Understanding Illness (III)
Ren Qushun's speech didn't follow a specific order, but generally speaking, it proceeded from head to toe.
After discussing issues such as the brain and blood, he then began to talk about diseases of the internal organs and torso.
"A deviated heart tip, a congenital heart defect: look for the cause in both the wife's and husband's families. The main problem is that the scales in one's heart aren't balanced. Favoring the wife's family leads to trouble with the husband's family."
Su Ziyang's eyes widened when he heard Ren Qushun say this. Su Ziyang knew of a case like this: both sets of parents' families were fine, but the child had congenital heart disease. The woman was extremely difficult and domineering, just like Ren Qushun described—favoring her own family and disliking her husband's family.
If real-life events can correspond to certain theories, then those theories are more valuable.
This is the combination of practice and theory, also known as the famous philosophical theory that theory guides practice and practice provides feedback to update theory.

"My back pain comes from worry; sometimes I get irritated, and I can't help but upset myself."
"Skin sensitive to cold and wind: Lacking in emotion and warmth, like a block of ice. Cold and aloof in nature."
"For children with crooked mouths and slanted eyes: Parents should speak accurately, act steadily, avoid stepping on crooked ground, not listen to evil sounds, and have no evil thoughts. Do not speak falsehoods."
"High blood pressure and tinnitus: These are caused by bottling up anger, which is called 'anger damaging the liver.' You get angry when you see people you don't like or hear things that don't suit your taste."

Glaucoma and cataracts: These conditions arise from focusing on the faults of others instead of introspection. You become agitated and angry at others' shortcomings. This is punishing yourself for the flaws of others.
Frozen shoulder: Taking on too much responsibility and bearing too heavy a burden.
You're meddling in everyone's business; you're meddling too much. Let go, don't meddle in other people's affairs. Everyone has their own destiny; they will enjoy the blessings they are destined for and suffer the consequences of their own actions. You can't bear that burden."
"Children's hand ailment: An ailment inherited from their parents' siblings. Regardless of what others do, one must be a brother to one's siblings, showing brotherly love and respect. One must fulfill the duties of brotherly love."
"Ear problems: You get angry and irritable as soon as someone speaks, and you don't want to listen. This indicates a strong 'wood' element in your personality, and you tend to be argumentative. People with a 'wood' element are prone to toothaches and tinnitus. To improve this, you must not be averse to anyone's speech in the future. If you don't want to listen to others and your ideas don't align with yours, you get angry, which causes tinnitus. The toxins from anger are stored in your meridians; if the meridians are blocked, you'll experience numbness and tingling, and in severe cases, stroke or hemiplegia. Change this habit quickly, or you'll face serious problems."
"A wife shouldn't be too easily angered, because a woman with too much temper and too many ideas is prone to harming her husband. In other words, if she doesn't tolerate others' opinions and gets angry easily, even if her husband doesn't retaliate, he will feel depressed and may even fall ill."
"Women with a Wood-Fire personality type must change. People with a Wood-Fire personality type will either lose their husbands or their children by middle age."
"Mouth rot comes from resentment."
The upper lip complains about what's above it, and the lower lip complains about what's below it. Another issue is speaking inappropriately, committing verbal sins. The tongue represents the fire of the heart.
Children's stomach aches and diarrhea cause parents frustration and resentment.
All the muscle aches and pains in the body are caused by anger and stress related to money. If it's physical pain, it means there's resentment involved.
"If the blood vessels turn bluish, it means that the blood is toxic, originating from the heart, fire, and hatred. When a person is heartbroken and hateful, their blood will be dark, black, and sticky."
Fire can cause the same problem.
There's a feeling of energy surging inside my body. It's from anger. Sincere repentance can help release it.

Most blood disorders in women are caused by resentment. It's all due to a surge of hatred and resentment that leads to blood disorders and irregular menstruation.
Ren Qushun spoke, Su Ziyang kept pouring tea for Ren Qushun.
"Uncle Shun, I've remembered everything you said. I'll put it into practice as much as possible in my future medical practice."
Su Ziyang said with a very respectful smile.
"Hmm, that's fine. It's good that you have this idea; all my talking for so long wasn't in vain. You're a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, and I don't object to acupuncture and herbal medicine. Don't think that just because I'm using these theories to help people, I'm some kind of feudal old-fashioned person. Hahaha."
Ren Qushun explained, then burst into laughter.
"No, no."
Su Ziyang and Fairy Li spoke at the same time.
"Personality influences a person's health; that's undeniable. So my suggestion is that while you're treating patients, you should also verbally advise them to change their temper and adjust their personality. This might be more effective in treating the illness."
Ren Qushun's words are not without reason. It is absolutely true that making people happy during treatment can cure half the disease without medication.
Talk therapy is also a part of treatment. Ren Qushun is an expert in this.
"Some illnesses are not necessarily illnesses. They are causes and effects. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow. The mind is the root of cause and effect. As long as there are attachments in the mind, there are shadows, and that will create cause and effect."
Therefore, the Diamond Sutra says, "One should abide nowhere and yet give rise to the mind."
Therefore, the Sixth Patriarch also wrote this verse.
Bodhi has no tree.
Even a bright mirror is not a stand.
Originally there was nothing.
Where does the dust settle?
Su Ziyang and Fairy Li originally thought that this Ren Qushun, Uncle Shun, was just someone who had mastered some special methods of healing.
But now that Ren Qushun has uttered these two sentences, Su Ziyang understands that this person is a highly accomplished master who has attained true enlightenment, at least having achieved understanding and awareness of one's true nature.
Out of respect, Su Ziyang stood up and offered Ren Qushun a cup of tea, Ren Qushun without hesitation and drank.
