Song Yunshen was in a rather bad mood.
Having never been a girl, he had always felt the purest, most primal curiosity and fondness for the opposite sex.
As a boy, it was perfectly normal to be curious about and appreciative of certain parts that only girls had.
A girl like Xia Kening, who was especially prominent in certain areas, could draw the eyes of most people just by walking down the street.
But when he actually became Xia Kening herself, he discovered that things weren't as wonderful as he had imagined.
For one thing, strangers looked at him far too often.
He hadn't paid much attention when he was a boy, but from Xia Kening's perspective, whenever he walked down the street and made a point of observing, eight or nine out of ten boys who passed him would glance his way.
Some with less self-control couldn't help staring.
That was fine, though. Everyone loved beauty, and once he got a little used to the looks from others, they really weren't such a big deal.
But after lunch, he returned to the classroom, and it was time for the midday break.
Then Song Yunshen discovered that taking a nap in the classroom was exhausting!
When he rested his arms on the desk and lay down, his chest felt as though two big bags of milk were hanging from his shoulders, weighing him down.
That completely drove away his drowsiness.
He hadn't expected being so well-developed to come with this kind of trouble.
Song Yunshen rubbed his shoulders helplessly, thinking that Xia Kening didn't have it easy either.
He had initially thought it was pretty awesome that he couldn't see his shoes when he looked down, but now it seemed it wasn't all good.
If he had to go around with two sandbags hanging from his chest for the rest of his life, he definitely wouldn't want that.
Hopefully, the soul swap was only temporary. If they had to stay swapped for life, he really wasn't sure he could stand it.
"Ningning, aren't you going to sleep?" His deskmate Kong Xi noticed he was still awake and couldn't help asking softly, "I even got your books ready for you."
"Huh?"
"Isn't your chest tired?" Kong Xi handed a stack of her books to Song Yunshen. "Didn't you put them on your lap every day before?"
"Oh... oh, right..." As soon as Kong Xi said that, Song Yunshen realized what she meant. He hurriedly took another stack of books from his own drawer and piled them on his thighs. "The exams have made my brain a little fuzzy."
"Yeah, today's math paper really was pretty hard." Kong Xi didn't think much of it. She nodded in agreement, then put her head down for a nap.
Song Yunshen adjusted the height and tried leaning forward. Finding that it really did help, he lay back down on the desk.
This time, with knowledge supporting his chest, the burden was lifted in an instant. He was finally comfortable.
Sure enough, at a critical moment, you still had to rely on the power of knowledge.
Now he could have a proper nap.
That evening, having finished the afternoon science exam without a hitch, Song Yunshen went to the cafeteria with his three young roommates.
After getting their food and finding a table, Song Yunshen joined the girls' conversation, chatting as he ate.
Just as Xiao Mengdie and Yang Wan were discussing where to go during summer vacation, a somewhat familiar figure suddenly sat down in the empty seat beside Song Yunshen.
He turned to look, and his face immediately darkened.
It was Xu Lingcheng.
"Can you stay away from me?" Song Yunshen said irritably.
"Xia Kening, I'm serious about you." Xu Lingcheng's face reddened slightly as he lowered his head and spoke in a quiet voice. "I can apologize to Kong Xi for what happened before. I hope you can forgive me."
"Kong Xi was the one you made cry, not me. Why would I need to forgive you?" Song Yunshen stared at him speechlessly.
Seeing this, Kong Xi also replied softly, "You already apologized when we were in the teacher's office last time. It's okay."
"No, I wasn't sincere when I apologized then." Xu Lingcheng looked serious. "So I'm formally apologizing to you again now. I mean it this time."
"Uh..." Kong Xi was also at a loss for words, so she looked toward Xia Kening beside her. "Ningning..."
"All right, all right." Song Yunshen waved impatiently. "Kong Xi has already forgiven you. Please find another seat."
"Isn't this seat empty?" Xu Lingcheng said shamelessly.
"Then I'll find another seat, okay?" Song Yunshen made to get up.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Xu Lingcheng hurriedly said. "I really do like you. Can't you give me a chance?"
"School doesn't allow dating at our age, thanks."
"It's not like nobody in our class is dating... We just have to make sure we don't get caught." Xu Lingcheng looked sincere. "I don't think a little obstacle like that can affect the feelings between us."
When the fuck did we ever develop feelings for each other?
Are you a masochist?!
Getting punched once means we have feelings for each other?
Song Yunshen was so shocked that he couldn't make sense of it no matter how hard he thought. He could only refuse with a stern face. "I don't like you. Can you stop bothering me?"
"You must still have the wrong idea about me," Xu Lingcheng said earnestly. "It's okay. I'll make you accept me, little by little."
Song Yunshen: "..."
This guy was beyond help.
Staring speechlessly at Xu Lingcheng beside him, Song Yunshen really wanted to punch him and knock some sense into him.
But he was afraid that if he did, the guy would get a taste for it again.
If another punch got him off and deepened those feelings, things really would be hard to wrap up.
"How about you tell me what exactly you like about me first?" Song Yunshen took a deep breath and asked, "Be clear, so I can figure out how to change it."
"I like it when you hit-" Xu Lingcheng said instinctively, then hurriedly corrected himself. "Uh, no... I mean, I like how straightforward and brave you are when you stand up for your friends. That's the kind of girl I like."
Didn't that still fucking mean he liked getting beaten up?
Song Yunshen really had to hand it to him.
He had thought that, since Xia Kening had beaten someone up in class, there might be bad blood between them and she might even be deliberately targeted.
But he had never expected the plot to unfold like this!
Every time Xu Lingcheng said he liked him, he felt sick all over again. He felt like he was going to lose his appetite.
He couldn't take it anymore!
When the hell were they going to swap back from this goddamn soul swap?!
Just as Song Yunshen was starting to find the torment unbearable, Xia Kening had just managed to win a meal from Xu Zhuoyue.
She had correctly guessed what meat dish the cafeteria would serve that evening.
After happily eating her free dinner, Xia Kening suddenly thought that it was Song Yunshen's body that had eaten it. When they swapped back later, could she ask Song Yunshen for the money for the meal?
A meal cost seven or eight yuan, which was no small amount. Besides, she had won it with her own brains.
For now, though, she only thought about it. After all, she still didn't know when they would be able to switch bodies back.
After enjoying her dinner, Xia Kening politely declined Xu Zhuoyue's invitation to play basketball and sneaked over to the second-year teaching building to look around.
Unfortunately, she couldn't find her eldest sister in Class 4 of the second year.
So Xia Kening returned to the classroom of Class 5 of the first year and dutifully attended evening self-study. After playing gomoku with Xu Zhuoyue on scratch paper all evening, she finally made it to the end of school.
When they reached the school gate, Xu Zhuoyue headed toward the bicycle shed. Seeing Xia Kening walk straight toward the gate, he couldn't help asking in confusion, "Aren't you riding your bike?"
"Huh?" Xia Kening froze for a moment, then hurriedly said, "I walked here this morning."
"That's strange." Xu Zhuoyue looked him up and down. "You have a bike. Why walk instead of riding it?"
"My bike broke yesterday, so I took it in for repairs this morning." Xia Kening's mind raced as she made up an excuse on the spot.
"Really?" Xu Zhuoyue looked skeptical. Then a thought suddenly struck him, and he couldn't help asking, "You're not actually dating Xia Jinshu, are you?"
"Huh?" Hearing the familiar name, Xia Kening was stunned. She wondered how her eldest sister was involved in this.
"Didn't you say you got a love letter from Xia Jinshu before?" Xu Zhuoyue teased, half joking. "Now that you've made it official, are you planning to walk home together tonight?"
"How is that possible?!" After hearing that, Xia Kening's eyes went wide, her face full of disbelief, as though a bolt from the blue had struck her on the forehead.
Xia Jinshu... a love letter...
My sister... this... how is that possible...
Wasn't Song Yunshen pursuing my second sister?!
How did he get involved with my eldest sister too?!
