Cinnamon and Arisaema Powder
Mr. Mengfei returned as soon as he said he would, Su Ziyang assumed that Mr. Mengfei had gone to see his teacher's wife. For this, the Eight Trigrams Su Ziyang got kicked twice more.
Fairy Li has been incredibly busy lately, constantly going out to help people with event planning and interior design...
Su Ziyang went out to see patients as usual, and it was time for Liu Sen to come for a follow-up visit.
When Liu Sen came in, he was in much better spirits than last time.
Su Ziyang asked him to sit down, and Liu Sen said, "Doctor, after taking your medicine last time, my dizziness has subsided, my head feels much more comfortable, and I feel much more relaxed overall. But I still can't hear in this ear, and I have a crackling tinnitus that's really bothering me."
Upon examining Liu Sen's pulse again, Su Ziyang discovered that it was no longer a wiry pulse; the overall pulse pattern was weaker compared to the distinctly wiry pulse of the previous examination.
However, the pulse at both cun positions is slightly weak, while the pulse at the guan and chi positions is relatively weak.
If it floats, it indicates the presence of wind and symptoms of external pathogens.
In addition, considering what Liu Sen had said before, that he felt his back was injured by the wind and then given a lot of cold-natured injections, Su Ziyang concluded that this was the cause of his current condition.
It is called wind-induced deafness.
This method is described in the book "Renzhai's Direct Guidance" with a prescription called Cinnamon and Arisaema Powder, which is specifically used to treat this disease. Su Ziyang made a good diagnosis and prescribed the prescription directly.
12g of cinnamon
12g of Ligusticum chuanxiong
Angelica sinensis 12g
Asarum 12g
12g of pure calamus
Tribulus terrestris (stir-fried, pounded to remove thorns) 12g
12g of Akebia quinata
12g of costus root
Ephedra (without nodes) 12g
12g of licorice
Arisaema heterophyllum (cracked) 12g
12 grams each of Angelica dahurica root tips
20g of perilla leaves
The above-mentioned herbs are ground into powder, and each dose is 9 grams.
Use 500 ml of water to decoct the medicine, then add 2 scallions, 5 perilla leaves, and 5 slices of ginger. Take the decoction on an empty stomach.
Because of the medicines he had been preparing over the past few days, Su Ziyang had gained some understanding of the medicines in this pharmacy.
Although perilla leaves are processed medicinal slices, they are still individual leaves.
So Su Ziyang prescribed 20g of perilla leaves, and the bystanders added perilla leaves to it themselves.
"Our pharmacy will grind this prescription into powder for you. When decocting the medicine, take 9g of the powder each time, add scallions, perilla leaves, ginger..."
Su Ziyang carefully explained everything again, afraid that Liu Sen might miss some important information because of his hearing problems. This was because there were several poisonous ingredients in the prescription, and Su Ziyang had to make sure he understood them perfectly!
Liu Sen was also a little afraid that he wouldn't remember, so he took out his phone, opened the notes app, and carefully wrote down what Su Ziyang had said.
Then Su Ziyang took a look again, and Su Ziyang found nothing wrong before letting Liu Sen go downstairs to get the medicine.
After recording Liu Sen's medical record, Su Ziyang breathed a sigh of relief.
Su Ziyang's choice of this formula is reasonable. The formula is called Cinnamon and Arisaema Powder, with cinnamon as the chief ingredient.
In his book "Explanation of the Classic of Materia Medica", Ye Tianshi described cinnamon as follows. "It has a very hot nature, possessing the fire energy of the true yang of heaven, entering the Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin, and replenishing the true yang."
Cinnamon can replenish vital energy, which perfectly explains Liu Sen's initial symptom of lower back pain after being exposed to wind.
Arisaema is a poisonous herb. Huang Yuanyu, in his book Jade Catalpa Explanation of Medicinals *, describes Arisaema as follows:
It has a pungent taste and warm properties, and enters the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin and the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming. It lowers Qi, promotes blood circulation, resolves stagnation, and reduces swelling.
Arisaema is pungent and has a strong effect in clearing heat and opening up the channels. It can treat stomach upset, lung obstruction, chest and diaphragm fullness, phlegm accumulation, and dizziness.
In his "Leigong's Explanation of Processing and Medicinal Properties", Li Zhongzi said that Arisaema is specifically for treating wind-phlegm, hence it is included in both meridians.
Since it was caused by the wind, using Arisaema makes sense.
Angelica sinensis and Ligusticum chuanxiong are used to promote blood circulation. As the saying goes, to treat wind, first treat the blood, and when the blood flows smoothly, the wind will naturally disappear. Ligusticum chuanxiong can also guide the medicine to the head. The book "Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica" states that Ligusticum chuanxiong is the main treatment for stroke affecting the brain.
In his book "Leigong's Explanation of Processing and Medicinal Properties," Li Zhongzi states that it can: ascend to the head and horns, drawing in the clear yang qi to relieve pain; descend to the blood sea, nourishing the newly generated blood to regulate menstruation.
Therefore, chuanxiong is generally an indispensable ingredient in medicines for treating headaches.
Among them, Asarum, Acorus calamus, Tribulus terrestris (stir-fried, pounded to remove thorns), Akebia quinata, and Aucklandia lappa all have the effect of opening the orifices.
Ephedra helps these herbs disperse wind-evil. Licorice is used to harmonize the effects of the other herbs.
Angelica dahurica, a herb that can penetrate the skin and hair, is an indispensable medicine for dispelling pathogenic wind.
Angelica dahurica also has a transdermal effect, so it can be added appropriately to some external medicine formulas to allow the medicine to penetrate the skin.
Scallion whites, perilla leaves, and ginger are all used as medicinal guides.
Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica
It can be used to make soup, and is mainly used for typhoid fever, chills and fever, sweating, stroke, and facial swelling.
Perilla leaves also have the effect of dispelling cold and relieving stagnation, similar to the effect of ephedra. However, perilla has superior medicinal effects, so it is used here as a medicinal guide.
Ginger has the effect of protecting the stomach and dispelling cold.
As usual, I analyzed the prescription, combined it with the pulse and symptoms, and recorded my thoughts for future reference.
I stretched my wrists, sat down to rest for a while, and then the phone rang.
The call came from a senior classmate of Su Ziyang's who he had a good relationship with during his graduate studies. The person's name was Liu Hua.
This person had a very good relationship with Su Ziyang, and was the only close friend among the many members of the sect.
"Brother, what's wrong?"
Although we all got busy and lost touch after graduation and starting work, our friendship remained unchanged.
As the old saying goes, there are four iron pillars in life.
We studied together, fought together, spent time in jail together, and even frequented brothels together.
The bond between classmates is the deepest.
"Haha, what are you busy with, bro?" Liu Hua's voice on the phone still carried the same hearty laugh as it had two years ago.
"Going to work, bro. Your ER's not busy lately, are they?"
After graduating, Liu Hua returned to her hometown to work in the emergency department of the local Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, where she was extremely busy.
"I'm on vacation. Hey bro, I want to talk to you about something. What do you think? If you think it's okay, let's do it."
When they were in school, and also in their teacher's group, Su Ziyang would go directly to Liu Hua to discuss things, and Liu Hua would also like to talk to Su Ziyang about things.
"Go ahead, bro, what's up?" Su Ziyang asked with a smile.
"It's been almost two years since graduation. The other day, our senior sister said she wanted to get together. Our advisor happened to be on vacation, so she asked me to organize it. Do you think it's okay? If you say no, or it's not fun, then forget it! Just say you're busy with work."
When we were students, our classmates and teachers would gather twice a year. One gathering usually took place around Teacher's Day, and the other around the Chinese New Year holiday.
However, those who didn't attend were all students still studying at the school. As for the graduation reunion, Su Ziyang had never attended one and didn't know if previous graduates had one.
"Bro, can we even get everyone together? It'll probably be eighteen or nineteen people. And there are some with bad tempers, the really eccentric ones. Will they even be able to come?"
Su Ziyang's main concern was this: different kinds of rice feed different kinds of people, and even classmates may not necessarily get along, let alone people with strange tempers.
"It's better if you don't come. If you do agree, I'll contact someone! The senior student has already spoken to the advisor."
Upon hearing this, Liu Hua realized that Su Ziyang had the time and was interested, and he knew what to do.
"Okay. You can arrange it, bro."
Su Ziyang smiled and hung up the phone.
