Xu Fan escaped his pursuers, advanced through Qi Refinement, and drew the attention of powerful sects and households. After accepting ties with several factions and climbing the Hidden Dragon Ranking, he defeated Chen Cuo and returned to seclusion.

• Xu Fan escaped Mu Yunyang and entered Yishan City under the alias Ning Caichen, where Zhao Yuanhai tried to manipulate him into seeking a cultivation method and joining the Zhao Clan.
• Xu Fan self-destructed to avoid being taken by the Sword Sect, revived at Peach Blossom Spring Lake, and later killed two of the Three Heroes of the Yin Mountains before breaking through to Qi Refinement.
• Xu Fan killed Mu Fangjin and Han Tianling, then received offers from Tie Shan, Huang Tianfu, Yu Qing, and Yang Haitian, accepting an honorary elder position with the Mystic Yang Sect.

Xu Fan seized the Water-Fire Primordial Spirit, defeated challengers in Bingzhou, and chose to pursue the Great Reversion Pill through Saber-Nurturing Valley. The arc ended with him clearing the Fallen Star Pagoda and rejecting the first Weapon Master’s path and the Great Wilderness Demon-Slaying Saber.

• Bai Lianxin told Xu Fan to seek a Great Reversion Pill through another faction, and Xu Fan chose Saber-Nurturing Valley before using her lotus seed to reach the fourth layer of Qi Refinement.
• Xu Fan killed Luo Quan in Black Sea City, took his Storage Bag, and later cultivated to Great Grandmaster while learning that a black flood dragon threatened Rosy Clouds Island.
• Xu Fan followed the True Person disciples to Rosy Clouds Island, killed Fang Mingyuan and Jueming, and seized the Water-Fire Primordial Spirit during the battle with the black flood dragon.
• Xu Fan went to Bingzhou City with Yang Haitian, where he defeated Wang Sheng and weakened Wang Xuanpeng and Yu Han before they escaped with threats of retaliation.
• Xu Fan asked Yu Qing to gather information for him through the Jade Maiden Society, while Xia Qianqian’s vision of a figure defeating seven weapon masters led the Three Lives Pavilion to warn other factions.
• Xu Fan decided to join Saber-Nurturing Valley to pursue the Great Reversion Pill and traveled there with Su Ya and Su Qiang.
