Doctor Zhou's Bloodletting
After introducing the soup to Fairy Li, Liuzi then introduced Fairy Li to the other dishes.
"This is shredded pork with sweet bean sauce... do it this way, do it this way..."
"This is fried fresh mushrooms..."
How to coat the dough with batter, how to fry it until crispy and not greasy, and how to make the dipping sauce.
This is twice-cooked pork!
Twice-cooked pork, why is it called twice-cooked pork, how is it cooked, how is it prepared...?
Liuzi not only cooks well, but he also explains to Fairy Li in exceptional detail how each dish is made, its origin, how it's prepared, and any special considerations.
Over the course of the meal, not only did Fairy Li listen attentively, but Su Ziyang also felt that he was almost able to cook those dishes.
On the way back, Su Ziyang drove while Fairy Li sat lazily in the passenger seat. "Xiao Xiao Su, did you hear what Sister Liuzi told you just now?"
"I heard it."
Su Ziyang kept looking at the road while chatting casually with Fairy Li.
"Oh my, her cooking is so delicious! Since you heard about it, could you make it for me when you get back? I really want to eat that shredded pork with sweet bean sauce."
Fairy Li looked at Su Ziyang with shining eyes.
Su Ziyang glared at Fairy Li: "Big sister, didn't you say you were going to learn how to cook for someone? You even said you were determined to learn. How did you end up confusing me like this?"
"Hehe, I was so busy eating lunch that I didn't remember it. What she said was too difficult, so complicated. You're so smart, you must have remembered it."
Fairy Li chuckled and acted spoiled, while Su Ziyang sighed, "I was so busy eating that I didn't remember."
"It's alright. I have a recording here. Listen to it a few times, especially the part about shredded pork with sweet bean sauce."
Then Su Ziyang watched in shock as Fairy Li took out an electronic voice recorder from the small pouch on her chest.
"No, ma'am. Why are you carrying this thing around?"
Su Ziyang felt a chill run down his spine.
"Because I guessed she might not be able to hear it, I turned on the recorder when I sat down at the table. I hope Sister Liuzi won't mind me recording her, hehehe!"
Fairy Li handed the recorder to Su Ziyang and told Su Ziyang to listen to it. Su Ziyang watched as Fairy Li got out of the car and went back to her room to lie down before he realized what had happened.
"Hey, you've already recorded it. Just listen to it yourself."
Su Ziyang chased her into the house and joked with Fairy Li. Fairy Li said very seriously, "I just want to eat a plate of shredded pork with sweet bean sauce. Can't you just give it to me? Susu, don't you love me anymore?"
"Okay, okay, I'll go make it for you..."
Fairy Li's ultimate move—a combination of coquetry, cuteness, and a counterattack—was executed with remarkable efficiency and decisiveness.
However, this time Fairy Li miscalculated.
Su Ziyang inherited his mother's terrible cooking genes, after five consecutive plates of shredded pork with sweet bean sauce that even dogs wouldn't eat.
Fairy Li couldn't sit still any longer.
"Stop! Su Ziyang, I won't allow you to waste food like this. If I'd known you were so bad at cooking, I shouldn't have expected you to do it. I'm so angry!!!"
Pork isn't cheap either; it's not that Fairy Li is worried about the money, but rather about the cost of food.
"What should I do then? I'll just eat it myself."
Su Ziyang looked at the meat, reluctant to throw it away, but after taking a bite, he found it really hard to swallow.
It's either cloyingly sweet or nauseatingly salty.
"Go away, get out! I can do it myself!"
Then, to Su Ziyang's utter astonishment, Fairy Li served up a perfect plate of shredded pork with sweet bean sauce.
"You know how to do it, so why are you making me do it!"
Su Ziyang took a bite and found that although it wasn't as sweet as the ones made by Sister Liuzi, it was still very delicious.
"It's nothing, I'll eat it myself. You, get out of here!"
Fairy Li waved to Su Ziyang, Su Ziyang nodded and went to work.
As Su Ziyang walked down to the first floor and entered, he heard groans and cries from the innermost room. Needless to say, it was Doctor Zhou drawing blood from someone again.
This Doctor Zhou is a master of bloodletting, but Su Ziyang doesn't quite agree with using bloodletting for every illness.
After all, blood is the essence of the human body; it is said that qi nourishes blood, and blood generates qi.
Blood is extremely important.
Su Ziyang said that Doctor Zhou was a master of bloodletting because Doctor Zhou was very good at finding the bloodletting points. Usually, he could draw blood immediately after inserting the needle, and the bleeding would stop as soon as it changed.
This one method has cured many patients suffering from pain.
Su Ziyang wasn't too busy in the afternoon, and since he figured he might as well be idling around while beating the child on a rainy day, he walked to the door of Doctor Zhou's clinic and looked inside.
Sure enough, a kid who looked about eighteen or nineteen years old was lying on the bed whimpering.
"Hey, you're a real man, just bear with it. If it hurts, just yell. Don't put pressure on yourself. The louder you yell, the faster the illness will heal."
Su Ziyang examined the bloodletting needle in Doctor Zhou's hand carefully.
Upon closer inspection, something seems off.
After Su Ziyang quietly approached, he discovered that it wasn't a lancet for bloodletting at all.
Doctor Zhou was holding something that resembled the tip of a spear, like a red-tasseled spear.
Upon closer inspection, Su Ziyang noticed that it even had a handle at the back; it was practically a miniature version of a red-tasseled spear.
"Doctor Zhou, are you busy?"
Su Ziyang greeted him, and Doctor Zhou was very polite to Su Ziyang as well. "Oh, Doctor Su! Come, come, aren't you busy right now? What brings you to my room? Have a seat!"
"It's alright, I won't sit down. You go about your business, I'll observe and learn!"
Su Ziyang clasped his hands in a fist salute to Doctor Zhou, chuckled, and then continued to stand aside watching Doctor Zhou draw blood from the young man.
Currently, only one area is treated, next to the shoulder blade, where a suction cup is attached to draw out the stagnant blood.
Su Ziyang examined the approximate acupoint at this location; it seemed to be the Shenzhu acupoint.
Su Ziyang had seen this Doctor Zhou perform bloodletting before, and each time the blood would spurt out.
But this time it was completely different. Su Ziyang looked at the situation inside the Shenzhu acupoint jar. On the cross-shaped wound, there was only a little bit of something resembling breath, and no blood appeared.
"They've updated their techniques?"
Su Ziyang didn't dare say those words aloud; he just stood silently to the side and watched.
Seeing that Su Ziyang didn't sit down, Doctor Zhou Su Ziyang stopped being polite and turned to carefully examine the young man's body.
Su Ziyang watched carefully as Doctor Zhou massaged and groped his waist.
Finally, it stopped at the Yaoyangguan point. After pressing it with its hand, it took the miniature "red-tasseled spear" bloodletting needle in its hand and plunged it into the Yaoyangguan point with a snap.
Two needles left a cross-shaped wound, but there was still no bleeding. Doctor Zhou quickly took out a sterilized trachea and pulled it out of the acupoint.
He pulled with tremendous force, but still no blood flowed...
"Why!..."
Doctor Zhou was stunned.
