An Unexpected Incident
Lao Pang's words made Su Ziyang more cautious, and he hid all the notebooks he had brought in a hidden compartment in his suitcase.
For the rest of the days, Su Ziyang practiced the techniques that Lao Pang had taught him in a monotonous way. Perhaps Su Ziyang was not born with a knack for violence, and no matter how much he learned the techniques, they were never quite perfect. He always felt that they were missing a little bit of inspiration.
This feeling of being constantly separated by a veil made Su Ziyang feel uncomfortable all over; it was something he had never experienced in his previous studies.
Although he lacked talent, hard work always paid off. Su Ziyang had mastered the basic techniques of bone setting. He might not be able to set complex fractures, but he could easily handle common dislocations and straight-line fractures.
That day, Lao Pang asked Su Ziyang to go to a neighboring village to treat an old man's leg. The old man was a very old man who had broken his thigh after falling while taking a walk. The two of them worked for almost a whole day before returning home.
As soon as Su Ziyang entered the store, he saw two middle-aged men in suits sitting in chairs.
As soon as the Lao Pang entered, the two men quickly stood up and greeted Lao Pang with smiles, "Uncle Pang, you're back!"
The Lao Pang man ignored the two of them and headed straight for the back door.
The two stood there awkwardly, somewhat at a loss, when Beichen suddenly spoke up, "Master, why don't you talk to them?"
"You took bribes from them?"
Lao Pang still ignored the two of them, and instead stared at Beichen with wide eyes.
Beichen's voice softened considerably after being glared at by the Lao Pang: "No..."
"Then why are you siding with outsiders? Are you even part of our family?" The Lao Pang's voice grew louder and louder as he questioned Beichen with a furrowed brow.
"It's alright, Xiao Bei. Uncle's in a bad mood today, we'll come again tomorrow. Let's not argue!" The middle-aged man in a suit smiled awkwardly and tried to smooth things over.
"Hmph! I'm in a better mood if you guys don't come." The Lao Pang sneered and walked straight into the courtyard.
The two middle-aged men in suits exchanged a glance, then looked at Beichen: "Xiao Bei, we're leaving. Let's talk again another day!"
After saying that, the two turned and walked towards the door. Seeing that they were about to leave, Beichen reached out and stopped them.
Seeing that Beichen was blocking their way, the two did not insist on leaving, but stood still.
Just then, Lao Pang stepped into the courtyard, and Beichen shouted at Lao Pang, "Master!"
Lao Pang heard Beichen call out, but he didn't turn around. He didn't go back into the house either; he just stood there.
"Master, I think their conditions are good enough. What are you keeping these two secret recipes for? What's the point of hiding them? You only make ten or eight yuan each time! Are you really planning to take these recipes to your coffin? If you wrote these recipes down on paper, they probably wouldn't even be enough to cover the top of your coffin!"
Beichen's words were extremely harsh. Upon hearing this, Lao Pang's shoulders trembled, and he slowly turned around. However, Lao Pang did not speak, but simply stared at Beichen quietly.
Su Ziyang was also taken aback when Beichen said those words. Putting aside the fact that Lao Pang was Beichen's teacher, Beichen was also Lao Pang's son-in-law.
Saying that is no different from cursing your own father to die young.
"Master, although you taught me how to shave and cut hair, and you also taught me a little about bone setting, I was also helping you in the process, wasn't I? Look at this area, how many people still shave or set bones like this? Where are the young people going to learn these things? What use is this broken thing of yours!"
After Beichen finished speaking, Lao Pang returned to the shop, slowly walked up to Beichen, and said, "You really think so?"
Beichen nodded without hesitation. "Yes, that's what I think!"
"Slap!" A loud slap landed on Beichen Beichen's face, and a bright red handprint appeared on his face in an instant.
Beichen, having been slapped, spat out a mouthful of blood and roared, "You hit me again? Bian Juncheng, let me tell you. Yes, I came here as an apprentice, but I've been working like a slave for your Bian family since I was young. I've been shaving heads in this shabby shop for over ten years. Apart from taking a little money for my meals, have I ever taken a single penny from you? I want to learn bone setting, and you didn't even look at me before saying I lack aptitude! Have you ever taught me properly?"
"I'm afraid my twenty years in your Bian family aren't even as valuable as the few bowls of lousy noodles this kid made for you! You taught an outsider so diligently! And you still have the nerve to hit me!"
Beichen pointed to Su Ziyang, who was still in shock because the incident had happened so suddenly.
Beichen's words made the Lao Pang's forehead turn red, and he said in Lao Pang trembling voice, "I paid for your wedding with Meimei, and this shop and these courtyards will all be yours in the future!"
"Heh~ Push~" Beichen sneered, spitting out another mouthful of blood. "You left it for Bian Mei, didn't you! You still have the nerve to mention my marriage to your daughter? Let me tell you, just considering Bian Mei's inability to have children, even if you throw away ten of these lousy shops, see if anyone will come to marry her!"
"You~you~" Lao Pang was so angry at Beichen that his whole body trembled, and he slapped him again.
This time, Beichen didn't take the blow head-on. He gently stepped back, dodging the Lao Pang's slap, and then punched the Lao Pang in the shoulder. No matter how skilled the Lao Pang was, he was old, and Beichen, like him, practiced the Thousand Gold Art. This punch sent the Lao Pang staggering back several steps, finally collapsing against the wall.
"Brother Chen, what are you doing! How could you hit Master!"
Su Ziyang never expected that Beichen would actually fight with Lao Pang. He quickly stepped forward and helped Lao Pang up when he almost sat down on the ground.
"Damn it! You little brat, don't you dare pretend to be a good guy. Let me tell you, you're an outsider. Don't you dare meddle in our family affairs! Get out!" Beichen glared at Su Ziyang, blood spitting from his mouth, cursing him almost maniacally.
Seeing Beichen punch the old man, two middle-aged men in suits, perhaps fearing trouble, quickly said, "Xiao Bei, that's enough. You two should talk things out first! Family shouldn't fight like this! Let's go!"
"No need to leave! Manager Li, let me ask you, if I give you the secret formula today, will what you said before still stand?" Beichen turned around and asked through gritted teeth.
Manager Li was taken aback by Beichen's words, then quickly nodded and said, "Yes, of course! We have the contract with us right now. As long as you hand over the formula, we can sign it immediately!"
As soon as Manager Li finished speaking, Beichen turned to the Lao Pang and said, "Bian Juncheng, let me tell you. You must hand over the secret recipe to me today, and I'll consider it compensation from your Bian family for all the losses I've suffered over the years!!!"
"There's no secret recipe! Even if there were, I wouldn't give it to you!" Lao Pang was also getting angry, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Beichen.
"Heh, damn it! I'll tear this house down today, and I refuse to believe I can't find a few secret recipes!" Beichen sneered.
Seeing that Beichen was determined to get the secret recipe even after throwing a tantrum, Manager Li and the other person stopped talking about leaving and quietly stood aside to watch the show.
Beichen took a step forward, about to grab Lao Pang, but Su Ziyang immediately stood in front of Lao Pang...
