Happy and Cheerful All Day Long
When Lu Linyuan saw how frantically Ruanruan was gulping down her food, he pulled the bottle back a little. "No one's going to steal it from you. If you choke, you'll be the only one suffering." He didn't care whether a cat could actually understand him.
In fact, this was a skill cat owners acquired automatically: they talked to their cats about everything and nothing, as though their little kitties understood every word.
Even a big CEO was no exception.
That was the magic of the cat cult.
His words made the little kitty want to roll her eyes. You think I don't want to drink at my own pace? It's because you're always teasing me. If I don't drink faster, you'll hold it over this kitty again.
Even so, Ruanruan slowed down a little after he said that, no longer as frantic as before. As the old saying went, a healthy body was the capital of the revolution.
After feeding Ruanruan, Lu Linyuan asked, "Do you want to come downstairs with me?"
Ever since discovering she was a cat, Ruanruan had thrown off all restraint. She loved to play. What good had working so hard in her previous life done her? She had died young without enjoying a single blessing. Now she was a cat and didn't have to work hard herself, so shouldn't she hurry up and make up for it? When she heard he was going downstairs, she thought he was going to play, and her eyes lit up. She was just about to meow to say yes, yes, yes, but then she reconsidered. Going downstairs at this hour meant breakfast, didn't it?
Ruanruan immediately tucked her head down and struggled, ready to slip away.
Who wants to go downstairs with you? I'm not going down there to be tortured!
Seeing her struggle, he didn't force her. He handed her to a servant and strolled away.
Ruanruan played by herself in the cat room. A servant turned on the television for her to watch cartoons. Yes, the cat room even had an ultra-thin LCD television mounted in the wall. It could be controlled remotely, and it also had a handheld remote.
After giving Ruanruan a quick clean, the servant began tidying the cat room.
Ruanruan lay on the little sofa, staring intently at the television.
She was still too small to climb onto many of the things the bigger cats could play on in the cat room, so for now she could only watch television to pass the dull hours.
She had expected the young master to come "tease" her again after he finished eating, but a long time passed without any sign of him. Suddenly puzzled, she jumped off the little sofa, passed through the pet door at the bottom of the door, and trotted over to the study, thinking he must be inside.
But when she got there, the study door was shut tight. She meowed at it for ages, but clearly no one was inside. Huh? Where is he?
Just then, a servant came out and saw Ruanruan pawing at the study door. Smiling, she said, "Are you looking for Mr. Lu? Mr. Lu went to the office. He won't be back until this evening."
Hearing that, Ruanruan came to her senses. Oh, oh, oh, so he went to work.
Oh, yeah! That's great!
No one can bother me now. I can do whatever I want!
At noon, on the top floor of the Lu Group building, Lu Linyuan finished his work, loosened his tie, and called the servant responsible for looking after Ruanruan at home to ask how her morning had gone.
The servant hurriedly gave him a vivid account of how Ruanruan had looked for him but couldn't find him. "As soon as you left, Mr. Lu, Ruanruan stopped watching television and ran to the study to look for you. She kept meowing at the door. You could tell at a glance that she wanted to play with you. Even her food didn't taste as good to her."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, I saw it with my own eyes. But after I told her you'd gone to the office, she stopped meowing. It was as if she could understand what I was saying. She's so clever."
She was the second person to call Ruanruan clever. Lu Linyuan took it as a polite remark; after all, he didn't think Ruanruan was all that smart. Still, going to the study to look for him was a good showing.
In a pleasant mood, Lu Linyuan hung up and took the time to check the morning's surveillance footage. Once he looked, though, it completely overturned what the servant had said.
He started watching from when he left the company to go to work and watched up to the point when he had just returned to his office and sat down after a meeting.
Ruanruan was certainly living in comfort.
When she heard that the hateful capitalist, the sharp-tongued young master, had gone to the office, she immediately returned to her cat room. Somehow, she pawed at the controls and switched the cartoon to an idol group concert hosted by some television station. To the lively, rhythmic music, the little kitten twisted her body and bobbed her head-
And that wasn't all. As she listened to the music and danced, she also found time to have a drink of water and eat some dry food. Later, the servant prepared little snacks for her too, including dried fish and teething chews.
Tsk, tsk. She was so relaxed, enjoying herself immensely.
After watching the concert, tired from dancing and with a full belly, she yawned and jumped into her cat bed. As usual, she sprawled out on all fours and slept soundly until noon. She had only just gotten up to eat. She didn't have milk at midday, but mashed chicken breast with wet kitten food instead. She ate with relish, smacking her lips even louder than usual. It seemed the little thing was in quite a good mood...
He really couldn't see any sign that the little thing missed him.
Did she miss me at all?
It looked more as though she had been waiting for him to leave and had finally begun to let her true nature out.
He had to admit, the little thing had quite a good sense of rhythm. She was actually so interested in singing and dancing shows.
She bobbed that little head of hers pretty well, too.
Well, to reward her, Lu Linyuan decided to get off work and go home early today.
