He Was the One About to Get Stressed
Lu Linyuan had only pretended to scare her, to let her know it wasn't time for her to climb up and down yet. Seeing the kitten snuggled obediently against his hand, he was satisfied and put her back on the bed.
Ruanruan had thought he would put her in the cat bed himself, so why had he put her back on the bed?
The kitten looked at him, her face full of confusion.
After putting Ruanruan down, Lu Linyuan went to take care of other things. Ruanruan kneaded the quilt and settled down on it, deciding not to worry about it. The place was pretty comfortable anyway, and once she started kneading, she wanted to keep going. Hehe. After lying down, she even rubbed her cheeks against the silk quilt. This thing must have cost a lot.
At 10:10, Lu Linyuan finished up and returned to the bedside. He pulled back the quilt, sat down on the bed, and scooped Ruanruan up from where she was resting at the foot of it, placing her on the pillow beside him.
"Behave yourself while you sleep." It sounded like a warning, but it was more of a wish: he hoped she would behave.
After all, humans couldn't expect a little animal to understand instructions precisely, so he was hoping she would behave.
Meow?
What did he mean? What did he mean?
Before Ruanruan could get an explanation or an answer, Lu Linyuan switched off the light, plunging the room into darkness.
By the time Ruanruan's eyes adjusted to the dark and she could see Lu Linyuan, she found that he had lain down perfectly straight and closed his eyes, waiting for sleep to come.
Clearly, she was going to sleep beside him tonight too!
A grown man like him actually needed a kitten to sleep with him. It suddenly dawned on Ruanruan that the tall, mighty, super-handsome guy was actually afraid to sleep alone. Now that he had a cat, he could openly ask her, a little kitty, to keep him company in bed.
Ruanruan, who felt as though she had seen through to the heart of the matter, smugly stretched on the pillow. It's all right. Since you saved me this afternoon, this little kitty will keep you company.
Delighted at what she thought was the discovery of the domineering CEO's little secret, she went off to meet the Duke of Zhou.
After Ruanruan fell asleep, Lu Linyuan opened his eyes and looked at her. Mm, she was behaving herself well enough. Then he took a square, towel-like thing and covered her belly with it.
At 3:30 in the morning, Ruanruan woke up needing to pee. There was nothing to be done about it. She was still a little kitten with limited storage capacity; if she drank milk at night, she had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
But the goat milk was so fresh and sweet that she couldn't bear to give it up, so she had to get up once in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
Whimpering, Ruanruan set off to find the bathroom in the dark. Still groggy with sleep, she had long forgotten where she was sleeping and thought she was still in the cat room.
She moved from the pillow onto the quilt so quickly that she was about to fall off the bed. Sensing the movement, Lu Linyuan instinctively stretched his leg sideways to block her, then switched on the bedside lamp and reached out to scoop her up from the edge of the bed.
"What's the matter with you?" She had been sleeping perfectly well, then suddenly started crawling all over the bed.
Ruanruan blearily lifted her eyelids and let out the delicate sound unique to a little kitten. It sounded as if she were acting cute, or as if she had some trouble she couldn't speak of.
Actually, it wasn't that she couldn't speak of it. She wanted to say it, but she couldn't speak human!
"Meow, meow, meow-" Boss, it's nothing much. I just need to use the bathroom. Help, help!
Ruanruan scrambled with all four paws, frantically trying to get off him before she gave her boss another warm soaking. This was no time for the plum blossoms to bloom twice.
Lu Linyuan watched her for a moment. Finally, from the eager, familiar panic in her eyes, he understood what she needed to do and immediately carried her over to the cat toilet he had prepared in advance.
A kitten's self-control was limited, but fortunately, their CEO was quick to act. It was fair to say he reached the cat toilet in two great strides.
The litter box wasn't far away either. This was probably the CEO's foresight at work.
As soon as her paws touched the familiar texture of the litter, Ruanruan let it all out in a torrent. She felt so relieved that her eyes closed. Honestly, she had almost thought she wouldn't be able to hold it and would poop in the CEO's hand again. Thank goodness, thank goodness. The little kitty's dignity had been saved.
Ruanruan didn't come out immediately after using the toilet. She gazed at the CEO with her big, pale green eyes, waiting for his cleaning service.
It was rather embarrassing. Before this, the maid had always wiped her, but now she had to let the boss do it. Really, wasn't it a bit, well, you know?
She was a cat now, so she didn't have any of those bashful thoughts. The main thing was that he was the CEO, the big boss. Asking the big boss to provide a little employee like her with personal service was a bit... wasn't it? You tell me.
Lu Linyuan hadn't expected a kitten to be so much trouble. He had to attend to her bathroom needs in the middle of the night, then wipe her clean afterward. He had never done this before, but he knew how without having to ask. So the CEO, forced to take on the job, pulled out a wet wipe and silently wiped Ruanruan from top to bottom, including all four paws, while she lowered her eyes and hung her little head.
He made sure there was no unpleasant smell and that her paws were clean too.
Although it was his first time doing this, he had been very thorough. Ruanruan was quite satisfied.
Not bad, not bad. Your reward is one rub from this kitty's head.
With that thought, Ruanruan rubbed her head against Lu Linyuan from the safety of his arms.
"Does that mean you're comfortable?" Lu Linyuan thought the gesture meant she felt comfortable and satisfied now, so she had taken the initiative to get close to him.
Ruanruan rubbed against him again. Think whatever you like. Either way, it means you did a great job, young man.
Lu Linyuan put Ruanruan back on the pillow beside him, then lay down himself and pulled up the quilt. Before silently closing his eyes, he covered her belly with the towel-like thing again so she wouldn't catch a chill.
Ruanruan obediently closed her eyes too, ready to sleep.
But it had to be said that little kittens' bellies felt empty after they pooped. They got hungry and needed food.
Usually, when Ruanruan was alone in the cat room and came out of the litter box in the middle of the night, she would nibble a couple of bites of soft, wet cat food before going back to sleep.
Once formed, that habit was hard to break, especially for a growing kitten. So after she lay down, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep, her head full of food.
Especially since she had eaten plenty from roadside stalls when she was human. It was cheap and tasty, and although it wasn't very nutritious, that junk food would rush into your mind when you were hungry, stimulating your gastric glands and making you salivate until you could hardly hold back the drool.
I want something to eat so badly. If only I could get up and eat something right now.
Ruanruan didn't want to make a sound for fear of disturbing her boss. He still had to go to work at the company tomorrow; rich people weren't idle.
In the dim room, she looked up at Lu Linyuan and spent a moment admiring his beautiful, striking profile, intoxicated by that divine face. Then she looked at his eyes and confirmed that he seemed to be asleep, his breathing steady. She sneaked down from the pillow, stepped across the quilt as quietly as she could, and went to the edge to have a look.
She looked here and there and spotted a footstool-or was it a bedside bench for changing shoes?
She planned to climb onto the bench, then make her way down from the low stool. She was going to find food.
Food, food, I want food.
Just as she was about to jump onto the upholstered stool, Lu Linyuan's long leg appeared in front of her again. It gently blocked her and sent her back onto the bed, where she rolled softly across the quilt.
Lu Linyuan sat up, pinching the bridge of his nose. Without even opening his eyes, he spoke.
"What is it this time...?" He sounded rather like he was talking to an unreasonable girlfriend, helpless but also a little reluctant to blame her-or perhaps even doting?
Caught in the act, Ruanruan immediately wrapped her paws around her head and buried her face in the quilt.
Aaah, help! How did he catch me? I didn't make a sound! I shouldn't have disturbed the boss!
Boss, go to sleep! Hurry up and sleep!
"Are you hungry?" Lu Linyuan lowered his hand and asked after making a reasonable guess.
6.
Smart, so smart. You've cracked the cat language.
Hearing this, Ruanruan immediately raised her head to look at Lu Linyuan, as if to say, You're right, young man. I am hungry!
"Meow!" She added an emphatic sound in affirmation. Yes, you guessed right! Quick, hurry it up! This child needs food to grow!
It could also be called putting on weight.
After speaking, Lu Linyuan saw that the cat, who had been hiding her face in apparent shyness, immediately turned to look at him with an innocent expression. She even stuck out her little tongue to lick her mouth and swished her little tail.
"Yes, my fault. I forgot you're still this tiny. You probably get hungry in the middle of the night like a baby, and need to eat and use the toilet..." He couldn't understand why he had brought this trouble on himself. Perhaps he shouldn't have worried so much that evening and asked a professional about it, concerned that she might get stressed.
She didn't look stressed, but he was the one who was about to get stressed.
Lu Linyuan sighed inwardly. He had only been back in bed for half an hour, and now he got up again, scooped up the kitten, and carried her out. As he walked, he weighed her in his hand and said, "You're not very old, but you're not light." She wasn't actually that heavy; he just felt she should weigh a little more than others her age, given how much she could eat.
Ruanruan was starving. Lu Linyuan took her to the cat room, set her on the table, opened the cabinet where the cat food was kept, and took out a can of kitten food and put it on a plate. Watching beside him, her eyes gleamed green and her claws scratched at the surface several times, her face full of impatience.
"Meow, meow, meow-"
Lu Linyuan glanced at Ruanruan. Not bad. He hadn't said she could eat, and she had actually managed to resist dashing over.
"Go on, eat."
At his command, Ruanruan charged up to the plate like a little pig and buried her head in her food. It was semi-moist food, so it shouldn't have ended up all over the table, but this kitty had a knack for it. She couldn't worry about all that. Forget being dainty and graceful; eating was what mattered!
Anyway, she would gobble up everything spilled on the table in a moment. Don't worry, she would definitely leave him a clean, gleaming table!
Lu Linyuan didn't know what Ruanruan was thinking. Seeing cat food scattered all over the table, he fell silent for a moment. In the end, he said nothing, merely raising a hand to rub his temple, his expression saying: let her be.
Unable to stand watching, Lu Linyuan didn't disturb Ruanruan's meal. Instead, he took a clean rag and prepared to wipe the table. This wasn't a chore he usually did either. He hadn't expected that keeping a cat meant having to do everything.
Just as Lu Linyuan rolled up his sleeves and prepared to wipe the table, Ruanruan spotted the movement out of the corner of her eye. Her expression instantly turned sharp and serious, and she darted to the spot he was about to wipe and licked it clean first.
Afterward, she gave Lu Linyuan a look, as if to say: every grain of food should be cherished.
Cat food was food too. It all had to be cherished.
Lu Linyuan looked at Ruanruan, his hand holding the rag frozen in midair-
