Chapter 20
The manager froze for a moment with the walkie-talkie in his hand, then told the person on the other end to send up some different drinks, all lower in alcohol and suitable for Lin Yu.
Lin Yu didn't ask him to change them. She only wanted a drink, and when Jiang Zao came, she would order something else. The manager set out the drinks and some snacks, and when he saw that Lin Yu had already started playing whack-a-mole, he quietly withdrew and closed the private room door.
Lin Yu picked up some dried fruit and nuts, then lifted a glass of fruit wine and drank.
She propped her face on her hand and watched the projection, whacking the moles one after another.
After leaving, the manager returned to the counter, picked up his phone and sent Chen Lüli a message: President Chen, Sister Yu is here at the shop. She ordered drinks.
Chen Lüli was still meeting a client over dinner. His eyes narrowed slightly when he saw the message, and a second later, he replied: Okay, keep an eye on her.
Then he put down his phone, looked up and resumed talking with the client.
Before long, the contracts were brought over and held out by the two parties' assistants. The legal and finance teams were also present. They picked up their pens and signed their names, sealing the deal.
Lin Yu drank the wine like water. The room was quiet except for the squeaks of the moles being whacked back into their holes. Leaning against the sofa, her cheeks flushed, she watched the screen and sent Jiang Zao a screenshot, but Jiang Zao didn't reply. Lin Yu pressed the remote again, listening to the moles retreat into their holes.
Footsteps sounded on the stairs.
The manager walked beside Chen Lüli and said, "One of the guys went in just now. Sister Yu has had quite a bit to drink, more than she usually does."
Chen Lüli pulled off his tie and pushed open the door. At a glance, he saw Lin Yu sprawled over the table, still whacking moles. Hearing the noise, Lin Yu raised her head. "Jiang Zao?"
Through her blurred vision, Lin Yu could just make out the person's face. She looked at him hesitantly.
Chen Lüli picked up the glass in front of her and glanced at it. "Are you that upset?"
Lin Yu propped up her face and looked at him without answering.
Chen Lüli motioned for the manager to leave. The manager retreated to the doorway and closed the door. Chen Lüli walked over and sat beside her, grabbed a bottle from nearby and poured a drink into her glass. After taking a sip, he glanced sideways at her. "Is someone like that worth it?"
Lin Yu kept her face propped on her hand and didn't answer.
Her head was spinning, and she saw double when she looked at him. Yet she could clearly see his unbuttoned collar and his blade-sharp Adam's apple, as well as the tie he had tossed onto the sofa.
Chen Lüli's voice turned cutting. "Auntie Zhong really has a good eye. Out of the countless men in Li City, she picked that one. They'd been together less than a month and he'd already learned to cheat. He can't keep his lower half under control. Does he even count as a man?"
Lin Yu's delicate brows drew together slightly. She was still wearing the apricot-colored dress from earlier that day, without a coat. The neckline was a little loose, and her hair hung over her shoulders, some strands slipping down. Drunk, her eyes glistened with moisture. Hearing this, she frowned, the moisture still shimmering and swaying in her eyes.
She said instinctively, "Don't talk about him like that."
Chen Lüli narrowed his eyes. "Even after all this, you still want to defend him? Say he's easy to get along with, that you feel comfortable around him, is that it?"
Lin Yu straightened and pushed him with both hands. "I didn't ask you to come here and make fun of me."
She couldn't budge him.
But when Chen Lüli saw her hands touch his shoulders, he suddenly grabbed both her wrists and pulled her toward him. Lin Yu fell forward into his arms, knocking against his chin. She struggled to get up and tilted her head to look at him. "You never used to concern yourself with these things."
"What things?"
He held the back of her neck, making her look up at him.
The moisture in Lin Yu's eyes grew heavier with the alcohol, nearly spilling over. She said softly, "Relationships. Shouldn't good friends keep some boundaries, some distance between them?"
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her neckline slip down a little, exposing her shoulder. He shifted his gaze back to her eyes. "Yes, good friends should. Before that, I didn't concern myself with it."
"Then why are you asking so many questions?" Lin Yu asked.
Chen Lüli stared at her lips. "Who knows?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he lowered his head and bit her red lips, an actual bite. Caught off guard, Lin Yu struggled instinctively. He sucked on her lips for a few seconds, then began nibbling, biting inch by inch at her fragrant, wine-flavored lips. With his lips pressed to hers, he murmured indistinctly, "Open your mouth."
Dazed, Lin Yu felt heat rising through her body. She kept struggling, but couldn't get free an inch. She didn't open her mouth, yet under his torment, her lips parted slightly. The moment they did, it was like a river bursting through a dam. The tip of his tongue slipped inside and hooked directly against her lips. She struggled harder, and his arm went around her waist, pulling her against him.
Her hands, braced on his shoulders, fiercely clutched his shirt, as if she meant to tear away that gentleman's skin.
Chen Lüli tightened his arms, holding her firmly as he lowered his head and kissed her just as firmly. Her hair spilled down like a waterfall, and he pulled her struggling hands behind his neck.
The man pressed her against the sofa and kissed her.
A few seconds later.
"Hiss-"
She bit his lip hard enough to draw blood. Chen Lüli pushed himself up, one hand still holding her neck. Lin Yu's lips were bright red, and her eyes were hazy with moisture. Through that haze, she looked dazedly at the man braced over her. The rush of alcohol and dizziness left her feeling as though she were riding clouds and mist, hot and caught in a dream.
Seeing her like this, Chen Lüli heard only the pounding of his heart. He had never been an impulsive person, not in the slightest, but for some reason, every word she had spoken in Li Yin's defense had set his anger ablaze. And now, her long hair lay spread across the sofa, her face was flushed with drunkenness and confusion, and her lips were red from his sucking. The hands he had forcibly pulled around his neck were pushing at him lightly, and her neckline had slipped much farther down her shoulder.
Chen Lüli licked the blood from the corner of his lip, sighed and buried his face in her neck. "Li Yin isn't good. Look at me."
Here it is.
A chapter that breaks the restraints.
Another 100 red envelopes for this chapter. See you tomorrow at five in the afternoon.
Chapter 20
Lin Yu's mind was hazy and her eyelids were heavy. With heat washing over her, she grew drowsy.
As the alcohol swept through her, a thought flashed through her mind: what had he said?
Chen Lüli breathed in her scent and straightened. Seeing how sleepy she looked, he ran his fingertips through her hair. The scent of fruit wine lingered between them.
Just then, footsteps sounded on the stairs, accompanied by Jiang Zao talking to the manager. In her loud voice, Jiang Zao told him to bring more drinks. Tonight she was going to drink with Yuyu until they were both drunk.
Bang- the door flew open.
Chen Lüli glanced at the woman asleep in his arms and scooped her up.
Jiang Zao stopped in her tracks and took a closer look. "I haven't even gotten here yet, and she's already drunk?"
Chen Lüli strode forward. "Get her bag for her."
Jiang Zao stared blankly. "Oh."
Carrying Lin Yu, Chen Lüli brushed past her. "Her coat too."
"Sure thing." Jiang Zao came back to her senses and walked in. A glance at the table showed that a bottle and a half of wine had been emptied. That was indeed more than Lin Yu could handle. No wonder she had gotten drunk so quickly; she'd been drinking it like water. Lin Yu's coat and small bag lay in the corner of the sofa, toward the projection. A table blocked the way, leaving that spot somewhat dim. Jiang Zao bent to pick them up, while in the air, the lavender perfume Lin Yu usually wore mingled and intertwined with the cedar scent on Chen Lüli. They smelled surprisingly good together.
Jiang Zao gathered up Lin Yu's coat and bag and went downstairs. She saw Chen Lüli standing at the entrance with Lin Yu in his arms, waiting. A cold wind sprang up outside, and he turned slightly to the side.
That's surprisingly considerate, Jiang Zao thought.
She walked over and asked, "Whose car are we taking?"
Chen Lüli glanced at her diamond-studded Maserati. "Mine," he said in a low voice.
Jiang Zao's eyes lit up. His car was both expensive and cool, and she had long wanted to try it, but she had never found the chance. Lin Yu had even ridden in it a few times, while she hadn't been in it once. She said, "The car keys."
The manager hurried over and handed her the black car key.
Jiang Zao went to get the car.
Chen Lüli got in with Lin Yu in his arms and pulled her coat over her. She was fast asleep and instinctively turned her face toward his chest.
Her hair lay tangled against her cheek. He brushed it aside with his fingertips, the pads of his fingers grazing her skin.
Jiang Zao got into the car and adjusted the seat, feeling a little excited. This black Brute really was cool; even the silver-and-black air vents looked good.
She started the car and happened to see Chen Lüli brush the hair away from Lin Yu's face in the rearview mirror. His eyes were lowered as he gazed at the woman in his arms.
For some reason, Jiang Zao felt that something was a little strange.
In the past, Chen Lüli would certainly have put Lin Yu in the back seat and returned to the front passenger seat, or buckled her into a seat. But tonight he was sitting in the back, with Yuyu in his arms. Jiang Zao was lost in thought for a few seconds. Just then, Chen Lüli raised his eyes, and she vaguely caught sight of his sharp gaze in the rearview mirror.
She quickly turned back and watched the road ahead.
She concentrated on driving.
Chen Lüli leaned against the seat and closed his eyes to rest.
But the cut on his lip felt a little numb. He opened his eyes and rubbed the corner of his mouth in the darkness.
Jiang Zao stole another glance in the rearview mirror. Why is he rubbing his mouth?
Still, Chen Lüli's car performed so well that Jiang Zao had to concentrate on driving. If she wasn't careful, she pressed too hard on the accelerator. The problem was that Li City had so many traffic lights that she had to brake sharply every time.
The first time she braked sharply, Chen Lüli held Lin Yu tight. The tip of Lin Yu's nose bumped against his chest, and she frowned. Chen Lüli glanced at her, then raised his eyes. "Can you drive?" he asked coldly.
Feeling guilty, Jiang Zao coughed and said, "Yes. It's just that your accelerator is too easy to press."
Chen Lüli narrowed his eyes and gathered Lin Yu closer. "Slow down."
"Sure thing."
Jiang Zao touched her nose. Fortunately, they arrived at Lin Yu's residential complex without incident. She parked in Lin Yu's space, then ran to the back seat and held the car door open, wanting to help. But Chen Lüli didn't need her. He lowered his eyes and adjusted the coat around Lin Yu, tightened his arms around her and ducked his head, then stepped out of the car with one long stride.
Jiang Zao stood there blankly, dazed for a few seconds. Why had that scene just now seemed a little sweet to her?
But Chen Lüli and Yuyu?
Was that possible?
After closing the car door, Jiang Zao followed the tall figure ahead. In the quiet underground garage, the man's figure was tall and slender, a woman cradled in his arms as he walked with steady steps. The scene looked just like something out of a drama.
