Spending the Night
Following these people always helps me learn something new.
This was a conclusion Su Ziyang had reached long ago.
This conclusion has now been verified once again.
This is the benefit of learning from a master, through both words and deeds.
The saying goes, "Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles, and traveling ten thousand miles is not as good as learning from a master."
Qi Chu had previously mentioned that once they entered the mountains, they would only be able to eat vegetarian food.
However, this rule only applies to Su Ziyang and his group; Bones is not included in this category.
Qi Chu fed the Bones a bag of braised beef.
The group ate vegetable and rice porridge, and their staple food was compressed biscuits.
The vegetables were dried vegetable packets I bought, and the rice was bought from an old lady.
Qi Chu is a very skilled cook; even with such simple ingredients as white rice porridge, Qi Chu makes it incredibly fragrant and delicious.
After a quick lunch and a short rest, the group continued their journey deeper into the forest.
Even now, Su Ziyang still doesn't know what Qi Chu is leading them to find.
Qi Chu said, "This thing can't be mentioned. If it's revealed, it won't work anymore, and we'll never find it again."
It wasn't until evening that Qi Chu found a place to set up camp.
The four of them brought two tents.
Qi Chu and Mr. Mengfei are one, and Su Ziyang and Fairy Li are another.
The tent is thickened and moisture-proof, and it's very warm and comfortable to lie in. Because the temperature difference between day and night in the mountains is quite large, it can be very hot during the day, but the temperature may drop sharply at night.
Therefore, keeping warm is extremely important.
After setting up the tent, Qi Chu started a fire to cook.
This time, Qi Chu cleared out an open space around the house, and to keep warm, Qi Chu no longer used the smokeless stove.
Instead, they lit an open fire.
In the wilderness at night, the light of a fire always gives people a sense of security.
The four men and their dog sat around the fire, drinking porridge, eating dry rations, and chatting.
"Mengfei, where did you find that knife?"
Qi Chu took a couple of sips of porridge and asked.
"Well, I can't say. Anyway, it's been returned to its rightful owner. We've been walking for a while, and now you suddenly remember to ask about this."
These people are extremely good at speaking in riddles, but fortunately Su Ziyang is used to it, because even Su Ziyang bedmate often speaks in riddles with Su Ziyang.
"Hey, it's not that I didn't ask, I just couldn't hold it in. The main thing is, I tried all sorts of arithmetic to find him, but the direction kept changing, or it was just an empty hexagram. Now that you've found him, it would be a lie to say I'm not curious!"
Qi Chu ate a small piece of pickled mustard greens and said with a smile.
"Hmm. It's good that you can't figure it out. It would be bad if you could. Just don't ask."
"If you don't want to ask, then don't ask."
Mr. Mengfei was speaking in riddles, and Qi Chu became arrogant, lowering his head and starting to gulp down his porridge, no longer speaking.
Su Ziyang had already eaten his fill, so he hugged the Bones in his arms and tickled Bones.
Bones lay on the ground, enjoying himself, his belly exposed, letting Su Ziyang tickle him all over.
While scratching the dog, Su Ziyang discovered that it was an unusual dog, as it didn't have a single flea on it.
Because in rural areas, dogs are rarely treated for pests like in cities; they are usually left to grow freely.
So even the cleanest dog will have some fleas.
But there wasn't a single flea on the Bones. Su Ziyang even turned on a flashlight to search, which drew laughter from Qi Chu: "It couldn't possibly have fleas or anything like that. This guy is very clean."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Qi Chu them to get some rest, as they would have to get up early the next day to continue their journey, so getting some rest was essential.
As Su Ziyang and Fairy Li were heading back to their tent, they heard Qi Chu say, "You two! You can't do anything else tonight. Don't disturb the mountain god!"
"Forehead..."
Su Ziyang paused for a moment, unsure of what to say in response.
Seeing that Su Ziyang was still standing there in a daze, Fairy Li Su Ziyang him into the tent.
In a place like this, it's difficult for Su Ziyang and the others to fall asleep soundly.
Since they were all practitioners, they would wake up at the slightest noise in the middle of the night.
Hearing the roar of the Bones, Su Ziyang was the first to rush out of the tent.
Su Ziyang was stunned by the sight before him.
A golden dragon hovered over the spot where the group had just eaten, eyeing their tent.
Meanwhile, Bones was standing near Qi Chu and Mr. Mengfei's tent, crouching low and barking wildly at the sky.
At this moment, everyone rushed out of the tent. When Mr. Mengfei came out of the tent and saw the scene in front of him, he was also stunned.
"Dragon???"
If you go out and ask someone, "Have you ever seen a dragon?"
This guy would definitely say, "I've not only seen dragons, I've also been served by a dragon."
But this isn't a one-stop service.
This thing looks exactly like the dragon in the painting, except it's not as big as the legend says.
Moreover, this golden dragon was constantly flashing with golden light.
It's a dragon that glows in the dark...
According to legend, the dragon is a symbol of good fortune, and one should be excited to see one.
But looking at the dragon less than a hundred meters away from him, Su Ziyang couldn't see anything auspicious about it.
So Su Ziyang quickly shielded Li Xian behind him.
What is that?
Qi Chu was stunned for a moment, and was also a little confused.
"It looks like a dragon..."
Su Ziyang said in a low voice.
"Impossible."
Mr. Mengfei was the first to refute Su Ziyang's statement.
Su Ziyang and the others dared not make a move, and simply looked up at the "golden dragon" floating in the sky.
The "golden dragon" would occasionally twist its body in the air, then stare intently at the group of people.
Nearly half an hour later, everyone's necks were sore.
The "golden dragon" still shows no sign of leaving.
"I think I remember what this thing is now."
Their minds were racing. Qi Chu often went into the mountains to collect herbs, and he had heard of many things even if he had never seen them.
Therefore, Qi Chu was the first to come up with a solution.
"You should try it. I might not be able to resist and I'll hit this thing in a minute."
Mr. Mengfei had never seen this thing before, and he was somewhat anxious.
"I'll give it a try. Don't act impulsively. If it doesn't work, then using violence isn't out of the question."
Qi Chu finished speaking in a low voice, then stood still, cleared his throat, and shouted at the "golden dragon," "Feifei! I know you, hurry up and leave! Feifei!!!"
"Feifei?"
Su Ziyang and his companions were somewhat confused. This thing was called Feifei?
It's kind of cute too~
However, the "golden dragon's" reaction proved that Qi Chu's approach was correct.
After Qi Chu shouted twice, the golden dragon's light instantly dissipated. The golden dragon shook its head, then turned and left.
"They... they left?"
Su Ziyang and the other two stared at Qi Chu in shock.
Qi Chu breathed a sigh of relief only after watching the "golden dragon" completely disappear. "That was terrifying! Thank goodness it's gone... I thought I had misremembered."
"Why is this dragon named Feifei? Is it such a cute name?"
Seeing that the crisis had been averted, Su Ziyang had time to ask the question that had been on his mind.
