History

Wild Bear and Sun Clan Guardian

Shi Jian originally survived in the Great Maple Mountain Range by gnawing bark and drinking stream water. After more than ten years, he encountered the Enlightenment System and awakened his intelligence; another thirty-five years of cultivation brought him to Foundation Establishment 29.

Recognizing that his ordinary bloodline offered little future in the wild, he deliberately attracted a human cultivator’s attention. His plan was to become a spirit beast, outlive his patron, and turn himself into the lineage’s guardian ancestor. He intended to use human resources to establish an intelligent bear clan rather than remain anyone’s obedient beast 1.

He demanded half the Sun Clan’s annual income and unrestricted library access, receiving eight hundred Spirit Stones from Sun Hangchun. He also enlightened a gray rat to monitor the clan’s activities 4. His protection and instruction gradually made him the clan’s totem and revered ancestor 11.

Building a Bear Clan

Shi Jian’s reputation spread after he joined Elder Lei Lie in destroying a Devil Cultivator lair. Exaggerated accounts even claimed that he was a concealed Golden Core demon 15 16.

He brought 123 bear cubs from the Great Maple Mountain Range into the Sun Clan’s valley. Selecting three promising cubs, he enlightened them, taught them the Tyrant Bear Qi-Devouring Method, and named them Shi Pan, Shi Mo, and Shi Yin. He explicitly intended them to found a bear clan, not become the Sun Clan’s spirit beasts 34.

His integration into human society paid off materially: after roughly thirty years in human territory, he had advanced from Foundation Establishment Early Stage to Late Stage. He judged that remaining in the mountains would, at best, have brought him to the Middle Stage in the same period 54.

Lightning Transformation and White Cloud Temple

After acquiring lightning affinity, Shi Jian sought stronger lightning resources and tempered his body with heavenly lightning. Under Purple Firmament’s guidance, he began replacing his original essence with Lightning Origin, enduring an agonizing transformation that opened cracks in his bloodline barrier 56 61 85 86.

Following his Golden Core breakthrough, he negotiated an alliance with Yun Du. White Cloud Temple granted him official backing and a share of White Cloud Commandery’s benefits, while Shi Jian insisted on complete autonomy and protection from interference with his clan 103.

The victory came with heavy losses. Sun Bo’an had been refined into a living-flesh puppet and lost his soul; five other Sun Clan elders died defending the formation. Shi Jian reflected that most of the seven elders who had risen alongside him forty years earlier were gone 104.

Rise of the Myriad Demon Domain

While cultivating on Purple Firmament Peak, Shi Jian developed multiple bear, rat, and dog lines, maintained scattered strongholds, and prepared secret-realm retreats. His ambition expanded from personal survival to supporting the tens of thousands of demons dependent on him 220 229.

He protected White Crane’s Nascent Soul breakthrough and secured an alliance between their clans. Rather than immediately enter a war among human Nascent Soul cultivators, he persuaded White Crane to wait until the combatants had exhausted themselves 295.

Their forces established the Myriad Demon Domain in Ming Province, settling thirty-six tribes, five bear branches, the Azure Ape Line, and coastal aquatic clans across its Spirit Veins 302. Shi Jian later formed his own Nascent Soul and joined White Crane at the Kunyuan Secret Realm, where he destroyed True Lord Jianling’s body and blockaded the entrance against the Righteous Qi Gate 323 325.

Shi Jian continued expanding through calculated warfare. He doubled the domain’s territory by taking Huang and Hua provinces while manipulating rival factions into containing one another 354 360. Studying stolen Space Dao inheritances also led him to suspect that Xuanling and the Boundless Sea might be a sealed world limiting its inhabitants’ cultivation 371.

Beast Realm and the Lightning Bear Line

After the struggle over the Spaceless Dao Fruit, Shi Jian reached the Beast Realm and encountered Xiong Sha, an ancestor of the Giant Bear Clan’s Savage Sha Lineage 413 416. He subsequently fought for resources in the contested Three Kings Mountain region 418.

The Mountain Bear Lineage invested in him with Purple Firmament Golden Lightning Essence, a Giant Spirit Warship, two Nascent Soul retainers, and a marriage arrangement with Shan Li. Shi Jian understood that accepting made him part of the lineage’s political interests 429.

He distinguished himself as a vanguard in the Giant Bear Clan’s western campaigns, killing four Nascent Soul enemies at one stronghold 447 449. Later, he defeated seven Lightning Bear leaders together and ordered their branches to unite on the Divine Firmament Plain 470.

On returning to his former homeland, he found only thirty or forty surviving bear followers sheltered by the Frostwing Clan. Shi Yin and the others confronted him over the centuries they had waited through catastrophe and flight. Shi Jian accepted responsibility rather than excusing his absence 479 480.

Dao Realm Campaigns

Shi Jian entered the Dao Realm to improve through battle and obtain Treasured Earth resources for Shan Li’s advancement 494 497. He later risked the aftermath of a battle between Dao Venerables to interrupt Yan Zhen’s ascent, using the Barbarian Bone power Ancestor Egu had left within him 518.

The attack devastated his own body: half his meridians were shattered, most of his organs were destroyed, and lingering Dao might obstructed his regeneration. Shan Li tended him daily, and blessings from Earth Virtue and Barbarian Bone helped his recovery 519 520. He awakened a century later at Middle Spirit Transformation 521.

Shi Jian subsequently commanded warships and troops against the Spirit Race, using prepared terrain and concentrated fire to offset enemy advantages 539 540. After reaching Late Spirit Transformation, he survived pursuit by a Five-Foundation Extreme Realm sword cultivator by detonating a damaged Space Dao treasure and escaping through the resulting black hole 558 568.

His military achievements earned the Lightning Bear Line the thirty-million-li Li Bear Plains as a fief. By then, he had reached Late Spirit Transformation before the age of two thousand 583.

Profound Lightning Trial and the Lightless Dead Realm

Ancestor Egu secured Shi Jian entry to the Profound Lightning Imperial Clan’s ancestral grounds as a Dao Venerable seed. Shi Jian accepted the opportunity and vowed not to return before reaching the Extreme Realm 594.

During the ensuing expedition, his willingness to endure an Extreme Realm attack alarmed even his allies 609. Eight years refining ancient lightning wood restored his injuries and strengthened both his body and his developing fourth foundation 615.

He later fought Ming Jue, the Nether Abyss Emperor, using the wounded Extreme Realm demon as a whetstone. After killing him with fused lightning, Shi Jian stripped the emperor’s treasury and waited for the collapsing realm’s gate to reopen 621 622. His return drew awe and fear from the trial’s observers and elders 624.

Shi Jian’s body changes substantially as he replaces his ordinary black bear essence with lightning and advances through cultivation 85 86.

His original spirit-beast scheme is designed to reverse the relationship between patron and dependent: he wants humans to supply resources while treating him as an ancestor. He carefully performs aloofness, gratitude, or apparent struggle when those displays improve his position 1 22 27.

His caution is practical rather than absolute. He understands that superior Divine Sense cannot substitute for cultivation, yet becomes ruthlessly willing to risk his body when a decisive opportunity appears. His assault on the Spaceless Dao Fruit and intervention against Yan Zhen show how far he will depart from his early refusal to risk his life 185 413 518.

He is protective without being egalitarian. He supports descendants of meritorious followers, invests in promising juniors, and takes responsibility for the abandonment felt by his surviving subordinates. At the same time, he destroys weaker clans for resources and accepts conquest as a consequence of strength 278 375 447 480 497.
