Ch. 101Seeking the Dao

Fang Yu endured a heavenly lightning tribulation that repaired his flawed cultivation methods and revealed a path toward the Purple Mansion realm. After Zhang Daochang and Feng Yi intercepted two of his opportunities, Fang Yu flew to the battlefield and attacked Qiu Xuanlong.

  • Fang Yu sensed Zhang Daochang approaching, contracted the Red Lotus Karmic Fire Formation, and prepared to flee.
  • A lightning tribulation struck Fang Yu, and the Heavenly Dao revealed the flaws and hidden mysteries of his cultivation methods as his body and Golden Core were repeatedly destroyed and restored.
  • Fang Yu asked how to advance Phoenix Sets the Plains Ablaze into a Divine Ability and reach the Purple Mansion realm, and sensed that he must travel west.
  • Zhang Daochang and Feng Yi intercepted the sixth and seventh lightning bolts, so Fang Yu vowed to settle the karmic debt and rushed toward the battlefield.
  • Fang Yu sent a small bird toward Qiu Xuanlong and Tie Feng, where it expanded and pounced on Qiu Xuanlong.

Ch. 102The Elixir Forms

Fang Yu and Embroidered Tiger killed Qiu Xuanlong and Tie Feng, but Feng Yi revealed that he had completed his Divine Ability and trapped Embroidered Tiger inside a Dragon-Tiger Great Elixir. The chapter left Fang Yu watching as Embroidered Tiger was drawn toward Feng Yi and transformed within the elixir.

  • Fang Yu’s fire phoenix battled Qiu Xuanlong’s black dragon while Embroidered Tiger struck Qiu Xuanlong and Tie Feng betrayed him with a sword thrust.
  • The fire phoenix killed Tie Feng, and Fang Yu absorbed it, gaining enough Dao Attainment to seek a Purple Mansion opportunity in the west.
  • Qiu Xuanlong died and began transforming the surrounding land and weather as Feng Yi arrived in fury.
  • Embroidered Tiger trapped Feng Yi in Fang Yu’s array disc and began advancing to the Purple Mansion by drawing on the wind and rain from Qiu Xuanlong’s Dao transformation.
  • Feng Yi escaped the array atop a water dragon, revealed his completed Dragon-Tiger Great Elixir Divine Ability, and drew the newly advanced Embroidered Tiger into an elixir of intertwined water and fire.

Ch. 103Dividing the Feast

Fang Yu helped Zhang Daochang draw Embroidered Tiger’s souls and true spirit from the Dragon-Tiger Great Elixir, while Feng Yi and Moon-Embracing fought over the elixir. Months later, Fang Yu released Embroidered Tiger’s true spirit to choose a new life, then set out west in search of his own chance to attain the Purple Mansion.

  • Moon-Embracing froze the Dragon-Tiger Great Elixir with Sword Intent, but Feng Yi blocked the attack with waves from the river.
  • Zhang Daochang gave Fang Yu the Crimson Firmament Liberation by Violence Manual and asked him to draw out the great elixir’s souls.
  • Fang Yu used his heart fire to extract Embroidered Tiger’s true spirit, while Zhang Daochang took the tiger’s souls into Azure Sun.
  • Fang Yu released the thread of fate connecting him to Zhao Heming and escaped after the Moon-Embracing Sword Intent was nearly spent.
  • Months later, Fang Yu offered Embroidered Tiger’s true spirit the choice of where and how to be reborn, then left it near a mortal town.
  • Embroidered Tiger’s true spirit headed toward the town, and Fang Yu traveled west, hoping to find his opportunity to attain the Purple Mansion.

Ch. 104A Chess Piece

Fang Yu reflected on the mysteries of the two cultivation paths and explored the sword Zhang Daochang had given him. The sword shattered after showing him a series of scenes revealing skills and techniques from its past.

  • The Moon-Embracing Sword Immortal condemned Feng Yi for intervening over the Dragon-Tiger Great Elixir and dismissed Feng Yi as a chess piece.
  • Fang Yu reviewed his gains from the affair and wondered why his Golden Core tribulation had taught him only Dao of Qi Ingestion methods.
  • Fang Yu considered whether the Kunlun Secret Realm connected to the extinct Kunlun lineage and planned to seek information by guiding true spirits into Golden Core sects.
  • Fang Yu sent his divine sense into Zhang Daochang's sword and experienced scenes of blacksmith apprentices, sword practice, Molten Edge Flow forging, battlefield techniques, and blood talisman formation.
  • The little sword cracked apart, ending Fang Yu's visions.

Ch. 105Ascension

After receiving the Molten Edge Flow Divine Ability inheritance, Fang Yu cultivated aboard a White Deer Sect treasure ship and sent ordinary mortal true spirits to reincarnate along the way. He reached Ascension Immortal City, intent on advancing his cultivation and learning from the city’s vast protective array.

  • Fang Yu considered whether the Heavenly Dao’s infusions concealed a trap, then resolved to absorb the knowledge and strengthen himself.
  • Fang Yu realized that raising his pill, talisman, array, and artifact skills to the fourth tier could let him advance his Molten Edge Flow Dao Foundation to the Purple Mansion.
  • Fang Yu boarded the White Deer Sect treasure ship and spent the long journey studying his inheritance and sending ordinary mortal true spirits to reincarnate.
  • Fang Yu sorted the remaining fate-patterned true spirits by their abilities and past lives for possible future reincarnation in the Dao of Qi Ingestion.
  • Fang Yu arrived at Ascension Immortal City and admired the fourth-tier grand array surrounding the sprawling city.

Ch. 106Shopping

Fang Yu explored Ascension Immortal City with the guide Jixiang, then rented a third-tier cave abode and reviewed the Heavenly Market catalogs. He began planning for a Fire Element cultivation method and growing natal Law Treasures, while finding no way to buy a fourth-tier inheritance outside the Ascension Immortal Sect.

  • Fang Yu hired Jixiang to guide him through Ascension Immortal City and learned about its districts, cave abodes, and Heavenly Market.
  • Jixiang led Fang Yu through Jun Mountain Tower and the other shops, where he gathered catalogs and confirmed that fourth-tier spiritual items were not openly sold.
  • After more than a month of shopping, Fang Yu paid Jixiang and rented Spirit Yue Residence, a third-tier cave abode.
  • Fang Yu studied the catalogs and considered buying a Fire Element cultivation method and creating growing natal Law Treasures to replace his Spirit Artifacts.
  • Fang Yu found no fourth-tier cultivation-art inheritance or resident fourth-tier Grandmasters in the Heavenly Market, and concluded that such expertise might only be accessible through the Ascension Immortal Sect.

Ch. 107Law Treasure

After acquiring spiritual materials and a third-tier talisman inheritance, Fang Yu spent three years refining his lifebound Law Treasure, the Sun and Moon Startling Wheels. He rejected ordinary cultivation methods and decided to join the Ascension Immortal Sect under a carefully prepared identity to pursue its core and Spirit Transformation inheritances.

  • Fang Yu bought spiritual materials and a third-tier Dao of Talismans inheritance, spending most of the Spirit Stones he had brought from the Autumn Moon Mountain spirit mine.
  • Fang Yu studied the inheritance and refined the Flowing Flame True Fire Sword, the Sun Gold Wheel, and other materials into the Sun and Moon Startling Wheels.
  • Fang Yu tested the wheels' offensive and defensive abilities, then placed them inside the Yuanchen Pearl to nurture them.
  • Fang Yu rejected the ordinary Fire Element cultivation methods available for sale and resolved to join the Ascension Immortal Sect as a newcomer to gain access to its core inheritances.
  • Fang Yu divined that posing as a mortal with a Spirit Root and joining the sect carried no risk, then began planning an unimpeachable identity and a gradual rise through its ranks.

Ch. 108Jiang Yao

Three years later, Fang Yu posed as Jiang Yao, a sixteen-year-old herb gatherer, at the Ascension Immortal Sect’s spirit-root test. After he was accepted for his mid-grade fire spirit root, a child with a heaven spirit root drew the cultivators’ attention, and the chapter ended with them complaining that Xu Junting had taken the child away to claim credit.

  • Fang Yu used his concealed cultivation and Jiang Yao’s identity to pass himself off as a village youth at the spirit-root test.
  • Xu Junting tested Jiang Yao and found he had a mid-grade fire spirit root, earning him a place in the Ascension Immortal Sect.
  • The cultivators warmly befriended Jiang Yao until Wu Youtian revealed a metal-element heaven spirit root and drew their attention away.
  • Xu Junting took Wu Youtian to see Elder Jiang, leaving Qingwu to finish testing the remaining youths.
  • After the tests ended, the cultivators left aboard the ship complained that Xu Junting had abandoned them to claim credit with Elder Jiang.

Ch. 109Entering the Sect

Jiang Yao and Zhang Erhu arrived at the Ascension Immortal Sect, where they were assigned as menial disciples and received their new-disciple supplies. The chapter ended with Jiang Yao paying Steward Jin ten Spirit Stones to ask him a question.

  • Jiang Yao watched Wu Youtian claim a privileged place aboard the ship, while Zhang Erhu vowed to work hard enough to become an inner disciple.
  • The great ship landed at the Ascension Immortal Sect, where Xu Junting and the other outer disciples led the newcomers to the Menial Affairs Hall.
  • Xu Junting took Wu Youtian and three other boys with high-grade Spirit Roots to the inner sect, while Jiang Yao and the other recruits were assigned menial duties.
  • An old cultivator assigned Jiang Yao to the Alchemy Chamber, and he received a Storage Bag filled with supplies and basic cultivation equipment.
  • The Alchemy Chamber steward gave the disciples an hour to choose a Cultivation Method in the Dharma Transmission Hall.
  • Jiang Yao offered Steward Jin all ten of his Spirit Stones, and Jin agreed to hear his question.

Ch. 110True Disciple

Fang Yu chose the Great Daoyan Five Elements Chaos True Explanation as his cultivation method and traveled to the Hundred Herbs Mountain Range to settle in as a menial disciple. He claimed an unoccupied courtyard, provoking a nearby female cultivator who insisted it was already hers.

  • Steward Jin explained that the Great Daoyan Five Elements Chaos True Explanation suited alchemy and praised Ancestor Yunyang, its most esteemed practitioner.
  • Fang Yu studied the method at the Technique Transmission Hall, chose it, and registered his selection with his disciple token.
  • Steward Jin led the new disciples by patrol ship to the Hundred Herbs Mountain Range and explained their lodging and future duties.
  • Fang Yu followed the Spirit Vein up the mountain and found an unoccupied courtyard after searching more than twenty others.
  • A female cultivator confronted Fang Yu and claimed the courtyard, but its restrictions had already activated under his name, so she angrily returned to her own courtyard.

Ch. 111Hundred Herbs

Fang Yu accepted numerous herb-processing missions, studied the Hundred Herbs Hall’s collection, and cultivated with the Great Daoyan Five Elements Chaos True Explanation. After reaching the Fourth Layer of Qi Refining in three months, he concealed his cultivation and set out by flying boat to gather herbs.

  • Fang Yu reviewed the sect missions and exchanges, then accepted over ten thousand long-term herb-processing missions.
  • Fang Yu went to the Hundred Herbs Hall and studied its herb specimens and books through the night.

  • Fang Yu used the Yuanchen Pearl to conceal his cultivation as the Qi Refining First Layer, then flew toward a medicinal garden where dried tangerine peel herbs grew.

Ch. 112Lingzhou

Fang Yu traveled through Xuanzhou and Lingzhou, secretly arranging reincarnations for the true spirits in his sea of consciousness while following a sensation toward a possible opportunity to attain the Purple Mansion. He reached Pure Goodness City and discovered that the Sweet Dew Monastery concealed a great danger, so he left before entering.

  • Fang Yu dried aged tangerine peel as a routine herb-processing task while continuing his cultivation.
  • Fang Yu concealed his heavenly secrets, traveled into Xuanzhou, and sent a true spirit to reincarnate in a household with promising fortune.
  • Over three years, Fang Yu traveled west through several provinces and arranged reincarnations for all the idle true spirits in his sea of consciousness.
  • Fang Yu reached Lingzhou and followed his Phoenix Sets the Plains Ablaze Dao Foundation's sensation across the desert and through a succession of oases.
  • Fang Yu arrived in Pure Goodness City, learned that its residents followed the Sweet Dew Monastery, and found his opportunity within the city.
  • When Fang Yu approached the Sweet Dew Monastery, the Yuanchen Pearl rapidly consumed its stored Primordial Qi, so he sensed great danger and left.

Ch. 113Burning a Finger

A monk at Sweet Dew Monastery burned off her little finger to awaken a bodhi seed, then announced a Dharma assembly where she would offer her body to seek her destined one. Meanwhile, Fang Yu sensed powerful cultivators at the monastery, restored the Yuanchen Pearl, and went to Wu Youtian’s gathering, where he reconnected with Zhang Erhu.

  • The monk at Sweet Dew Monastery burned her little finger before a fallen bodhisattva statue, which produced a bodhi seed that restored her finger and revealed visions to her.
  • The monk ordered the monastery to hold an unrestricted Dharma assembly in one year, where she would offer her body in charity to find her destined one.
  • Fang Yu sensed that Sweet Dew Monastery held Purple Mansion-level power, restored the Primordial Qi in his Yuanchen Pearl, and received an invitation to Wu Youtian’s gathering.
  • Fang Yu disguised his cultivation as Qi Refining Third Layer and went to the gathering, where Fairy Qingwu warned him that pursuing the Dao of Alchemy would be difficult.
  • Fang Yu spotted Zhang Erhu in the middle-stage seating area and asked the maid if he could join him.

Ch. 114Sponsorship

Fang Yu gained thirteen sets of Spirit Gathering Pill materials from Zhang Zhonghu so he could practice alchemy, then attended a gathering where Wu Tianling’s supporters collected contribution points from the other disciples. After learning about the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace, Fang Yu declined Zhang Zhonghu’s invitation to enter because he lacked cultivation and combat skills.

  • Fang Yu learned that Zhang Zhonghu had reached the Qi Refining Middle Stage and received thirteen sets of pill materials in exchange for refining whatever Spirit Gathering Pills he could produce.
  • Wu Tianling arrived with Xu Junting, Wu Kongqing, and other cultivators, and Xu Junting urged the gathered disciples to sponsor Wu Tianling before his Nine-Lock Azure Terrace trial.
  • Fang Yu and Zhang Zhonghu suspected the sponsors’ contribution points would be returned to the sect leaders, but each transferred ten points.
  • Zhang Zhonghu explained that the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace contained valuable spirit medicines, including Gold Jade Lingzhi, which could help disciples reserve a Foundation Establishment Pill.
  • Zhang Zhonghu invited Fang Yu to enter the secret realm with him, but Fang Yu refused because he was not proficient in Law Techniques and was only at the early stage of Qi Refining.

Ch. 115Thousand Blessings

After arranging for Zhang Zhonghu to collect pills in a month, Fang Yu explored Wondrous Goodness City and followed a funeral procession to the Thousand Blessings Pure Land. He discovered a mass grave and a golden Buddhist skeleton bearing a luminous finger bone, but examining it drew him into a strange vision.

  • Fang Yu arranged to refine pills for Zhang Zhonghu and agreed that Zhang Zhonghu would collect them a month later.
  • Fang Yu followed a funeral procession from Wondrous Goodness City to the Thousand Blessings Pure Land, where an elderly man went over a dune and died among the bones below.
  • Fang Yu discovered that the Thousand Blessings Pure Land concealed a vast mass grave and a cavern containing a golden skeleton with a glowing right little finger.
  • Fang Yu examined the finger bone, heard laughter and calls to catch someone, and found himself surrounded by young women dressed as flying apsaras.

Ch. 116Debauchery

Fang Yu endured the Debauched Sarira’s erotic illusion, burned the skeletons around it, and sealed the relic in a wooden box. A month later, he gave Zhang Zhonghu Qi Gathering Pills before Zhang entered seclusion to prepare for the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace secret realm.

  • Fang Yu repeatedly fell under the Debauched Sarira’s illusion when he focused his spiritual sense on it.
  • Fang Yu burned the skeletons and discovered their souls had vanished, then drew the sarira from the cave and sealed it in a wooden box.
  • A month later, Fang Yu gave Zhang Zhonghu nine proper Qi Gathering Pills and four inferior ones from his pill-refining efforts.
  • Fang Yu warned Zhang Zhonghu about the Demon Beasts in the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace, but Zhang said he had to risk entering to overcome his bottleneck.
  • Zhang Zhonghu promised to bring Fang Yu any spirit herbs he found for pill refining, then left to resume his seclusion.

Ch. 117Complexion

Zhang Zhonghu found a Foundation Establishment cultivator’s abandoned Storage Bag and discovered it held a talisman treasure and clues to an inheritance. Meanwhile, Fang Yu struggled to resist the Debauched Sarira, then earned a chance to attend a lecture on the Dao of Alchemy.

  • Zhang Zhonghu found a Storage Bag containing Spirit Stones, two Spirit Artifacts, a powerful fire talisman, and a booklet describing a Foundation Establishment cultivator’s legacy.
  • Zhang Zhonghu identified the fire talisman as a talisman treasure capable of Golden Core-level power and learned he could locate the senior’s cave abode after reaching Foundation Establishment and refining the flying sword.
  • Zhang Zhonghu planned to seek Gold Jade Lingzhi in the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace secret realm and considered using the talisman treasure against Wu Tianling.
  • Fang Yu stopped himself from tempering his mind with the Debauched Sarira again after seeing how haggard he had become, then brought his processed medicinal herbs to Hundred Herbs Hall.
  • Steward Jin gave Fang Yu a place at Jiang Xiasheng’s upcoming Dao of Alchemy lecture, and Fang Yu transferred his newly earned contribution points to thank him.

Ch. 118Jade Liquid

  • Jiang Xiasheng arrived and gave a lecture on the Dao of Alchemy, which Fang Yu listened to and committed to memory.
  • Jiang Xiasheng answered questions from the audience through the following day, while Fang Yu gathered pill formulas and held back questions too advanced for his assumed identity.
  • After the crowd dispersed, True Person Jade Liquid offered Fang Yu first-tier pill commissions, and Fang Yu eagerly accepted without requesting a fee.

Ch. 119Nine Locks

Fang Yu used his pill-refining work for True Person Jade Liquid to secure materials for practicing second-tier pills, then watched the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace Secret Realm open through Zhang Zhonghu. The disciples entered, and Fang Yu began observing Zhang’s descent as a way to scout the realm.

  • Fang Yu refined growing orders of first-tier pills for True Person Jade Liquid and improved his demonstrated success rates.
  • After Fang Yu hinted that he wanted to advance to second-tier pills, True Person Jade Liquid sent him ten batches of materials for practice and tied future practice supplies to his first-tier output.
  • Fang Yu put away the Debauched Sarira and used the Yuanchen Pearl and the heart flame in the peachwood sword to observe Zhang Zhonghu at the secret realm entrance.
  • Fang Yu decided to scout the secret realm through Zhang Zhonghu, whom he considered easier to guide because of his Low-Grade Spirit Root and limited options.
  • The Nine-Lock Secret Realm opened, and Qi Refining Realm disciples entered as Fang Yu began watching Zhang Zhonghu’s descent.

Ch. 120Arrogance

Wu Tianling and his companions slaughtered rival cultivators and collected Gold Jade Lingzhi in the Nine-Lock Azure Terrace secret realm. After Zhang Zhonghu witnessed Wu Tianling kill a Sword Pavilion disciple, Wu Tianling ordered his companions to kill him.

  • Wu Tianling used his Spirit Snake Sword to kill a group of Demon Beasts, then led Xu Junting, Wu Kongqing, Qingwu, and another cultivator toward a second-tier Demon Beast and Gold Jade Lingzhi.
