Chapter 22
He raised his head and looked at Chen Rongrong beneath him.
In the moonlight, Chen Rongrong looked beautiful, her eyes carrying that bewilderment peculiar to a young girl.
"Why are you crying?"
Zhou Yuwen asked.
"It hurts a little."
That night, Zhou Yuwen finally got his wish. During high school in his previous life, he had been an inconspicuous nobody, attending classes from seven in the morning until ten-thirty at night.
Then he had to go home and clatter away at two thousand words of his novel.
The cycle repeated itself, over and over, leaving him utterly lost about the future.
As for Chen Rongrong, setting aside the family circumstances behind her that were difficult to speak of, she was radiant. Who knew how many teenage boys had secret crushes on her? In other people's eyes, she was pretty, lively and cheerful, a little ditzy and a little cute.
Some girls gossiped behind her back that she was promiscuous.
None of that mattered.
At eighteen, he was at the prime age of hot blood and vigor. On top of that, Zhou Yuwen had been reborn, and both his body and soul had been reforged. It could be said that Chen Rongrong would probably never forget this day.
At first, Chen Rongrong didn't know how she felt.
But later, Chen Rongrong was surely swept up in it too.
Later, Chen Rongrong's voice had taken on a tearful tone as she said, "Zhou Yuwen, let me rest for a bit."
Zhou Yuwen agreed.
"Okay, baby. I'll just hold you and won't do anything."
After so long, Chen Rongrong was truly exhausted. She lay in Zhou Yuwen's arms, looking haggard.
She looked at Zhou Yuwen in front of her.
She asked him why he was smiling.
"Was I smiling?"
Zhou Yuwen smiled and thought, Sure enough, when a flower is ready to be plucked, one must pluck it.
He hadn't expected Chen Rongrong to be a virgin.
During evening study in their second year of high school, he had heard Shi Zhenzhen gossiping with someone about how Chen Rongrong had gone out with an older man.
A few boys had joined in the gossip at the time.
But Zhou Yuwen didn't have so many reservations. Life was short, so he might as well enjoy himself while he could.
He just hadn't expected to come across a blank sheet of paper so soon after being reborn.
He was quite happy about it.
"And you said you weren't." Chen Rongrong pouted.
The smile on Zhou Yuwen's face was so obvious, yet he still refused to admit it.
"Oh, it's because I'm happy. Baby, being able to have you makes me so happy."
As he spoke, Zhou Yuwen kissed Chen Rongrong on the cheek.
Zhou Yuwen was certainly happy.
But Chen Rongrong had mixed feelings.
Research showed that most girls regretted it after establishing a relationship with a partner.
What was more, Chen Rongrong and Zhou Yuwen weren't even partners in the traditional sense.
Chen Rongrong's original plan had been to go to a big city and use her looks to find a rich second-generation heir who would cherish and love her.
Who could have expected her to meet someone like Zhou Yuwen?
Well, look what had happened now.
She truly did regret it.
Another thing that bothered her was this:
Zhou Yuwen didn't look reliable!
What decent person did this sort of thing? Every time she saw him smile,
Chen Rongrong felt like she'd been played.
No matter how she looked at it, Chen Rongrong felt she'd gotten the short end of the stick.
She saw Zhou Yuwen looking down and playing with the latest Apple phone.
Chen Rongrong gathered her courage. "I want to get a new Apple phone too..."
With university approaching, the students were all getting new gear. Even in Chen Rongrong's family, her eldest uncle and aunt had said they would buy her a phone and a computer.
Of course, there was no way they would buy the highest-end models.
At most, they would be fairly standard ones.
But a girl like Chen Rongrong naturally wanted the best.
