Douluo Continent: Simulating Douluo Dalu III, Specifically to Screw Over Tang San, Chapter 4
Gong Yu directly called out to the system in his mind. He had thought it wouldn't respond, but to his surprise, it did.
[ Ding... Answering one question will consume one Simulation attempt. ]
Gong Yu was feeling terribly uncomfortable, so he gritted his teeth, spent one Simulation attempt, and asked, "I want to know why my blood and Qi are surging, and how to fix it."
[ Isn't that two... questions? ]
"You can't count? That's one question. Hurry up and tell me."
[ Ding... One Simulation attempt deducted. The answer to your question is as follows. ]
[ The cause is more or less what you suspected. You don't have a God King father to help you add a seal, nor a kiss from the Goddess of Life containing Life Divine Power. ]
[ But you're an idiot. If this system hadn't added a seal when fusing the Golden Dragon King Bloodline into you, you'd already have died during the fusion. Your current situation means the first layer of the seal has started to come undone. ]
[ Do you even need to ask how to fix it? You really are stupid. You may not have a God King father to guide you in searching for spiritual treasures to help break the bloodline seal, but you have the "Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill"! ]
[ In fact, to truly unleash the power of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill, the best way to cultivate it is by using the essence blood of dragons and elephants. The Golden Dragon King Bloodline essence in your body isn't the best thing after Dragon God's blood? In fact, Golden Dragon King's blood is Dragon God's blood. ]
[ As long as you persist in cultivating Dragon Elephant Prajna every day, you'll be able to keep absorbing the Golden Dragon King's bloodline power. When you reach the ninth level of Dragon Elephant Prajna, the Golden Dragon King Bloodline essence will completely merge with your bloodline. ]
"I see. Hahaha... Then there's no problem. With Dragon Elephant Prajna at my side, I don't need to go looking for spiritual treasures. Not bad, not bad at all. System, you're the best!"
After hearing the cause of his surging blood and Qi and how to resolve it, Gong Yu was so delighted he could hardly stop grinning.
But he quickly settled his thoughts and immersed himself in cultivating the Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill.
As Dragon Elephant Prajna circulated the Golden Dragon King's blood and Qi through his body and spread it throughout him, the surging sensation grew weaker and weaker, so Gong Yu sped up his cultivation.
Finally, an hour later, Gong Yu felt that the blood and Qi in his body had settled.
"Does this mean I successfully undid the first layer of the seal?" Gong Yu stroked his chin and pondered. He felt that must be right. The first layer of the seal had been undone, so from now on, he just had to cultivate Dragon Elephant Prajna every day as planned to absorb the bloodline power.
"By drawing on the blood and Qi contained in the Golden Dragon King Bloodline, I've cultivated Dragon Elephant Prajna to the second level. And I didn't just break through; I've already reached minor mastery of the second level. With this body alone, I could take on a Soul Grandmaster without a problem. If I also use my Soul Skill, I can kill a Soul Grandmaster."
Standing up, Gong Yu brushed the dust off his clothes and glanced at the mess of broken wood around him. He immediately felt guilty, then looked around, only to find that there was still no one in the school.
"Thank goodness, it's only a little after six in the morning. No one saw me here, so I'd better run."
He took off at once, but then he suddenly thought of something and couldn't stop laughing as he ran away. "The playground is supposed to be cleaned by Little Scumbag and that hooligan rabbit... No, I should say Bus Rabbit. That's right, those two. Hmm, I'll throw more trash around from now on."
Chapter 8: Soul Hunting Forest
Gong Yu returned from the playground to the dormitory. About half an hour later, everyone gradually got up, since the opening ceremony was being held that morning. If they were late, their homeroom teacher might reprimand them.
Gong Yu wasn't interested in attending the opening ceremony. After all, he'd spent more than ten years in school in his previous life and had been through this sort of thing many times.
As he was idly sitting around, he suddenly remembered that, if the plot followed its normal course, Tang San should be going with Yu Xiaogang today to hunt for a Soul Ring.
"I wonder if Yu Xiaogang will still take Little Scumbag to the Soul Hunting Forest today after I made him question his whole life yesterday. Whatever. I'll watch and see. If those two still go, I'll have to play the lovesick stalker."
"But first, I'll go get breakfast."
With that, Gong Yu headed to the school cafeteria in high spirits.
Outside the cafeteria, he finally spotted Little Scumbag and Bus Rabbit. The two had just finished cleaning the playground and were now heading to the cafeteria to eat.
As she walked, Bus Rabbit Xiao Wu complained to Little Scumbag about whoever had been such a bastard as to scatter broken wood and branches all over the place for her to sweep up.
She kept grumbling and cursing, but fortunately, she wasn't using very harsh language, so Gong Yu decided not to hold it against her.
"Xiao Wu, stop cursing. It's not good if someone hears you. Besides, I helped you clean up too." Tang San had noticed Gong Yu approaching from a distance. By instinct, he felt a little disgusted by him.
Like some sort of protective parent, Tang San stepped in front of Xiao Wu. In truth, he was just trying to block Gong Yu's view of her, as if he were afraid Gong Yu might try to steal Xiao Wu from him.
Gong Yu silently scoffed, then couldn't even be bothered to look at those two as he walked straight into the cafeteria.
But he'd heard their conversation just now. Little Scumbag had gone to clean the playground today, so Yu Xiaogang hadn't taken him to hunt for a Soul Ring. That was Gong Yu's analysis.
Once inside the cafeteria, Gong Yu ordered more than ten servings of meat congee and over twenty steamed buns. It wasn't because he had much of an appetite; the Golden Dragon King Bloodline had turned him into a glutton.
"Thank goodness I got compensation from Spirit Hall back then, or I really couldn't afford to support myself now. I've already obtained my First Soul Ring, and once I register with Spirit Hall, I'll get a stipend every month. But a stipend of just one Gold Soul Coin a month isn't enough to fuel my appetite."
As he wolfed down his food, Gong Yu overheard Little Scumbag and Xiao Wu talking downstairs.
Tang San said, "Xiao Wu, I'm leaving for a few days. I'll be going in a little while. Could you handle the playground work for me while I'm gone? I'll make it up to you when I get back."
Xiao Wu said, "You're leaving already, right after the school year started? Where are you going? The playground isn't big. I might have agreed to help you, but you know that if something like today happens again, I won't be able to manage by myself. So I can't say yes."
Tang San then said, "Sorry for the trouble, Xiao Wu. Please help me out. I'll pay you for the work. I'm going with Teacher to hunt for my First Soul Ring. We were supposed to set out before dawn, but Teacher got sick from anger yesterday, so we're leaving a bit later."
Xiao Wu frowned and said reluctantly, "Fine. You have to pay me, and when you get back, you'll have to treat me to a big meal too."
After hearing that much, Gong Yu stopped listening. He hurriedly wolfed down all the food on the table, then left in a rush.
He returned to the dormitory, packed some things, and asked the dorm leader-whose name he'd already forgotten-to request leave for him. Then he hurriedly left the academy.
At the academy gate, he rented a carriage and driver and told him to go straight to the Soul Hunting Forest. As for that lovesick-stalker business, forget it. He'd get there first.
After traveling for a day and a night, the carriage finally arrived at the Soul Hunting Forest after sunrise the next morning.
After getting off, Gong Yu paid the driver one Gold Soul Coin. Because it was such a large amount, the driver was a little afraid to accept it. It really was too much; one Gold Soul Coin was almost two months' wages for a carriage driver.
Gong Yu didn't care. He tossed the Gold Soul Coin onto the carriage and left. Whether the driver accepted it or not was none of his concern.
At the little stalls outside the Soul Hunting Forest, he bought some food to fill his stomach. He also listened in to see whether anyone nearby was looking to form a team to hunt Soul Beasts.
He wasn't looking to team up to hunt Soul Beasts; he wanted to rob someone. Before long, he found a target.
It was a somewhat sleazy-looking man with a mustache. As he walked, he kept scratching his butt. He probably had jock itch. In his previous life, Gong Yu had seen people like that. A classmate in his dorm had once had jock itch too, and whenever he felt itchy while walking, he would scratch his butt every now and then, just like that sleazy man.
Gong Yu shuddered, feeling a little disgusted. Under ordinary circumstances, he wouldn't have gone anywhere near someone like that. But it was early morning, and there were only a few people around. Of the people he'd spotted, the sleazy man was the only one with a token allowing entry to the Soul Hunting Forest.
With no other choice, Gong Yu could only set his sights on the token in the sleazy man's possession.
He watched from the side for a while, and soon an opportunity came.
The sleazy man suddenly needed to use the toilet. Gong Yu followed right after him. In the end, he couldn't escape becoming a lovesick stalker.
At the edge of the bushes, just as the sleazy man was enjoying himself on the toilet, Gong Yu struck him on the head with a club and knocked him unconscious.
Gong Yu carefully searched through the sleazy man's clothes, then suddenly discovered something. He couldn't help saying, "Hoh, this guy must have quite a background. He even has a Storage Soul Tool."
It was common knowledge that Soul Tools were rare across all Douluo Continent in this era, let alone Storage Soul Tools. Usually, only the children of great clans carried Storage Soul Tools with them.
That was Gong Yu's analysis. As for this sleazy man, he was either a child from some great clan or had stolen it by killing someone while leading people to hunt Soul Beasts.
Gong Yu felt the second possibility was more likely. After all, the sleazy man was only a mediocre Soul Grandmaster. If he were from a great clan, he wouldn't have to scrape by in the Soul Hunting Forest.
Just look at Yu Xiaogang. He came from a great clan and wouldn't lower himself to scraping by in the Soul Hunting Forest. When he was young, he even went to the Star Dou Great Forest.
Besides, a Soul Grandmaster was already qualified to find a job as a teacher at a beginner Soul Master Academy, earn a salary, and get a monthly stipend of ten Gold Soul Coins from Spirit Hall. He'd be guaranteed a lovely, comfortable life.
How did Li Yunlong's saying go? "A wolf travels a thousand miles and eats meat, a dog travels a thousand miles and eats shit..." Ah, damn it, what was Zhang Dabiao's saying again?
"Your old man drinks a little wine every day and gets treated to Japanese beef in every meal!"
A Soul Grandmaster could basically live that kind of life.
But that was beside the point. Back to Gong Yu: he rummaged around in the sleazy man's Storage Soul Tool, taking things out and looking them over.
He tossed everything he didn't need onto the ground. At last, he found the token that allowed entry to and exit from the Soul Hunting Forest. He also found two bags of Gold Soul Coins, each containing a hundred coins.
Gong Yu immediately grinned and said, "Hey, I didn't expect to make a little fortune. Not bad, not bad at all!"
Chapter 9: Thunder Jiao Soul Spirit
Yu Xiaogang and Tang San still hadn't arrived, but since Gong Yu already had a token that let him enter the Soul Hunting Forest, he wasn't going to wait outside forever.
He took the jade token to the gate of the Soul Hunting Forest, but the soldiers guarding it stopped him.
"Stop, little friend. This isn't a place for you to come play by yourself. Hurry back!" one soldier kindly reminded him.
Gong Yu first thanked him, then took out a token and said to the soldier, "Uncle, don't worry. I didn't come alone. My big brother is waiting for me just beyond the gate. Look, he gave me this token. You know this sort of token wouldn't be given to just anyone."
The two soldiers exchanged a look and nodded to each other. They felt Gong Yu made sense, so the soldier who had spoken first said, "Is what you said true? Don't lie to me, Uncle. It's very dangerous in there. If we let you in, you could lose your life."
Gong Yu nodded and said, "Uncles, I'm not lying. Everything I said is true. Don't worry, my brother is a Soul Ancestor. He couldn't be bothered to come back out after leading a team in to hunt Soul Beasts, so he's waiting for me just beyond the gate."
Hearing the words "Soul Ancestor" put the two soldiers at ease. They no longer stopped Gong Yu. They opened the gate and let him in.
After entering the forest, Gong Yu first hunted a pig-type Soul Beast that was around ten years old, then lit a fire and roasted it to fill his stomach. With the Golden Dragon King Bloodline in him, his appetite was simply too large. He hadn't found anything good to eat outside the forest, and there hadn't been much of it either. His stomach wasn't even close to full.
He still had to wait for Yu Xiaogang and Tang San to arrive, so he hunted a pig for food and waited while roasting it.
"Going by yesterday's departure time, Yu Xiaogang and his disciple should be, at most, half an hour behind me. Why haven't those two shown up yet?"
After half an hour, the pig was cooked, but Yu Xiaogang and his disciple were still nowhere to be seen. Gong Yu grew a little impatient, so he devoured the entire roasted pig, then headed farther into the forest.
"I'll go look around first. Maybe I can find the Mandala Snake before they do, then kill it outright."
On the way in, he encountered mostly ten-year Soul Beasts. He barely came across any that were a hundred years old, and those of the thousand-year level were even harder to find.
Still, it was easy to understand. After all, the Soul Hunting Forest was a place where the Heaven Dou Empire kept low-level Soul Beasts penned up, mostly to make it convenient for low-level Soul Masters to hunt for their First and Second Soul Rings. So the outer areas were mostly home to ten-year Soul Beasts.
Farther in, there were more Hundred-Year Soul Beasts. Go deeper still, and he might even encounter thousand-year ones. A forest like this would have Thousand-Year Soul Beasts, but not many.
As he walked, Gong Yu finally came across a Hundred-Year Soul Beast. He looked closely and saw that it was a Lion-Tailed Elephant.
"Eh, I think cultivating the Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill requires elephant blood too. Heh, I've run into one at just the right time. Then I won't stand on ceremony."
Grinning, Gong Yu charged straight at the Lion-Tailed Elephant. It was only a Hundred-Year Soul Beast; it was nothing to him right now.
But elephant-type Soul Beasts had thick skin and tough flesh. Gong Yu wasn't going to slowly wear it down. If he did, he'd be the one to suffer.
So as he approached the Lion-Tailed Elephant, he directly used his First Soul Skill.
Gong Yu's First Soul Skill was effective within fifty meters. The Lion-Tailed Elephant was a defensive type and wasn't good at speed, so it had no chance of escaping his First Soul Skill's Entanglement. It was quickly squeezed to pieces.
Gong Yu cursed under his breath at having used too much force. The entire Lion-Tailed Elephant had been squeezed into pieces, so how was he supposed to extract its blood?
Still, he walked over and collected some blood from several pieces of elephant meat that seemed relatively intact and were still dripping blood.
He then hurried away from where he was. A battle had just taken place there, and Soul Beast blood was splattered everywhere. He was sure it would soon attract a large number of Soul Beasts.
After wandering around the forest for half a day, he still hadn't encountered the Mandala Snake. But at around dusk, Gong Yu finally spotted Yu Xiaogang and his disciple.
He followed them from a distance. Since he couldn't find the Mandala Snake himself, he could just follow Tang San. With Tang San's luck, he should be able to find it.
After tailing those two for half the day, dusk finally arrived.
Yu Xiaogang had his farting pig Martial Soul let out a fart, knocking a group of Nether Wolves unconscious. Then he walked forward, pulled out a dagger, and stabbed one to death before beginning to teach Tang San how to absorb a Soul Ring.
Yu Xiaogang instructed Tang San, saying, "This is a Soul Ring. I killed these Soul Beasts. If my Soul Power had just reached the conditions needed to advance, I could absorb their Soul Rings right now to advance. The specific method is to use your Soul Power to draw the Soul Ring toward yourself, then immediately begin meditating and absorb the Soul Ring's energy."
A faint purple light shone from Yu Xiaogang's hand. He beckoned toward the Soul Ring produced by one of the Nether Wolves, and the Soul Ring floated over, circling around Grandmaster's body. But it didn't sink into him.
Yu Xiaogang then let go and said, "My Soul Power isn't enough to advance right now, so I can't absorb the Soul Ring. It'll dissipate on its own within an hour."
After saying that, he had Little Scumbag take out two white radishes to feed Luo Sanpao.
The master and disciple continued onward, with Gong Yu still following behind them. After a while, Luo Sanpao, who was leading the way, sensed danger and began calling out "Luo, Luo, Luo" again.
Little Scumbag also smelled blood and a strange fragrance in the air. He activated the Mysterious Heaven Skill and circulated the Purple Demon Eye, spotting a snake with a dark green, triangular head. He blurted out, "There's a poisonous creature."
Gong Yu, who had been following the two idiots from not far away, heard the words "poisonous creature" and immediately realized that the main event was about to begin.
Following Tang San's instructions, Yu Xiaogang soon spotted the snake and recognized it as a Mandala Snake. After seeing its length, he immediately identified it as a Mandala Snake that was around four hundred years old.
Without a moment's hesitation, Yu Xiaogang had his Farting Pig Martial Soul let one rip, then grabbed Tang San and ran.
Yu Xiaogang really was an idiot. Why make a pig fart and provoke a four-hundred-year-old snake Soul Beast? Wasn't that obviously going to draw the snake's attention? He could've just taken his disciple and left. Besides, it was the middle of the night-not exactly an easy time to run.
Seeing the Mandala Snake chase after Yu Xiaogang and his disciple, Gong Yu wasn't in a hurry anymore. He leisurely followed the trail.
By the time he found Tang San and his master, Tang San had just killed the Mandala Snake.
Yu Xiaogang suggested that Little Scumbag absorb the snake's Soul Ring, and Little Scumbag did as he was told. But Yu Xiaogang had been poisoned by the snake and was already dozing off beside him.
At this moment, Gong Yu, hiding not far away, suddenly revealed an evil, charming smile and said, "Little Scumbag, you want to absorb this Soul Ring? Dream on."
Then Gong Yu summoned his Thunder Jiao Soul Spirit and said, "Go. Stop Little Scumbag from absorbing that Soul Ring and drive him away."
Chapter 10: Tang San's Hundred-Year-Old Snot-Worm First Soul Ring
At Gong Yu's command, his Thunder Jiao Soul Spirit immediately charged toward Tang San.
Rustle, rustle, rustle...
Tang San had already drawn the Soul Ring to himself and was just about to circulate the Mysterious Heaven Skill to absorb it. When he heard the noise, he instantly sensed danger closing in.
