Platform Revenue, Creator Incentive Program
The next day, as dawn broke, the five divided up their tasks and got to work.
Chen Ze went to a prime spot he had found earlier. A small river ran through it, and there were plenty of flowers nearby.
Yeah, this is the place.
Chen Ze rolled up his sleeves and said to his livestream, "Guys, today I'll show you God Ze's building skills."
The viewers in the livestream saw that Chen Ze was about to start building and got ready to watch.
Honestly, the villa Chen Ze had built before had been pretty impressive.
But now that he didn't have all the materials, there was no telling whether he could build a good-looking house.
When he reached the lakeside, Chen Ze first cleared away the weeds around him, then began reshaping the terrain.
Before building a house, the ground needed to be leveled. Sometimes, because of the terrain, people with OCD would clear away an entire layer of uneven ground around them.
After smoothing out the terrain a little, Chen Ze placed a few chests nearby and prepared to get to work.
At that moment, Xiao Dingdang and Lü Zhenghao's voices came through the room channel.
"Whoa, there's a building in the sky."
"Yeah, it's huge! What is that thing?"
Both of them sounded astonished. The structure was clearly something spectacular that neither had seen before.
With that, Lü Zhenghao and Xiao Dingdang used wooden planks to build their way up into the sky.
The structure in the sky looked like a village. There were even villagers here!?
"Old Zuo, it's a village."
Lü Zhenghao spoke to Xiao Dingdang as he jumped onto one of the village buildings.
Xiao Dingdang, Zuo Zixuan, was just as amazed. "Yeah, it really is a village. A village in the sky!"
"Whoa, there are treasure chests too."
"Where? Where? Leave me some."
"Diamonds! Dan, look, there are diamonds too."
"Ah! That's insane! There are diamonds in the village chests!"
As the two explored, they found dozens of treasure chests in the village, giving them a haul they were delighted with.
By the time the two returned to the ground, the sky was gradually growing dark.
They happily located Chen Ze on the minimap.
"A-Ze, we're back. How's your house coming along?"
Chen Ze was standing in front of the wooden cabin he had spent the day building, looking at it with satisfaction.
"No problem. It'll make us look good."
When the two arrived at the cabin and saw it sitting beside a small river, their mouths fell open.
The cabin was simply gorgeous. Its main structure was made of birch and oak planks, giving it a white-and-brown color scheme.
The cabin looked like a medieval house. It had two stories, with plenty of flowers planted around it.
"Holy shit, Chen Ze, your building skills are seriously good."
Qiezi's voice rang out. He too had arrived at the cabin and seen the beautiful house.
Teacher Ma had also returned and couldn't help marveling at it.
"This house is really good."
Standing beside them, Chen Ze looked at the cabin he had spent the whole day building, a proud smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
I do have quite a talent for building.
The viewers in all five livestreams fell silent as they looked at the cabin and the five people standing in front of it.
It wasn't that they had nothing to say. They were immersed in the scene and wanted to quietly appreciate it.
Five people and a little house. It felt wonderful.
[I'm so jealous of the five of them playing together like this. I want to find a few friends to play with too.]
[Let's play together. This mod really seems interesting and relaxing.]
[I called up my childhood friend today. It's been so long since we've had the fun of playing games together like this.]
[So true. My partner and I have been playing at home all day.]
[Playing what? Can I join you, bro?]
As the livestream viewers discussed it enthusiastically, a text message notification sounded from the phone on Chen Ze's desk.
He took off his VR headset, picked up his phone, and glanced at it. He froze.
The message was from Starfield, just like the one inviting him to beta test the game.
It suggested that they spend the next few days preparing to hold a building competition. Of course, it was only a suggestion; whether to go through with it was up to him.
After reading it, Chen Ze put his VR headset back on.
He said to the others, "I just got a message from Starfield. They suggested that we hold a building competition."
"What do you think?"
The others were stunned for a few seconds after hearing him, then said, "Sure! No one's ever held a gaming competition before."
"But if we hold one, will anyone participate?"
"Probably. We just don't know the best way to organize it."
"Then why don't we give it a try?"
Chen Ze glanced at the chat and smiled. "Don't worry, there'll definitely be lots of participants. This would be a building competition we're holding in partnership with the official team."
"They'll send people to help us."
With that, everyone readily agreed.
Meanwhile, Su Ye, who was watching their livestreams, smiled.
This competition was a way for him to lay some groundwork for holding esports events in the future, planting the idea of competitions in players' minds.
As for why he wasn't organizing this building competition himself, it was because anything run by the official team would generally feel too formal. It was better to have streamers organize it in partnership with the official team. Before he transmigrated, this had been a well-established form of cooperation.
Competitions held by some streamers really shouldn't be underestimated; they could often have considerable drawing power and bring people together.
He opened his computer and checked the Xingye Gaming Platform's data.
Because game modpacks took so much work to make, no one had created any others yet apart from Starfield's free modpack.
Quite a few people had uploaded lots of character skins, though. With hundreds of thousands of purchases, the platform had taken a share of nearly 300,000 yuan.
People always said games made money. This was fast money indeed.
He figured that before long, people would start making shaders, textures, modpacks, and so on.
That would be when Starfield truly started making money.
But before then, he needed to give those creators some motivation.
With that in mind, he sent Luan Le'an a message on his phone.
Luan Le'an soon arrived at his office, looking a little excited.
"President Su."
Su Ye nodded and gestured for him to sit down.
Luan Le'an sat across from Su Ye and said excitedly, "President Su, I happen to have something to report to you too."
Su Ye smiled. "It's about the gaming platform's revenue, isn't it?"
Luan Le'an was a little taken aback. He hadn't expected his boss to know already.
In just a few short hours, the gaming platform's revenue had surpassed 300,000 yuan. He had been watching the backend data and hadn't had a chance to report it yet.
"President Su, you already knew?"
"Yeah, I just checked the backend data."
"But I mainly called you here for something else."
Su Ye then explained the Creator Incentive Program.
"Go work out a plan for the Creator Incentive Program and post it on the gaming platform."
"We'll still split the revenue fifty-fifty with the creators. Give rewards to the creators with the most downloads in each category."
Luan Le'an wrote down everything President Su said in his notebook.
"Don't worry, President Su. I'll get it up on the platform today."
Su Ye nodded. Once the creators' finished works came out, that would be when the money really started coming in.
