Moxibustion
Su Ziyang dared not approach to look, nor dared to make a sound, for fear of disturbing Fairy Li.
After Fairy Li finished everything, Su Ziyang took a closer look at the talismans. Although he didn't recognize them, Su Ziyang could still tell that Fairy Li's aura was extremely powerful.
"Hey Old Li, I never see you practicing your exercises, what's wrong with you...?"
Su Ziyang sensed the flowing energy on the talisman and exclaimed in surprise.
"It's a secret. Okay, okay. Stop looking. Go take a shower, let's go out for something to eat, I'm tired and don't want to cook!"
The two went out and ate a quick bite before returning home to rest.
That evening, Su Ziyang suddenly received a call from his cousin.
Su Ziyang's cousin from his aunt's side.
"Hey, Ziyang."
My cousin called, and he was quite polite.
"Brother, what's wrong?" His cousin was much older than Su Ziyang and had been very good to Su Ziyang, but Su Ziyang lost touch with him after going to university.
"I have a question for you."
My cousin said.
"These health and wellness centers are really popular lately. Your sister-in-law is thinking of opening a moxibustion clinic, so she's asking if this industry is viable. She doesn't want it to go wrong; is it even a good business?"
After thinking for a moment, Su Ziyang said, "It's easy to do, but you need to have the skills, bro. It's fine if you're just bluffing people with health and moxibustion, but you still need to have some technical skills."
"Hey. As for the technique, it's not a problem. It's just that your sister-in-law has an auntie, an old lady, they call her the 'fire-burning woman.' She specializes in moxibustion. Your sister-in-law is learning from her now."
"Haha, no wonder I was wondering why my sister-in-law wanted to open a moxibustion clinic. Sure, as long as the technique is good, there won't be any problems."
Su Ziyang reassured his cousin.
"Haha, what I was thinking was that if your sister-in-law can't manage, she can go and learn from you. After all, you're a professional. It's just that when we're helping people with health maintenance, it doesn't matter if it works or not, we shouldn't ruin it for them."
Actually, what my cousin said wasn't wrong at all. After all, whether you're a doctor or someone who runs a health spa, you should first ensure you don't make mistakes, and then talk about curing the disease.
There's a saying that goes, "Not harming others is saving others."
For example, if someone comes in with a heat syndrome, it's not right to prescribe warming yang medicine. Similarly, it's not right to prescribe cooling medicine if someone comes in with a cold syndrome.
Moreover, if a condition cannot be cured or cannot be understood, we recommend that the patient seek treatment from a more skilled doctor. This is not an attempt to shirk responsibility, but rather to avoid delaying the patient's treatment and their condition.
"Haha, bro. It's fine for my sister-in-law to learn this from me. But I'm not home, so how can she learn?"
Su Ziyang smiled. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but he felt he couldn't teach her because of the distance.
"Hey. I don't expect him to become a doctor like you. Just give him some general advice."
"Okay. I'll get ready and see how to make this. I'll send it to you on WeChat later, bro."
"Okay, okay. Thanks, brother. Come back, let's sit down and have a drink."
Okay.
When it comes to moxibustion, Su Ziyang really needs to do some research.
When Yang Tianzheng taught me acupuncture before, he briefly mentioned some knowledge about moxibustion.
Moxibustion refers to the application of moxa wool or moxa rolls directly or indirectly to the surface of the human body after being lit, in order to stimulate the body's Qi (vital energy).
This will achieve the goal of curing the disease.
Moxibustion helps to strengthen Yang energy.
Historically, there is a book specifically about moxibustion called "Bian Que's Heart Book," written by Dou Cai of the Song Dynasty.
While it's possible that this guy exaggerated slightly, there are still many points worth learning from.
For example, one sentence in the book says, "If the yang essence is strong, one can live for a thousand years; if the yin energy is strong, one will surely die or be injured."
This statement is absolutely correct. We briefly touched on some knowledge about cultivation before, specifically the practice of refining yin to assist yang.
In conclusion, sufficient Yang energy is fundamental to human bodily functions.
If you find this book a little difficult, there is another book called "Rope Moxibustion," which is also very good and I recommend reading it.
When it comes to moxibustion and acupuncture, as mentioned earlier, you must first know what can and cannot be done, and understand the contraindications, before you can proceed.
The contraindications for moxibustion can be mainly divided into three categories: contraindicated areas, contraindicated diseases, and contraindicated groups of people.
Moxibustion can be used to treat cold-related illnesses. Clinically, it is often used to treat various surgical, internal medicine, and gynecological diseases caused by cold and dampness, such as frozen shoulder, lower back pain, dysmenorrhea, stomach pain, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Moxibustion also has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. Clinically, it is often used to treat diseases caused by stagnation of qi and blood, such as dysmenorrhea and irregular menstruation. The contraindications of moxibustion mainly include the following.
First, understand the contraindications for moxibustion.
Direct moxibustion should not be used on the face to prevent scarring and affecting appearance.
Scarring Moxibustion should not be used on joints to prevent suppuration, ulceration, and impaired healing.
In addition, moxibustion should not be applied to areas such as major arteries, the heart, veins, potential tendons, the lumbosacral region, lower abdomen, nipples, genitals, and glans of pregnant women.
The above is just a brief overview. If alternative methods are used, such as moxibustion with moxa rolls or indirect moxibustion, some areas can be treated with warm moxibustion. In case of acute or critical illness, one should be flexible and act according to the circumstances, without being too rigid.
Direct moxibustion involves applying moxa wool to the acupoint with garlic juice, petroleum jelly, or similar substances, and then igniting it directly. This method is more likely to leave scars.
However, in some specific conditions, this type of Scar Moxibustion is often used to stimulate acupoints to achieve certain clinical therapeutic effects.
The second point regarding contraindications for moxibustion:
Moxibustion primarily uses heat stimulation to treat diseases. Therefore, it is generally not suitable for treating exogenous febrile diseases, yin deficiency, internal heat, or excess heat syndromes.
In addition, moxibustion is not suitable for those suffering from infectious diseases, high fever, coma, convulsions, or extreme exhaustion, who are emaciated and in a critical state of cachexia, and who have no ability to regulate themselves.
Moxibustion uses the power of heat, and if there is excessive heat in the body, it can easily exacerbate the problem, making it not only ineffective in curing the illness but also potentially causing further illness.
The third point concerns the prohibited groups:
Moxibustion should be used with caution in individuals who are fasting, overworked, overly full, overly hungry, drunk, extremely thirsty, greatly frightened, extremely fearful, extremely angry, extremely fatigued, or who have a fear of moxibustion.
Furthermore, moxibustion should be performed under the guidance of a professional. Do not use it on your own to avoid misuse or improper operation.
The female patient with persistent lochia that Su Ziyang treated before had caused it by misusing moxibustion, so this point should not be overlooked.
