What a Clever Little Cat
As soon as Ruanruan heard that, she huffed twice to herself. Young master, you really are a narcissist. Know your place: you're just a can opener.
Actually, Ruanruan wanted to call him a poop scooper, but the young master was so rich that the servants handled the poop scooping, so he couldn't be called that. Can opener would just about do: he occasionally opened cans and tore open packages for her. Calling him a bag ripper didn't roll off the tongue, so she called him a can opener.
Though Ruanruan was grumbling inwardly, she still fawned over him, cuddling and rubbing against him.
Once Lu Linyuan opened a packet of dried fish for Ruanruan, the little one immediately ignored the can opener and buried her head in her food. When she was done, she washed her face, wiggled her little butt, and prepared to swish her tail and leave.
But she had barely turned around when Lu Linyuan scooped her straight into his arms.
"Done eating and already pretending you don't know me?" His tone was caught between laughter and exasperation.
Ruanruan promptly played dead, continuing her performance as a "cat pancake," flat as a jianbing at a pancake stall.
"Playing dead again." Lu Linyuan gave Ruanruan a shake and heard the sloshing of liquid in her belly. It was probably the milk she had drunk before he came back.
Seeing Ruanruan playing dead, Lu Linyuan casually placed his hand on her ticklish spot, his threat plain to see.
Ruanruan immediately caught on and acted cute to curry favor with Lu Linyuan, meowing in a sweet, coquettish voice.
"Meow, meow, meow~" You win, you win. I won't play dead anymore, I won't.
He looked at Ruanruan's adorable face, rubbed her head, and said, "What a clever little kitty."
A month later, it was time for Ruanruan's third vaccine shot.
Half a month ago, Lu Yiyi had planned to take Ruanruan for her vaccination, but after asking the cattery staff, she had made an appointment for a month later, which was today.
Lu Yiyi had told her brother in advance and arrived early at his residence in the city center to take Ruanruan away.
The moment Ruanruan saw Lu Yiyi, she acted as though she had seen family, happily rubbing against Yiyi.
Lu Yiyi looked as though she had missed Ruanruan terribly too. She held her and rubbed her against her cheek, saying playfully, "I skipped makeup today especially so I could cuddle with you, so I wouldn't get powder all over your face. Pretty thoughtful of me, right?"
Ruanruan was deeply touched. She really is a little beauty with a beautiful face and a kind heart. But even if you had put on makeup, I'd still be happy to rub against you. What's a little powder!
Ruanruan's fondness for Yiyi came from the bottom of her heart, because unlike Lu Linyuan, Yiyi never set conditions and made her give something in return before giving her food.
If Lu Linyuan got her something to eat, he would definitely make her put on a little performance.
Whether it was playing dead after being shot, swishing her tail, or jumping up and spinning in circles, even though he guided her with things like a cat teaser wand, it was still tiring, okay?
Not like their little sweetheart Lu Yiyi. When she gave Ruanruan food, she just gave it to her, with no conditions whatsoever!
Ruanruan happily ate dried fish in the cat carrier, a satisfied purr rumbling in her throat.
But when faced with the vaccine, she still got a little scared.
I wasn't all that scared of shots before. Why does the vaccine needle look so terrifying now that I've become a kitty?
Ruanruan tucked in her head and rested her cheeks on her front paws. Though she was so scared that her tail was tucked between her legs, she didn't dodge or struggle. When the needle went in, she only gave a slight shiver. A few seconds later, the needle came out, and Ruanruan let out a mew at the sharp sting as Lu Yiyi picked her up in her arms.
"My poor baby, it's over, it's over." As she spoke, she sent her brother the video she had just taken of the vaccination.
She also sent Lu Linyuan a voice message.
"Look at our brave Ruanruan. She was scared to death but didn't try to dodge. She's so brave."
Hearing that, Ruanruan chimed in inwardly: Exactly, exactly!
Before long, Lu Linyuan replied.
"Brave? Are you sure she wasn't too scared to move?"
"..."
Her cover blown, Ruanruan roared inwardly: Screw you!
