It seemed causing trouble was going to be a long and arduous task. Getting these people to dislike a cat would be pretty difficult, since they depended on the CEO for their livelihoods. She couldn't take her anger out on them for spoiling her plans, either.

The meeting officially began, and the atmosphere was far more relaxed than before.

At meetings in the past, the moment everyone saw the CEO's expressionless face, their nerves would wind tight as bowstrings. They were so afraid of being caught making a mistake that they didn't dare relax for a moment.

A department manager joked with a smile, "Look, even the kitten agrees with this proposal."

Ruanruan turned to look at him, thinking, You're pulling that on me, buddy?

Another person said, "She meowed so enthusiastically this time, like she was agreeing with Manager Liu. This cat is so perceptive."

"You really are a little lucky star. Last night, when I thought about presenting this proposal today, I was so worried it wouldn't be approved that my stomach hurt. But now everything's fine. I can sleep well for the next few months!"

"..." Well, did my bad intentions just end up doing someone a favor?

Special Assistant Zhang picked Ruanruan up with a smile and said to the employees beside him who were responsible for the project, "Keep up the good work. You did a good job this time. From the look of things, I'd say the CEO is very satisfied."

Looking as though her efforts had been wasted after all, Ruanruan was carried out of the meeting room by Special Assistant Zhang.

"Sure, go ahead," Special Assistant Zhang said generously.

Another girl said, "Can I pet her? What breed is she? I love her."

"Go ahead, just be gentle. She's a golden shaded cat."

"Her color is so light. It looks truer to the breed than my friend's cat."

"She looks like a blue golden shaded cat. Look at her coat, the color on the bottoms of her paws, and those pink paw pads. You can tell at a glance she's expensive." Special Assistant Zhang wanted a cat too, but he'd never had the time. He hadn't expected the CEO to get one first. Now he could experience the joy of having a cat too. Did this count as getting paid to pet a cat?

"Why is she lying so still in your arms? She looks like she's asleep." Except her eyes were open and she wasn't moving at all, which looked both strange and cute.

Several men and women passing by gathered around and stayed, all chattering about Ruanruan.

Special Assistant Zhang stroked Ruanruan's fur and said, "Maybe she tired herself out playing in the meeting room and doesn't feel like moving now. She was very lively just a little while ago. Even the CEO looked less serious."

"That's great. This cat really is a little lucky star. I thought the CEO looked less scary today too, and even more handsome, hehe." He had been so stern before that she hadn't dared look his handsome face straight on. Now that his demeanor wasn't so sharp, his handsomeness seemed to have shot straight up.

Ruanruan lay in Special Assistant Zhang's arms like a soulless puddle of mud, surrounded by everyone's happy chatter and the occasional click of a camera.

After several minutes, Special Assistant Zhang overcame every obstacle and finally brought her back to the office, where he placed her in the cat bed on the cat tree.

"All right, rest if you're tired. You really are a lovable little thing." If Special Assistant Zhang hadn't had things to do, he could have kept holding her.

By then, people in the company's internal group chat were going crazy posting pictures of the kitten.

"Look, look! Freshly snapped pictures of a supremely adorable cat. You can't fault those looks, right?" The message was followed by four or five close-up photos of Ruanruan's face.

"Those eyes are like emeralds. She's way too cute! Just looking at the photos has my heart falling for her. If I stood next to her and petted her up close, wouldn't I faint?!"

"Help me up. I can still pet her."

"I'm so jealous of the CEO. He's rich and handsome, and now he has a cat too. How could anyone not envy that life?!"

"I never would've imagined the CEO would have a cat. It doesn't seem to suit him. I thought he'd at least have a big wolfdog or one of those big foreign dogs."

"I heard Special Assistant Zhang say the CEO's younger sister, our young miss, gave him this cat as a gift."

The group was still discussing Ruanruan's looks and cuteness, how very adorable and lovable she was.

Our Ruanruan was lying in her cat bed with nothing left to live for. But when Lu Linyuan returned to the office, she forced herself to perk up and decided to continue the fight.

Lu Linyuan returned to the office and glanced at Ruanruan sprawled in the cat bed. He went back to his desk and was just about to sit down when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the sprawled kitten scramble to her feet and look at him, as though she had only just noticed he was back.

"Meow!" Ruanruan called out and reached her paws toward Lu Linyuan, asking to be picked up.

Just watch me cause trouble.

Lu Linyuan met Ruanruan's eyes for a moment as she reached out her paws to be held. Looking helpless, as though there was nothing he could do with her, he walked back to the cat tree and reached out to pick her up. "We were only apart for a little while. Why did you meow as soon as you saw me? Do you like being with me that much?" His rising tone hinted at a certain question: could she not do without him?

Their CEO might look cold and indifferent, but deep down, he was quite susceptible to Ruanruan's act.

Ruanruan's face darkened as she listened. It seemed her behavior had given the CEO the wrong idea.
