Playing on a Minecraft Server
Online.
Discussions about Minecraft were still growing, both positive and negative, but that did not affect the Starfield Building Cup competition.
Quite a few players had already begun building game structures by hand in Minecraft.
As Chen Ze browsed videos online, he also noticed the heated discussion about Minecraft.
But it had hardly any effect on him. It was just some people spouting nonsense.
He had played Minecraft extensively, so how could he not know how much potential the game had?
He glanced at the comments in his livestream. Plenty of people there were discussing Minecraft too. Of course, the people in his stream had watched him play, so they all understood the game's appeal.
"Ahem."
"Guys, today we're going to play on a server. I haven't really played on one lately."
"Everyone says it's fun, so I'm going to see what it's all about today."
Chen Ze cleared his throat twice as he spoke, then opened the Xingye Gaming Platform and found a server.
The server was called [Rebuild the Homeland - The Lost World].
He couldn't tell what was interesting about the server from its name, but after joining, he discovered that it was actually linked to his account.
In other words, each person's Starfield Games account was also a server account, with its own save.
Chen Ze raised an eyebrow. It seemed interesting.
The game finished loading, and he appeared in a place that resembled a lobby, with a book in his hand.
"Server play guide"
He opened the book, and a list of game guides and introductions to the gameplay appeared before him.
The first item explained that everyone could claim an enormous 64×64 plot in the residential area. Only you could build and break blocks on your plot; other people could not break the blocks on it.
Of course, you could grant people permission, allowing them to come to your plot and modify or break blocks as well.
The second mode was the resource world, where players could gather resources to exchange for weapons and equipment, or use them to construct buildings on their plots.
The third mode was grinding monsters to level up. The server had a level system, and players could unlock higher-level weapons and equipment by fighting bosses, or use materials dropped by bosses to craft equipment.
The last was the leisure and entertainment mode, which had many games, including Bed Wars, Hunger Games, and SkyWars.
Chen Ze was a little overwhelmed as he read through the descriptions.
What should he do first? Claim a plot?
In the livestream, some people who had played on the server were already flooding the chat.
[Brother Ze, claim a plot first. You'll get some basic rewards with it.]
[You can try Bed Wars. I think it's really fun.]
[No, no, Hunger Games is more fun. That's the interesting one.]
[You guys are all too weak. I'm already a level 45 Battle General. Anyone want to fight the fifth-stage boss together?]
[Awesome, bro. You're already a level 45 Battle General? Can you take me along to grind some materials?]
After seeing those comments, Chen Ze clicked on the residential area and was instantly teleported into a building.
An NPC stood across from him, with a name above his head.
Real estate tycoon: Wang Congcong.
Looking at the NPC's smart-aleck appearance, Chen Ze claimed a plot there and was immediately teleported to its center.
The plot was 64×64, all flat ground.
He looked around. The area was made up of countless square plots stretching as far as he could see, and several of his neighbors had already built houses.
The houses might not have shown his level of skill, but they still looked pretty good.
At that moment, a stream of channel messages appeared in the lower-left corner of his view.
[Trading one diamond for a stack of logs. If you have any, TP to me to make the trade.]
[Xiong Family Shop opens today. We've got everything you need, available for diamonds and points.]
[Any experts willing to take me along to grind materials? The fourth stage is too hard to grind.]
[Bed Wars is so much fun. Anyone want to team up?]
[Who has a Wither skeleton skull? I can trade diamonds for it.]
There were a lot of messages in the channel. Some were trading items, some were fighting bosses and grinding materials, and others were looking for people to play with.
After seeing them, Chen Ze suddenly had an indescribable feeling, though he didn't know why. He felt that this game server... was genuinely interesting.
He had never experienced this kind of gaming atmosphere in a game before.
He came back to his senses and saw a chest on his plot. Inside was a set of iron equipment and tools, which meant he could go straight to the resource area to gather resources.
But instead of going there, he headed to the leisure and entertainment area, because over the past two days he had seen quite a few Minecraft minigames while browsing videos.
Bed Wars, for example, looked like a lot of fun to him.
"Guys, let's play this minigame today. I haven't played it before."
"If I don't play well later, go easy on me."
As he spoke, Chen Ze arrived at the leisure lobby.
There was a wall here with more than a dozen panels on it, each displaying the name and rules of a different game.
[Bed Wars]: A casual minigame where you protect your team's bed and destroy the enemy's.
[Hunger Games]: Respawn at a random location and survive freely. Only by surviving to the end can you truly win.
[SkyWars]: Fight against others from individual islands in the sky. Everyone has only one life.
Several minigames were described there. After thinking it over, Chen Ze clicked on Bed Wars.
Bed Wars was relatively simple for him, because the mode had teammates and allowed respawning.
As long as his team's bed wasn't destroyed, he could keep respawning, which made it relatively easy for him.
After entering the game, Chen Ze picked a room at random and joined it.
The room was waiting to fill up before the game could start. Just then, his voice channel opened, and Xiao Dingdang's voice came through.
"A-Ze, you're playing Bed Wars too?"
Chen Ze froze for a moment when he heard the voice.
What the heck? Xiao Dingdang's playing too?
"Hahaha, I checked, and we're in the same room."
"You're on the red team, and I'm on the blue team."
Hearing that, Chen Ze looked around and spotted someone with a blue cat skin.
Wow, what a coincidence that they had actually joined the same room.
"Xiao Dingdang, how come you're playing Bed Wars too?"
Over voice chat, Xiao Dingdang sounded both tired and excited.
"Ah, don't even ask. I played all day yesterday. It was fun and thrilling, no question."
"You have no idea how it feels to pull off a last-second survival move when you're falling into the void. It's really thrilling."
Xiao Dingdang grew more excited as he spoke.
To him, the thrill was like a stimulant, sending his adrenaline soaring.
The more it happened, the more excited he became.
