[Heavenly River Water] Dao Foundation
As for how to determine which extraordinary path suited him, perhaps the speed at which he comprehended the principles of different kinds of Innate Mystic Qi could provide indirect confirmation.
Wang An brought up his panel to check his comprehension of the three kinds of Innate Mystic Qi.
[Innate Greater Yin Moonlight Spirit-Nurturing Wondrous Qi (10%)] [Innate Lesser Yang Sunlight Life-Nurturing Wondrous Qi (1.3%)] [Innate Grand Pure Spirit Water Essence-Nourishing Wondrous Qi (0.1%)]
Judging by the time he had spent comprehending them, it seemed he comprehended attributes such as yin and yang and the stars more quickly. But with so few samples, the data might not prove anything.
He could also seek confirmation from another angle, calculating his fate through his personality, preferences, and the five-element attributes of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches at his birth.
Wang An conducted an experiment on himself, using the Resonant Sound Five Elements from feng shui numerology to calculate his five-element attributes. In the end, he found that he was compatible with [Heavenly River Water], [Great Forest Wood], [Heavenly Fire], [Sword-Edge Metal], and [Sand-Covered Earth].
"Of the five elements, water is the gentlest. It is also the source of life and the pivot of motion and stillness. Forging Mystic Qi and a Dao foundation that fit the imagery of Heavenly River Water would be the simplest and most convenient."
Wang An had always liked grand things such as the sun, moon, and starry rivers. Coupled with the speed at which he comprehended the attributes of yin and yang and the stars, this also indirectly supported his experiment.
Of course, to determine how things actually stood, he would still have to use the speed at which he comprehended Mystic Qi fitting the imagery of Heavenly River Water after gathering and refining it to test his method.
[Heavenly River Water]: It took its name from the image of yin arising at the extreme of yang: "Fire at its height gives rise to vapor, which ascends to the heavens and becomes rain." Its core imagery was the water of the Milky Way, vast and noble. Heavenly River Water had extraordinary qualities: water born of fire, pure, noble, and lofty, nourishing without stagnating. It was not water from an earth vein and was not subdued by ordinary earth.
Thus, constructing a Dao foundation with this imagery required at least two kinds of qi: water qi and star qi.
Of course, he could not combine and refine just two kinds of qi. Heavenly River Water also bore the image of yin arising at the extreme of yang, so he needed at least heaven and earth qi with both yin and yang attributes. The yin qi naturally had to be gathered and refined when the Heavenly River appeared, which basically meant either Greater Yin Qi or Lesser Yin Qi.
The heaven and earth qi chosen for the yang qi also had to be determined according to the nature and imagery of Heavenly River Water. Heavenly River Water had an extreme yang polarity, so ordinary Lesser Yang and Greater Yang were not particularly suitable.
He needed yang qi of the same quality as Extreme Yang to take part in the process.
But Wang An had already tested them. With his present mortal body, he simply could not touch or contain heaven and earth qi with the extreme yin and yang attributes of Extreme Yang and Extreme Yin.
Whenever Wang An tried to draw in either kind, his spiritual perception would sound a warning, as if drawing them into his body would put his life in danger. So he would not consider them for now.
He still needed to return to the imagery of Heavenly River Water to find the corresponding heaven and earth qi.
Heavenly River Water corresponded to things such as the starry sky, the Milky Way, rainwater, and spacecraft. From these, he could also see that the direction of its core imagery all tended toward the stars and the Milky Way.
"Since I can't draw in heaven and earth qi with the Extreme Yang attribute, could I reduce part of that attribute?"
"Or, perhaps, combine qi into a kind of heaven and earth qi that has the Extreme Yang attribute but is also compatible with the human body, like Azure Yang Qi."
"Perhaps I can consider it from the direction of aerospace, spacecraft, and the like."
"Aerospace carries humanity's longing and hopes for the starry sky. When a spacecraft rises at launch and the crowds are awed and cheer, perhaps some special kind of yang qi is born."
This was also why Wang An thought the Heavenly River Water Dao foundation was the easiest to build. Heaven and earth qi such as that of the starry sky and the Milky Way was not restricted by geographical location. As long as he could still see the sky, and there were nights and stars, he could basically gather it.
Apart from that most unusual kind of yang qi, which was somewhat difficult to find, the rest posed no real problem.
Wang An had finished choosing his extraordinary Dao foundation.
"Then how should I construct extraordinary rule runes of my own? How can I comprehend the runes I need from the existing rule-rune systems?"
"Perhaps I can also start with professions corresponding to the imagery of Heavenly River Water. Because of its lofty, expansive qualities and extraordinary opportunities, the corresponding professions are astronaut, astronomer, high-end finance professional, and lawyer; the corresponding fields are aerospace, financial investment, law, and research institutes."
From this, it could be seen that the professions Wang An had previously chosen to take up were more practical and closer to what he needed.
This revealed a disadvantage. Of course, Wang An was only a university student who had yet to graduate, and it would be difficult for him to quickly take up these professions.
So, for now, Wang An could only start with two professions that were relatively easy to take up, hoping to find rule materials suited to him from them.
Astronomer and high-end finance professional were both relatively attainable. The others all required a great deal of time and, to varying degrees, special qualifications.
[Astronomer] [Class change requirements: Spirit attribute above 1.5; core mathematical and scientific foundations and specialized astronomy knowledge both at the mastery stage; 3 Class Change Stones] [High-end finance professional] [Class change requirements: Spirit attribute above 1.5; core financial knowledge and specialized knowledge of an industry both at the mastery stage; 3 Class Change Stones]
These two professions were roughly the same rank as [Qi Refiner]. Like [Scientist] and similar professions, these high-end professions were also enormously difficult to enter.
It could be said that, even among elite scientists in the field, the requirements of 1.5 Spirit and three Class Change Stones stopped most people in their tracks.
These two requirements were nothing to Wang En.
But for the [Astronomer] profession, the core mathematical and scientific foundations required mastery of mathematics, physics, and modern physics; its specialized astronomy knowledge required knowledge of astrophysics, observational astronomy, planetary science, astronomical instruments and computation, and so on. Even at Wang An's speed, mastering them would take at least half a year or so.
The [High-end finance professional] profession required core financial knowledge, corporate finance and valuation, investment studies, accounting and financial analysis, financial markets and products, as well as specialized knowledge of a particular industry. Learning all of this would also take at least four months.
In fact, Wang An's learning speed was already dozens of times that of an ordinary person. But to reach the mastery stage described above, or the top level in the industry, taking half a year was already quite fast.
Although [Astronomer] would not be of much help to Wang An's current business,
becoming a [High-end finance professional] could quickly help Wang An's current company grow.
After all, although his company's current monthly revenue of several million was fairly good for a startup,
its business was too limited, and its ability to withstand risk was relatively weak, which was not conducive to future development.
So taking up [High-end finance professional] would also open a new line of business in financial investment for the company.
