring glory to Rongcheng No. 1 High School.
"So, are you interested?" the principal asked.
The director beside him also looked at Qin Chen, a complicated look in his eyes. In previous years, students had always fought fiercely for a place in the Genius Training Camp. Now, though, it was as if the principal were begging Qin Chen to go. The difference was simply too great.
"When does it start?"
"At noon!"
"So soon?" Qin Chen frowned.
He was quite interested in the Genius Training Camp, but he needed to consider how to break through to One-Star Martial Artist within three days. If he entered the camp, he would not have as much freedom.
Seeing Qin Chen hesitate, the principal grew anxious and hurriedly said, "Qin Chen, once you enter the Genius Training Camp, the city will give you a genius award of 100,000."
"Besides that, you'll receive instruction from the instructors. And that's not all-as long as you have the ability, you can even enter the elemental cultivation room!"
"Elemental cultivation room? The camp has an elemental cultivation room?" Qin Chen froze, then looked excited.
Wasn't an elemental cultivation room exactly what he needed most right now?
"Of course!" The principal smiled.
Qin Chen was at peak body tempering, so the principal had known that as soon as he mentioned the elemental cultivation room, Qin Chen would agree without hesitation.
Without waiting for Qin Chen to ask, he continued, "And this elemental cultivation room was newly developed. Cultivating inside it is fifteen times as effective as cultivating outside."
"Fifteen times?" Qin Chen was startled.
He remembered that the fastest elemental cultivation rooms humanity had built so far offered only thirteen times the speed. They were in the Capital, and there were very few of them.
At fifteen times the speed, calculated at two percent a night, that would be thirty percent in one night.
By that calculation, he only needed to stay in the cultivation room for two consecutive days to break through to One-Star Martial Artist in his fire-element cultivation.
"So, are you interested in joining?" the principal asked again.
"Of course!" Qin Chen nodded. With an elemental cultivation room available, he naturally had no reason to refuse.
"Haha... good!" The principal laughed heartily. "Qin Chen, I'll make you another promise. If you can take first place in the Genius Training Camp this time, I'll raise your award to 150,000!"
The maximum award stipulated by No. 1 High School was 100,000, but if Qin Chen really could take first place, the principal had decided to break that rule. Even if he couldn't, he would take 50,000 out of his own pocket.
"Then thank you, Principal!" Qin Chen said with a smile.
When it came to money, the more the better. He would turn none of it away.
The principal nodded and checked the time. "You can set off now!"
"Now?" Qin Chen looked bewildered.
"Yes, now. Today was already the scheduled day to go to the camp, and noon is the latest you can leave. I imagine the students chosen by the other schools have already set off!" the principal explained.
"Where is it?" Qin Chen asked, puzzled.
The principal shook his head. "I don't know exactly where it is either. You'll have to find it yourselves and make your own way there. You must arrive at the camp before dark. If you're late, it will be treated as a voluntary withdrawal!"
"You really know how to play!" Qin Chen turned and left.
The principal and the director both smiled as they watched Qin Chen leave in a hurry.
This was actually another test. Strength alone was not enough; brains were needed too. Anyone who could not find the camp's location in a whole day was likewise unqualified to become a member.
"Do you think Qin Chen can take first place?" the director suddenly asked.
Judging by previous years, Qin Chen taking first place was almost a nail hammered into the board.
But they had looked into this year's participants, and two other geniuses had appeared out of nowhere, one at No. 7 High School and the other at No. 9 High School.
Those two were Qin Chen's greatest rivals. It was said they had also reached body training peak.
"I don't know. A little pressure is a good thing. If there were no pressure, I wouldn't have recommended him," the principal said, shaking his head.
For Qin Chen to have reached such a height without making a sound, he surely had his own cultivation method. If the Genius Training Camp were still full of the same sort of people as in previous years, the principal would not have bothered recommending him.
By then, Qin Chen had walked out of the school. Instead of leaving immediately, he took out his phone and opened the map.
"There are three places in Rongcheng with elemental cultivation rooms!" He looked at the three locations on the map.
One was the Martial Arts Association, another was the city sports center, and the third was the Mingshan Training Ground.
All three were possible, because the Genius Training Camp had been held at each of them in previous years. There was no fixed location.
"Three places, each in a different direction." Qin Chen frowned at the map.
The three directions were very far apart. If he visited them one by one, a single day would not be nearly enough.
He zoomed in on the map and found the address of every high school in the city. Suddenly, he smiled.
The city's high schools were scattered across different areas. Some were close to the Martial Arts Association, and some were close to the city sports center, but not a single school was close to the Mingshan Training Ground.
Even from the nearest school, it took more than three hours to reach the Mingshan Training Camp, while from the farthest, it took nearly six.
If the aim was to be as fair as possible, Ming Mountain was the best choice.
"Most likely, it's the Mingshan Training Ground." Qin Chen looked straight at the Mingshan Training Ground on the map. He was the farthest from it, and he estimated it would take him five or six hours to get there.
Even so, he did not decide to go straight to the Mingshan Training Ground. Instead, he headed toward the Martial Arts Association.
The Martial Arts Association was only half an hour away, so going there first would not delay him for long.
"Young man, need a ride?" A taxi suddenly stopped beside Qin Chen, and the driver leaned out to ask.
Qin Chen opened the front passenger door. "The Martial Arts Association!"
"Sure thing!" The driver hit the gas and sped off.
"Young man, are you going to the Martial Arts Association for certification? Getting certified at such a young age-that's impressive!"
After Qin Chen got in, the driver glanced at him as he drove and asked with a smile.
"Something like that!" Qin Chen nodded.
"So you really are going for certification. Young man, do you have a girlfriend? I have a daughter..."
The driver kept talking, while Qin Chen responded now and then.
But soon, Qin Chen narrowed his eyes. "Driver, this isn't the way to the Martial Arts Association, is it?"
He looked ahead. Without him noticing, the driver had already changed direction twice, and they were getting farther and farther from the Martial Arts Association.
"Young man, I've been driving a taxi for three years. I'm not mistaken. This way leads to the Martial Arts..."
Bang!
Without another word, Qin Chen kicked the car door flying and leaped out.
The driver's expression changed, but he did not stop. He kept driving.
He glanced in the rearview mirror and was surprised to see Qin Chen standing steadily behind him.
"He kicked a car door flying with one kick. He's at least at middle body training. This year's geniuses really are better than last year's!"
As he spoke, he took out his phone and dialed a number. "No. 37 has slipped out of our control. His cultivation is at mid body tempering... at least!"
