Picking a Fight with a Blind Man
Aizen stood with his hands behind his back, gazing at the dissipating smoke and dust in the distance.
Wang Xun stood behind him, watching the ashes of the two corpses on the ground being scattered by the wind, his heart filled with complex emotions.
Aizen's words were like a knife, piercing precisely into the spot where he felt most guilty.
Aizen turned around, his gaze falling on Wang Xun, his face already bearing his usual gentle smile.
"Go back. Someone will handle things here."
Wang Xun nodded and said nothing more.
He turned around and walked out of the dense forest.
Wang Xun walked slowly, his gaze sweeping over his surroundings.
The forest returned to tranquility, with only the distant chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves.
And the pounding of my own heart.
Late at night, outside the Ninth Division.
A dark figure emerged from the night.
With Kaname Tōsen sensed the movement around him and stopped not far from the person in front of him.
"Lord Aizen, you wanted to see me?"
Aizen to the side and looked at Kaname Tōsen.
"Yes, we have one more candidate for the Hōgyoku experiment."
Upon Kaname Tōsen frowned slightly.
"Who is it?"
Aizen slowly uttered a name.
"Wang Xun."
Kaname Tōsen's body stiffened slightly.
He fell silent, but unfortunately, his dark face revealed little expression in the darkness of the night.
"Sir," he began, his voice low, "Is he reliable?"
Aizen did not answer immediately.
He simply looked at Kaname Tōsen, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"How?"
Kaname Tōsen paused for a moment before speaking.
"He had only been a member of the Gotei 13 for six months, and his background was unclear and his origins unknown."
"Furthermore, he used to be a member of the Second Division and was very close to Kisuke Urahara."
He paused.
"I don't know if someone like that can be trusted."
Aizen smiled.
"You're right, they really aren't trustworthy."
Kaname Tōsen taken aback.
"Then why..."
Aizen turned to look into the distance, where he could vaguely see a few lights in the direction of the Fourth Division.
He can see through my Kyōka Suigetsu.
"What?!"
Kaname Tōsen's lips parted slightly, his expression gradually shifting from initial surprise to seriousness.
"Lord Aizen, this kind of person is too dangerous. We should eliminate him..."
No, it's not the right time yet.
Kaname Tōsen his head to the side, his brows slightly furrowed.
What do you mean?
Aizen continued.
"Yes, you are my most trusted subordinate. I have always entrusted you with a large part of the Hōgyoku matter."
"Wang Xun's physique is very special."
"The power of Soul Reaper and the power of Hollows coexist perfectly, allowing for controllable Hollowfication without any side effects."
"This state is very close to the Complete Hollowfication we are pursuing."
"You won't find another sample like this in the entire Soul Society."
"You've assisted me in developing the Hōgyoku for so long; you know its value."
His voice was calm, yet carried an undeniable certainty.
"So, regardless of whether he's trustworthy or not, he deserves a chance."
Kaname Tōsen silent.
Having followed Aizen for many years and been deeply involved in the research and testing of the Hōgyoku, he certainly knew how weighty Aizen's words were.
Aizen is right.
Wang Xun's physique was indeed the model they had been dreaming of.
If we can uncover the secrets surrounding him, the research on the Hōgyoku will take a giant leap forward.
but...
"My lord," he looked up, a hint of hesitation in his voice, "If he has ulterior motives..."
Aizen smiled.
"Unimportant."
Aizen walked up to him and patted him on the shoulder.
"Yes, have you ever thought about someone who can see through Kyōka Suigetsu and resist the corrosive effects of the Hōgyoku?"
"If he really wanted to get back at me, what would he do?"
Kaname Tōsen think for a moment.
"An ordinary person might report it directly to the Central 46. A smarter person would team up with other captains to secretly gather evidence and then strike when the time is right."
Aizen nodded.
"Yes, but Wang Xun didn't do that. He chose to come to me and deliberately exposed himself. What does that mean?"
Kaname Tōsen silent.
Aizen continued.
"It explains what he wants to get from me, or what he wants to achieve by using my power."
He paused, a playful smile curving his lips.
"I'm very curious about what he's trying to do."
He turned around, walked to the window, and stood with his hands behind his back.
"Therefore, I don't need to trust him. I only need to use him, observe him, and study him."
"As long as it benefits our plan, nothing else matters."
Kaname Tōsen silent for a long time.
"Understood, sir. What do you need me to do?"
Aizen did not turn back.
"Just keep a close eye on him during the experiment, and report any abnormalities immediately."
"Go."
"Yes."
Kaname Tōsen turned and walked towards the door.
Just as he reached the door, Aizen's voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Want."
Kaname Tōsen stop.
Aizen did not turn back.
"I know you have doubts about Wang Xun, but remember, he is a valuable sample."
Kaname Tōsen a moment.
"Yes."
Before we knew it, night had fallen.
In the Ninth Division, most of the lights in the barracks were already off.
Kaname Tōsen sat in his room, Aizen's words still echoing in his mind.
He opened his blind eyes and gazed into the endless darkness.
The next day, in the Fourth Division Barracks, inside the clinic.
The room was brightly lit, and several wounded members of the Ninth Division lay on hospital beds, their bodies wrapped in bandages and their faces showing signs of pain.
The members of the Fourth Division were busy treating wounds; some were changing dressings, some were checking Reiatsu, and some were recording data.
Wang Xun stood in front of the innermost hospital bed, treating one of the most seriously injured team members.
His movements were quick, yet steady.
Pale green Kaidō Reiatsu seeped from his fingertips, precisely probing into the wounded's body to repair damaged spiritual meridians and stabilize disordered Reiatsu.
After treating the last wounded soldier, Wang Xun withdrew his hand and let out a soft breath.
After leaving the consultation room, he was slightly taken aback when he saw Kaname Tōsen standing at the door.
"The Fifth Seat Tōsen?"
Kaname Tōsen forward, his voice calm.
"Fourth Seat Wang Xun, thank you for your hard work. How are the team members injured in the attack by the rioting prisoners?"
Wang Xun glanced at the wounded.
"It's not a big problem, he'll be fine after a few more days of rest."
Kaname Tōsen nodded.
"That's good."
The two remained silent for a moment.
Wang Xun looked at Kaname Tōsen, waiting for him to speak.
As expected, Kaname Tōsen speak.
"Wang Xun, I want to talk to you."
Wang Xun nodded.
"Good."
The two walked out of the consultation room and into the corridor in the backyard of the Fourth Division.
A gentle breeze blew by, carrying the sweet fragrance of herbs from the courtyard.
Kaname Tōsen stopped and turned around to face Wang Xun.
"I don't know how you managed to fool Lord Aizen."
His voice was low, yet carried an undeniable certainty.
But I won't believe you.
"I don't think you'll understand our sense of justice."
Wang Xun remained silent for a moment.
He simply stared quietly at Kaname Tōsen, observing the complex emotions churning on that dark face.
He knew what Kaname Tōsen go through.
Her best friend was murdered by her husband, and the murderer, being a nobleman, was not held accountable.
Then, Wang Xun said softly.
"Justice?"
"From the moment you participate in harming innocent people, your sense of justice has already become untenable."
"If you've got the guts, why don't you just go and kill those damned people?"
"Can't you do it with your current abilities?"
Kaname Tōsen's body stiffened slightly.
His dark face turned ashen, and his voice was filled with suppressed anger.
"What do you know? What have you been through? Have you ever witnessed the darkness of this world?"
He stepped forward, his Reiatsu spreading outward uncontrollably.
"Killing just one person won't change the inherent evil of this world. Even if you kill him, what difference will it make?!"
Wang Xun stood still and snorted coldly.
"So what does this have to do with me?"
Kaname Tōsen's Reiatsu faltered.
Wang Xun continued.
"If you have any questions, go talk to Aizen. Don't bother me anymore."
Kaname Tōsen silent.
He stood there, the anger on his face gradually fading.
After a long silence, he let out a cold snort.
"I'll be watching you."
Wang Xun smiled upon hearing this.
You can't even see me.
