Losing money can avert disaster.

Speaking of karmic retribution and the idea of losing money to avoid disaster, let me explain the underlying principles and concepts of the I Ching.

The saying goes that ordinary people use things daily without realizing it, and there's a saying that losing money can avert disaster. Is there any truth to this?

Yes, there are.

In the traditional relationships between people and between people and things, the ancients summarized them into six types, also known as the six kinship relationships.

Those who have studied ancient numerology and fortune-telling might understand this point.

The six relatives are: oneself, brothers, wife/wealth, official/ghost, parents, and children/grandchildren.

The six relatives are defined according to the attributes of the Five Elements generation and restraint. Those with the same attribute as oneself are brothers; those one restrains are wives and wealth; those that restrain oneself are officials and ghosts; those one gives birth to are children and grandchildren; and those that give birth to oneself are parents.

For example.

Let's take someone whose attribute is wood as an example.

Therefore, those that share the same wood element are brothers.

Those with the fire element are descendants.

The water element represents the parents.

Those with the metal element are considered "official ghosts".

The element of Earth represents wife and wealth.

These are the six kinship relationships.

Anything that controls or restrains oneself is considered an official or ghost, meaning something that harms or restrains one.

The things I control, the things I can manage, are my wife and wealth.

So let's break down the logic here.

I am wood, and because metal overcomes wood, metal is the official ghost.

Since wood controls earth, earth represents wife and wealth.

So, Earth generates Metal, meaning that Wife/Wealth generates Official/Ghost.

Therefore, the principle is self-evident, and it also explains why losing money can avert disaster.

Because when the wife's wealth is strong, it will generate the official ghost, and when the official ghost's power is strong, the power to restrain oneself will naturally become stronger.

However, once the wife/wealth element is weak, the power of the official/ghost element is not so strong. This is the underlying principle of Yi Jing (Book of Changes) regarding avoiding disaster by losing money.

To give another example, why are most mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships not so harmonious? Of course, this is just a general observation, referring to the majority. Those relationships are genuinely good, so please don't argue.

Let's take the wood element as an example again.

If wood represents oneself, then one's wife and wealth still represent earth.

In other words, Wood is a man, and his wife is Earth.

And the mother of wood is water, because water nourishes wood.

Therefore, it is natural to conclude that water and soil are incompatible.

How can two conflicting attributes be comfortable together? So the likelihood of discomfort is still higher.

Alright, alright, enough of this digression, let's get back to Ziyang.

The next day was another regular outpatient day. Su Ziyang changed his clothes and sat in the consultation room.

Around noon, a group of people entered through the door.

Why do we say "a group of people"? Because there were many people.

There must have been four or five, men and women, young and old.

Most importantly, there was a person being pushed in a wheelchair in front of them. This person looked to be around fifty years old and was very thin.

And one characteristic is that his hands tremble uncontrollably.

"Doctor, hello. We've come from out of town, having heard so much about this Daoist Medicine Clinic."

The woman pushing the wheelchair said softly.

Hello, hello.

Su Ziyang quickly moved the chair next to the examination table to make it easier for the person to push the wheelchair next to the examination table.

The woman pushed the wheelchair next to Su Ziyang. Su Ziyang looked at the man's trembling arm for a moment, then asked softly, "Your arm is shaking?"

"Right."

The man in the wheelchair was clearly in pain; his hands seemed to tremble even more noticeably when he became agitated.

"How did you get this hand injured?"

Su Ziyang took a closer look and found that the man's hands, wrists, and arms were covered with black spots, some of which were bruised, as if he had been beaten.

"It was from acupuncture."

"That's what the woman pushing the wheelchair said helplessly."

"We get acupuncture at that... Traditional Chinese Medicine hospital, twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. It's so painful. The point is, even if it's painful, it's okay if it works. But it doesn't work! Look at how badly they do it!"

The woman pointed to the arm of the man in the wheelchair.

"Forehead..."

Su Ziyang didn't know what to say. After thinking for a moment, he nodded and changed the subject. "Is this Parkinson's?"

After Su Ziyang finished speaking, he felt something was wrong. Parkinson's shouldn't cause hand tremors, and this person's appearance and way of speaking were also different from those of someone with Parkinson's.

Parkinson's disease initially manifests as tremors in one hand or leg. The tremors are severe when the patient is at rest, but not when moving or holding objects. The tremors worsen under conditions of joy, excitement, or stress.

And it doesn't shake while sleeping.

The most obvious and common sign is that one hand shakes as if rolling a ball.

That is, like making a round shape with your phone.

If the condition continues to progress, then gradually the other hand or the other leg will also begin to tremble.

Finally, both hands or both legs will shake.

Besides the most obvious tremor symptom, another manifestation of Parkinson's disease is a "mask-like face."

It means having little expression, no smile, a stiff facial expression, and blinking less often; this is called a "mask-like face."

Instead, the body's overall movements become very sluggish. Walking becomes slow and dragging, the feet feel stuck, the legs feel heavy, the stride becomes smaller, and the arm swings become small or even non-existent.

Fine motor skills such as washing up, getting dressed, and buttoning buttons become clumsy.

The handwriting also becomes slower and smaller, a condition known as "micrographia"...

In short, to diagnose Parkinson's disease, one is based on symptoms, and the other is to conduct laboratory tests, such as blood tests and cerebrospinal fluid tests.

Routine blood and cerebrospinal fluid tests are usually normal, but occasionally a decrease in homovanillic acid (HVA) levels in the cerebrospinal fluid may be observed.

Then there are imaging examinations, such as CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.

"Yes, the hospital diagnosed us with Parkinson's, saying that our case is atypical. Western medicine couldn't help, so we went to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, who used herbal decoctions and acupuncture at the same time."

Su Ziyang listened to the woman pushing the wheelchair and waved his hand, signaling her to stop talking.

Then he said to the man in the wheelchair, "Blink, let me see."

The man blinked in perfect agreement.

"Unbutton this wheelchair."

There was a button-down bag on the man's wheelchair. Su Ziyang asked him to unbutton it, but the man's hands were shaking, so he didn't unbutton it properly.

But through this small action, Su Ziyang realized that the person wasn't sick, at least not mentally.

"Doctor, he can't do it. His hands are shaking."

Men are very stubborn. When Su Ziyang asked him to unbutton his clothes, he really tried to do it seriously. And because he was not doing it well, he was a little excited, and his hands trembled even more.

The woman behind him couldn't stand it anymore and quickly said something like that.

"Okay, okay. No need to solve it anymore, I understand."

Su Ziyang said "I understand" and then reached out to take his pulse.

Because the man's hands were trembling, Su Ziyang didn't have him place his hands on the pulse diagnosis kit as usual, but instead had him place his hands on his lap. Then he stood up and gently squeezed the man's wrist.
