The End of High School
"Principal, I'd like to attend one more class," Qin Chen suddenly said.
"Class? Just go. You haven't graduated yet, so you can attend whenever you like," the principal said with a wave of his hand.
Qin Chen shook his head. "I'd like to attend one of my homeroom teacher's classes!"
He remembered that his homeroom teacher wasn't scheduled to teach at this time today.
The principal looked at him in puzzlement. He knew that Class Seven's homeroom teacher had a somewhat strange temper and that her students called her the Female King of Hell behind her back.
Qin Chen smiled without explaining.
His homeroom teacher had never had a good impression of him, and she had a strange temper, but Qin Chen didn't think there was anything wrong with her. On the contrary, she was very responsible.
Strange as her temper was, she treated everyone equally and never deliberately picked on anyone for having poor grades. That was hard to come by.
In fact, Qin Chen was quite grateful to his homeroom teacher. When something had happened to his father and his family had fallen on extremely hard times, she had rallied everyone to donate and had never pressed him for his tuition fees. Otherwise, he would have dropped out long ago.
Even after that, he still hadn't studied hard and often slept in class. His homeroom teacher had frequently asked him to talk, but she had never used harsh words, instead patiently trying to persuade him.
Besides, this was probably the last time he would come to school. Whether or not he could take part in the General Star selection, the college entrance exam would be just around the corner by the time the training camp ended.
He had left for the Genius Training Camp in too much of a hurry. Now he wanted to finish one last class and see things through from beginning to end.
"Go ahead. I'll give your homeroom teacher a call!" The principal took out his phone.
Qin Chen's homeroom teacher was a middle-aged woman named Wang Su. She wasn't pretty and was even a little overweight. She usually wore a stern expression, and all her students were a little afraid when they saw her.
But now, as she walked out of the office, a hint of excitement showed on her face.
She walked briskly toward Class Seven's classroom just as the bell rang for the end of class. The next period was PE, and many students were getting ready to head to the sports field.
At that moment, Wang Su walked straight into the classroom. "Everyone, quiet down!"
At the sight of Wang Su, every student's expression changed. Even the class monitor grew anxious and was the first to speak. "Teacher Wang, the PE teacher isn't sick again, is he?"
The school had used that excuse to death. The PE teacher was forever in the worst health of all the teachers.
"You guessed right. I'll be teaching the next class, so everyone get ready!"
"Damn!"
At once, every student's heart sank.
Wang Su looked at their expressions and smiled, but didn't explain right away.
"Teacher Wang Su smiled!" someone exclaimed, having noticed her.
"What's going on today? I just realized Teacher Wang isn't acting like herself. Before, she would've told us to be quiet by now."
Wang Su listened to their discussion. Once they had nearly finished, he finally spoke in a serious tone.
"I'm not taking over your PE class for myself. It's because someone is coming to take this class with you!"
The students were stunned. Some suddenly thought of a possibility, though they weren't quite sure.
Wang Hai in particular had an eager look in his eyes.
Wang Su didn't explain. Instead, she turned to look outside the classroom.
Everyone was curious too. Who could make their homeroom teacher take the matter so seriously and look so excited?
Soon, a young man appeared before them. The moment they saw him, someone leaped out of his seat.
"Qin Chen! Qin Chen's back!"
"It really is Qin Chen! Wow, my idol is back!"
"A Two-Star Martial Artist! He just got certified as a Two-Star Martial Artist! A Two-Star Martial Artist who isn't even eighteen, from our Class Seven, my classmate!"
"An autograph! I have to get an autograph!"
The classroom erupted. Qin Chen had left without a word, and only later had they learned that he had gone to the Genius Training Camp.
As his classmates, they had been extremely proud. Then, not long ago, the city had announced that Qin Chen had been certified as a Two-Star Martial Artist, making them even more excited. Even though it wasn't them, as members of Class Seven, they all felt a share of the glory at school.
"He's back! My brother's back!" The chubby Wang Hai was just as excited as he watched Qin Chen walk toward the classroom, step by step.
While Qin Chen had been away these past few days, Wang Hai had wanted to call him many times, but he had been afraid of disturbing him, so he hadn't contacted him at all.
After entering the classroom, Qin Chen first looked at Wang Su at the lectern. "Hello, Teacher Wang."
"Good, good. It's good to have you back!" Wang Su smiled as she never had before.
Qin Chen then looked at everyone. "Classmates, I'm the one who wanted to attend Teacher Wang's class, so I've taken up your PE period. You don't blame me, do you?"
"Of course not!" The class monitor was the first to speak again.
"That's right! Why would we blame you? We love Teacher Wang's classes most of all!"
"Getting to attend class with a martial artist, haha! It's the first time, and probably the last time in my life. It's an honor! When I tell people, they'll be green with envy!"
The students all chimed in. No one was thinking about PE anymore.
In truth, everyone understood that this was probably their last class with Qin Chen. They simply left it unspoken.
"Class begins!"
The moment the bell rang, Wang Su called out loudly.
In an instant, she became that stern, unsmiling homeroom teacher again.
Qin Chen listened from his seat, occasionally looking around at his classmates.
This was his last class, and likewise, it was probably the last time he would see many of the people here.
After the college entrance exam, they would all go their separate ways. The world wasn't large, but whether they would meet again depended on fate.
For forty-five minutes, everyone listened more attentively than ever before, not because of Wang Su, but because of Qin Chen.
Time passed quickly. When the bell rang again, Wang Su finally dismissed the class, reluctant to do so.
But none of the students below immediately got up. They remained sitting quietly in their seats, reluctance in their eyes.
Wang Su took out her phone and snapped a photo of everyone. She glanced at Qin Chen, then walked out of the classroom.
"Qin Chen, give me an autograph!"
The class monitor took out a pretty piece of note paper and was the first to approach Qin Chen.
"I want an autograph too!"
"Me too..."
The students flocked toward Qin Chen.
"Everyone gets one!"
Qin Chen spoke with a smile. He swore this was the most he had ever written in one sitting in his life, and he was writing his own name over and over, but it was also the happiest he had ever been while writing.
"Goodbye, everyone!"
After signing the autographs, Qin Chen walked to the classroom door, said those words, then turned and walked out.
At that moment, everyone followed him out of the classroom as one, watching Qin Chen leave until he disappeared from sight.
