History

Fourth Holy Grail War

Waver participated in the Fourth Holy Grail War as Rider's Master, having stolen Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald's Holy Relic to enter the conflict. Initially frightened and physically out of his depth, he was repeatedly endangered by Iskandar's recklessness, including nearly being knocked from a bridge. 75 76

After Kayneth confronted him, Waver publicly vowed that he would no longer be the same person when they next met. He also recognized Pantaleon only vaguely as someone connected to King Arthur's era. 78

During the battle against the sea beast, Waver witnessed Cthulhu's eyes and suffered severe mental shock, collapsing unconscious shortly afterward. 101

Lord El-Melloi II

Years later, Waver became Lord El-Melloi II and head of the Clock Tower's Modern Magecraft Department. Despite his position, he remained deeply in debt and lived with Gray in a secluded, run-down apartment. 185 186

Yu Feng encountered Waver in London and presented himself as Kaede Ryougi. Waver accepted the explanation, though Yu Feng's reappearance unsettled him because it recalled the Fourth Holy Grail War. Yu Feng later gave him a card containing one hundred million dollars for lodging expenses, which Waver received with irritation rather than gratitude. 186

As a Lord, Waver accepted commissions involving modern magecraft and former students. He investigated the death of Ernest Fargo, determined that Ernest had deliberately become an undead spirit after pursuing the Root through unstable magecraft, and relied on Gray and Yu Feng when the group was trapped by undead. 188 189

Mystic Eye Train Incident

Waver eventually learned that Yu Feng had been the Einzbern Avenger, Pantaleon, in the Fourth Holy Grail War. Yu Feng confirmed only that he had effectively wished for incarnation through the Holy Grail; Waver agreed to keep his identity confidential to prevent turmoil at the Clock Tower. 196

Heartless stole Waver's most precious Holy Relic: a fragment of Iskandar's cloak. Waver pursued him aboard the Mystic Eye Train, where he investigated the murder of Theresa Feros and the theft of Mystic Eyes. 196 198 204

Through deduction, Waver exposed Heartless as the murderer and identified his larger scheme: the creation of a Sub-Holy Grail by linking the Mystic Eye Train and the Child of Fuyuki Forest to a Spiritual Vein. 204 205

Waver recognized Faker as Iskandar's magical substitute and challenged her over her exclusion from Iskandar's Army of the King. He recovered Iskandar's cloak when Heartless threw it back to him during their confrontation. 205 206

When Hephaestion used her binding Mystic Eyes on Gray, Waver had already prepared a distraction to exploit the moment her attention shifted, allowing Gray to break free and counterattack. 207

Later Battles

Waver continued working alongside Yu Feng in later conflicts. In Xianyang, the two established a complex barrier that converted and amplified magical energy; Waver recognized it as a nascent form of an Inherent Domain. 363
